Looking at the new tubing twisting going in, have you considered supporting it with some sort of bearing arrangement? Say, one of those expandable reels like they use at the hardware store when you buy cut-to-length wire. Pay for itself the first time the tubing kinks.

Can you do that when replacing buried copper?
@timeorspace
@timeorspace 2 года назад
Great video! I'm replacing my 1cuft/hr leak, 30+ YO buried copper service line via a home warranty company, and counter to mine and the service technician's suggestion of trenchless replacement, the company wants to spot repair my 30+ YO buried copper pipe. I called the plumbing company, then the warranty company, and I hope a second, third, fourth, etc opinion can deliver trenchless replacement. It does seem like the tools could be paid for with one or two jobs, and the work could last another decade. This video has helped re-affirm my stubborn-ness...I am impressed it made the corner, will this slitter method work for a straight run of Copper too?

How did you get the cable threw the old pipe from the meter to the house to pull the pex threw????

I have galvanized pipe. I'm getting an estimate and they do trenchless. I'm glad they won't have to tear up my driveway, and I'm not that far from the curb. So that's a plus.

How did your replacement go? I have galvanized as well. I’m going to proactively replace my water main before getting new landscaping and sidewalks done. Checking out the different solutions
@slaydesantis294
@slaydesantis294 2 года назад
@@davidnewkirk2438 It went pretty well. They replaced the galvanized that went to the street with a copper pipe (regulations, had to have it copper) and later on, we replaced galvanized inside with pex. When the outside pipe was replaced, the water became clogged up, because there was old pipe inside the house. It happens, I guess. I didn't have a lot of water pressure, until the pex was installed. Love it!

Silly to put a PRV that will leak to take off 20 PSI, Should of left water pressure at 80 PSI. I did enjoy the pull in water pipe.
@tylero8595
@tylero8595 2 года назад
80psi is too much. You have to reduce it. At night the city pressure would probably bump up to 100psi. Always a prv.
@redranger518
@redranger518 2 года назад
@@tylero8595 100 psi don't bother me at all, I keep my house around 80. I have seen whole neighborhoods in the 120's. PRV is just another potential leak or break and shut the water pressure down to 20 psi

Is it safe to assume this won't work with old galvanized pipe?
@johnpatrickfay5288

But how did you get pipe puller through system, Information please.
@Casmige
@Casmige 10 месяцев назад
They simply feed a multi-strand pull-cable from the water service supply side up to & over to/through the foundation side & then reverse-pull the pipe splitter through while also pulling the replacement hose.

great way to get the job done. Im in Ohio, I replace water lines..mostly old galvanized..rusted badly...what system do you suggest for this type of material? Where should I look to buy tools needed to pull a line through when there's barely a pencil width of space in the pipe.

I've got galvanized as well. How would a splitter split through metal? I don't see how this method would work. (So back to digging I now go!)

If we are pulling a one inch line, we make a 3 inch core hole. And use links seals to make it water tight like a frogs ass. But I like your snatch block. Very nice. Also our water has to be 5 feet deep. Up in NY

Thank you for the video. Question: can this be used if the sewage line has a belly ? I am guessing not because that would cause the new line to have a belly as well? Gotta 6-8 ft of a belly on the sewage line causing a back up every once a while. I can't afford to dig a tunnel for it, what would be your advice, what are my choices? Thanks.
