There are people who don't know what they do, there are people who think knowing what they do, there are people who know what they do and then......... there are people like this guy who is absolutely sure about what he's doing and even showing it without a single doubt or hesitation .... Thnx for this vid, you've saved my day Sir
Great video. Ordered my material last Sunday received Thursday. New liner installed Saturday. Easy job. I ordered two cans of adhesive and used just small part of can 2. Glad I had it, would have delayed finishing. install was an f150 with crew cab. Hardest part was cleaning off the old foam, quite messy. Pay close attention to the tips in video on filling in contours and the fold over of edges. I struggled a bit there, but all worked out. New liner looks great. ‘
What a well done video. You explained everything so clearly, great camera angles where people can actually see up close what you're doing. Happy to be a new subscriber!
Hey Marcus, just wanted to say thanks for the super high quality headliner. This video was everything I need to know to get mine put in place just fine. Keep up the great work, sir. All the best.
Good videos, had a saggy headliner and your videos gave me enough info to tackle the job and replace it with much better looking fabric, thanks my friend!
Thank you David for subcribing to our channel. It is always a treat to see that someone values what we are putting out in our videos. I will owk on those for you. The GMC is that a quad cab truck or SUV? Thank you! Marcus Headliner Magic
Come on by Scuba, We got you covered. You can also book an appointment on our website, www.headlinermagic.net We appreciate you watching our video. Marcus Headliner Magic
Excellent tutorial! Getting ready to do my headliner - the tip on doing a small section at a time is great. That will save me a lot of frustration. Thanks for the tips and the simple, honest presentation style. Keep up the good work!
I was going to just patch up my drooping headliner, but decided instead to redo the whole thing. I bought some foam-backed fabric from Hobby Lobby for $30 and will use Locktite spray adhesive. The adhesive directions say to spray both surfaces and allow to dry for 10 minutes before bonding. After watching this video, the rest looks easy. Now maybe I can drive again without holding my hand on the ceiling.
Good day Marcus! Thank you for sharing your knowledge like this. Just wanting to share a word of appreciation with the rest here! You really help impart a measure of confidence to people such as myself wanting to do the same being careful with the budget and method. I have a 21 year old w203 that is in need of attention. Was a cosmetic mess when first bought inside and out. Mechanics is all in great shape though. The only way I can remove the headliner is through the windscreen! Ha, I found out only after dismantling the chairs and trim! Is quite a diy dive and education! All the best with your channel and business your side! Greets & gratitude from the Cape of Good Hope peninsula South Africa.
Hello Shannon, I have one on removing the sunshade in a VW CC on the channel. Let me know what yr make n model u have? And I can put something together for you. Marcus
Thanks for posting this video. I've replaced the fabric in my old '04 Silverado once years ago, and did it trial and error (a lot of error). It went fairly well, but I ended up with raised places. Thanks to your instruction, I see why now. Starting the gluing process from the middle and working outward is mainly what I did not do. Also, I tended to stretch the fabric in the recesses. I noticed that the fabric was relaxed in all of the bends and recesses in your demonstration. It's time for me to replace the fabric again. I have one question, does the perforated fabric last any longer before separating than the other fabric? Thanks again.
My headliner gets soaked when it rains heavily. Im going to remove it, put on some sound deadening material then redo the headliner. Thanks for the tutorial. Ill be ordering new headliner material from you.
You did not leave a slight excess to overlap the dome lights holes in the back and front of the board. Is there a reason you didn't do this? Also, I notice you are using an adhesive that is not a 3M for headliners. Is your glue better in terms of bonding and holding its bond? Additionally, I have a 2006 Honda Accord 4Dr Sedan with A color headline of Clear gray according to the honda parts catalog. Do you have a color to match this? Please inform, and thanks for the video; it was very informative.
Any time! RedLP5000S, you can do it. I have a specific one on the Mini Cooper link below as well. Mini Cooper Video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-82tfrlv274g.html Marcus
Dear Headliner Magic, I am not a pro in this, but I would not cut to edge along holes and edges. I would cut so that you can fold around the edges and the headliner sticks better in the future for a longer time. Anyway, that's just me. I do have a question: I have removed the old headliner completely, taken off the old material and cleaned the styropor roof for old foam. But it is super sticky. Should I try to clean this or not? And if I should clean it, what to use, to prevent the styropor from melting? Kind regards, Redfox.
These demonstrations are perfect . It looks like you are able to pull up and adjust the material as necessary using the smaller spray area method. You have probably already answered it before, but I’m wondering how the performance of the spray can adhesive compares to the spray gun over time. Does the spray can adhesive hold up as long when applied correctly?
You make it look so easy. Your craftsmanship does suggest you have been doing it awhile. Im going over this is my head and wonder how do you get there foamboard out of the car in one perfect piece like that? For Honda Accord around 2000 i think. Its a friends car so om not sure. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the info. You made it look easy! I would like to know if there are techniques to getting headliners in and out of vehicles, or things NOT to do. I just took my headliner out and I basically bent things out of the way to loosen it, and I basically bent the headliner itself to get it our of the truck. It doesn't seem any worse for that, but I thought it might be possible to over do it and permanently damage it.
Great question Frank, yes there is a bit of a technique to removing the board. I would assume we are speaking of a Crew Cab truck. First recline both front seats as far back as they will go then position the board below the steering wheel. Turning the board towards the front passenger door. You will be able to turn the board 90 degrees and straight out the door by pulling in in a angle towards the ground. I have a commercial that show it in motion at the link below. Thanks for watching Marcus ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CbcUc9tXj6g.html
We did this yesterday, but unfortunately, ours turned out badly. We had a problem with creases in the fabric after pressing it into the indentation and not being able to fix it before the glue got too sticky. We were working with a headliner that had a large panoramic sunroof and we were doing OK on the sides, but we made the mistake of continuing to work in two places at the same time once we got passed the hole which caused the fabric to bunch up and when I tried to take that part back off so I could lay it down flat, the glue had become too sticky and I pulled the fabric off but the foam stayed there. I will try to fix it as best I can today, but it basically looks like crap. This is a job that should only be done by one person so they will only work in one spot at a time
Hi Marcus, glad I found your channel. You explain things very well!! Really appreciate that. Doesn’t look like you have come across a 1980 Datsun 280ZX. Been scared to give it a go but considering it, it’s been my baby for 35 years. I’m trying to keep it original, so need to match the blue liner. Any pro tips appreciated. Thanks. Ps I also have a 1989 Donzi 21 foot cuddy cabin boat. I suppose same techniques can be used. Thanks again. Bob
Awesome, thank you! Big thanks for the sub! The 1980 Datson 280ZX is a rare catch. The process is the same for laying and installing the headliner. The critical part is just removing the headliner board. The task is still simple but you have to be careful with not breaking any brittle plasic pieces. And your cabin boat will be somewhat easy you just spread it on the ceiling like doing wall paper. You can send me a pic of the blue liner. As I have two colors that could work. headlinermagic@gmail.com Marcus
@@HeadlinerMagic really appreciate Marcus. Yes pretty rare. I will send a pic when I’m back. It’s actually more of a grey. Had the car for darn near 40 years and always would have guessed it blue. Take care will be in touch. Thanks again. Bob
It should be dry enough once your done and can be handled back in the vehicle immediately or let it fully cure overnight to let the glue smell disapate as well. Marcus
Thanks Trent for checking us out. Yes, I have a few sunvisor videos avaliable. I may have more of what you need on my Instagram channel. I will leave a few links below. Hey Marcus, looking to do this on my 1989 Pontiac Bonneville SSE. Do you guys have any compatible headliners, I didn't see any under pontiac on the website.
I know it’s a super late response, but 2022 Jan starting prices is $275 for a single cab and mid size vehicle are $425 - 550 and vans and SUV’s are around $475 - $800
Hi brother nice vid.... I have a question .. im trying to get one done myself .. Im trying to buy a fabric from etsy ... Does the fabric comes thick or i can do this with a Knit one?? Thx
My headliner isn't hanging as bad as some of the ones shown is there a way to fix it before going through the steps of taking down the board and this video or is this the best solution and I should just go ahead and do this
@@cranereign1085 Get yourself a super small syringe/needle and small rolling pin. Using the syringe, shoot some good glue into the areas where it's sagging then use the roller to spread the glue.
