How did you remove the gear or what did u used to hold the gear from turning while loosening the bolt on the balance shaft?

I actually did a video on precisely that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QVEi9RkzshE.html Used a pipe wrench and a ratchet. The video will show how.

Update. I just realized, there's a hole straight thru the balance shaft. I stuck a screw driver thru it to hold the shaft in place and was able to loosen the bolt. Thanks for the video.

If your balance shaft is not turning in the rear of your engine, how is your oil pump working?F22b2??

So going by what you said you won't be using the balance shafts. Could you just not install the second smaller timing belt to not have the balance shafts turn. I've thought about doing this on my cb7

Absolutely. I just replaced the oil seals for the shafts and then removed the balance shaft belt. I reassembled everything like normal and just left out the balancer belt tensioner arm and spring. The original function of the balancer shafts in the F series engines was actually just a comfort feature. Since the Accord was Honda's "luxury" car to compete with other brands and in the american market they wanted to minimize as much vibration as possible that could be transmitted to the cab and be felt by the occupants. Their solution was to add 2 weighted shafts that were timed and spun offsetting the engine vibrations. Along with this on automatics they made the rear engine mount an "adaptive" one. Meaning that it operated off of vacuum and ecu control to control how stiff or soft the mount needed to be to minimize vibrations in the cab. It accomplished this using a little vacuum diaphragm on the side of the engine mount and a ecu controlled solenoid on the firewall. When at a stop light idling or cruising on the highway the motor mount stiffness is different. Now that these guys are aged I don't like the idea of the balancer shafts. My reasons are 1. The engine is pushing another load other than normal timing and accessories. This takes away a lot of the general pep the engine has and it uses more gas. 2. The shafts ride on their own bearings. Bearings that on a device that's not important to run the car, if failed, could dump shavings, metal bits, and nasties inside your engine along with possibly popping the belt and throwing it into the timing running a risk of premature and catastrophic engine failure. 3. When the balancer belt is gone it is SO MUCH EASIER to set timing. In my experience removing the shaft belt I couldn't tell a difference in vibration but the engine had more pep and used less gas. Afterwards I replaced the rear motor mount with another adaptive one using the vacuum diaphragm from my old one and it's been really smooth since.

What angle do you need to see it from? It's pretty hard to get a camera in there. Let me know and I'll see what I can do. A closer look can be seen here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QVEi9RkzshE.html
