Donna here, those people that leave insulting comments are what we used to call "telephone tough guys". They will be ugly on the phone but if they deal with you face to face, they won't have the spine to make the same comment to your face. Those type of people have to put others down to bring themselves up. Best not to acknowledge them. Keep doing whatever you feel like doing on YOUR channel, and we'll keep watching.

Robert, I watch many different YT channels of all sorts. A lot of the people who make videos complain about bad comments. It seems like today it’s the thing to do. Personally, if I don’t like a video, I just turn it off and move on without commenting. Keep up the good work on your restoration and the other topics you cover.

I love both your channels. They are so informative and so calming. You are so right to say to educate instead of putting people down. If there is a young person just trying to ask questions they shouldn’t be talked down to. We should be happy we have someone from a new generation wanting to learn or even be interested. I'm 72 and have loved cars since I was 12! My family has had a lot of neat old cars! And, as a woman, a lot of people always assumed I knew nothing about cars. Lol!

Many people are incredibly unkind and outright rude. We should know better. Particularly those of us who are older. I don't know beans about cars but love history and old homes. You're right, our knowledge and interests should be shared with respect and patience. Otherwise, it dies with us.

Robert dont let the downers get you down. Im in my 70's and l like the work you are doing. I didnt read all the comments, but heres a wee tip for using that nasty foam stuff. If you run a strip of tape in the wondow track, you cam get that stuff out when the time comes. Thank you for all the videos of the old place.

Love your videos Robert. All I can say is if you are a keyboard critic then get off your couch, go to Georgia and help Robert with some free labor instead of being a critic. As far as the vehicles you nailed it on people and their attitude. We should in courage the next generations to ask questions and develop an interest in the older vehicles to preserve the history. You have always been one of the first ones to say that you just don’t know on some things and leave comments on what people know or think. I admire what you do so don’t get discouraged over ugly comments. Maybe some have had strokes and lost their filter and now say ugly things. My mother became that way after her stroke. She made comments that would have gotten me boxed in my younger days but she would justify being ugly by saying she was just old now and earned the right to say what she wanted. Well I’m now 67 and still believe there is no excuse for being ugly. We need to build other people up and encourage the younger generations curiosity. It gives us a chance to share knowledge and even learn something new sometimes too. Keep doing what you do. It’s fun to watch your channel.

I feel your frustration Robert, am a sad owner of my late husbands 54 Merc PU, I put it into our local car show and was shunned from the members of the club since I wasn't the one who did all the work, but was too proud to say, I helped him work on it....that was in 09 and now it sits in pieces in a garage 5 hrs. way...will never see it together since I am now in my 70's...my son will take it off my friends hand and mine...so don't take it to heart about the old farts who look down their noses at those who enjoy the era's of vehicles out there....even in Canada they can be insensitive. I enjoy all your videos....

Also, I love hearing the birds in the background of your videos. Robert I enjoyed your video of the old cars that you were showing on your channel it was really interesting to see all the old cars

As someone who has spent decades professionally restoring antique winds I have some tips you may find helpful. 1. After removing old glazing prime the rabbit with a good quality primer. 2. Before installing Glas use a very thin bead of glazing under the glass. 3.press glass into glazing bed and install your pushpoints. 4. Glaze and let dry a minimum of 2 weeks before painting.

Now that is a great caulking job. The last one for sure.

I have been watching for a long time, the amount of work you have done on the Farm is great, the wisteria alone was a challenge, Keep going at your own pace your doing a great Job.

I'm moving into an old Georgia farmhouse tomorrow and I can hardly wait to see what exciting work needs to be done. 😂 I love your videos.

Rudeness and mean comments are not called for, and turn off people. I grew up in the 50s and 60s and we had some of those vehicles and I couldn't remember the years either. I used to glaze windows in high school as part of my job. I can confirm that you should bed your windows in glazing compound before putting the pane in place. Also I know why some of your windows only have points on the bottom. It’s because some people were lazy 140 years ago the same as they are today. Keep up the good work.

Robert I am 70 years old so that’s why I remember the little spike things that went in the window and I grew up in a old house that had the big glass windows in them and we had wooden floors in our house and some of the floors were covered in linoleum and our house had high ceilings and we had space heaters in the house and it was a two story house and we had the old bathtub in our bathroom and if I had to guess the house was probably built in the 40’s

what those “experts’ should be doing is stating what are the subtle differences between the car years. everyone has their specialties with cars, or any hobbies, you own the byrd farm, you can do the windows any way you want. I did glazing in an apartment complex for one of the summers I worked there during the time in college. they were metal frame, so you had to sandwich with the glaze otherwise the glass would brake. along with painting right away! so the glaze does not dry out.such a nice chat, and video!

I learned some things watching you fix your window panes! Thank you. As a female, I've never been faced with that job...yet! But I like knowing how to fix things.

I love watching you do stuff I remember from my youth. I grew up in a late 1940's house with a multiplaned, gorgeous window that I loved. I watched my dad replace one of the panes using points, which I thought were so cool. There's a lot of holding power in those tiny triangles. My whole neighborhood is gone now, taken by LAX and turned into a golf course. I wonder if a metal detector could find one of those points.

I sure wish I could come scrape paint and help paint that beautiful house.

The real valuable contribution of any enthusiast is the ability to pass on the knowledge they have for the benefit of those who do not know pertinent points about any topic.

You just needed new glaze-back to being an expert at installing those windows! They look good and are sealing in the air conditioning, which was your goal. I loved the car video. I know nothing about cars, but I would have had a great time! It appears to be acceptable now to tear others down. Encouraging others seems to be rare anymore. That’s one of the reasons I watch and support OBF and AIH-I find comfort knowing that there are still good, kind people in this world like you, Dan, Cecil, Scott, Brent, The Other Robert, and your other helpers. Btw, that was good thinking with the tractor bucket. Work smarter, not harder, my Granddad always said!

Ah ha! I zoomed, the windows look fine. Compare your original repair to this - improved and you are much more confident and that is how experience works. Experience - I am talking house repair, farm work, gardening, cars, tech, whatever it is. Personally, generational bashing is on my last nerve. You are absolutely correct, there is too much judging and not enough genuine well intentioned sharing. I will say some people also cannot accept the well meaning sharing, nor be patient - it works both ways -- and that is the most important realization that people need. No one knows everything about a subject, listen more. The book you found, IMHO there are no coincidences. As challenging as the work and the channels and maintaining momentum no doubt can be, I whole-heartily believe that you are meant to be there at the Old Byrd Farm saving, learning, teaching. Adventures Into History, likewise; documenting the past, nothing is trivial and you have proved it. History has created the foundation of each day. I can say, lessons learned, knowledge gained, fun had, when watching every episode of both channels. Robert your intelligent, humble and charming ways as a host is so important too. Good for you Robert! I'm glad you said something about those snarky comments the other night. I didn't realize who they (the people) were but they were very condescending and arrogant in what they were saying. Like you said if you were young and if someone treated you like that, you'd remember it and say to yourself I don't want anything to do with that crowd. They say something like you can get 16 compliments and 1 put down and you will forget the compliments but remember the 1 put down. I don't care who you are, you should never make anyone feel dumb for asking an honest question. You aren't Chris Foos (but he strikes me as a really nice guy). You're just a guy that enjoys old cars, some more than others. The only cars that I'm pretty sure that I know the years of are the '55, '56 & '57 Chevys, but I couldn't tell you the exact model names. And I think the only year they made the split back window in the Corvette was '63, but other than that... Does that make me bad? To me, no. If it does to others, thats a pretty bad thing to base a person's worth on! Anyway, Robert, I'm glad you addressed the issue on this video, but I doubt the offenders would be watching it. After all, it's just an old farm with a guy that isn't bent on making a mansion out of this humble farm house, which I love! - Marcia

I don't believe there are coincidences, I think happens because it's supposed to happen, not that we understand why! Just like the house I live in now, I am in a house in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, I know this house was built before statehood, 1906, I found two photos of this house, from the 30's , with my Great Great Grandmother and one of her sons standing in front of it! Something I was not aware of before, she passed away in 1963!

I feel ya, been a car guy my whole life, close to retirement now. I have a small collection of cars, we drag race a few of them etc. I do not like going to shows they are the worst. Your car is never good enough etc. Always running down what you built comparing it to someone else’s car. Those that get ugly don’t have a car and couldn’t build one. Remember a bad comment on your channel is still good for your channel. Love what you’re doing, thanks for sharing.
