My bike is a 2009 Ultra Classic and it’s vibrating bad. I figured out that it is the front motor mount. Thank you for that good video. That really helps..👍. Good job 👍

Thanks for the video it gave me some knowledge on what to look for… I did my 2009 FLHR today/ is very similar, removing the voltage regulator 2 1/2 nuts, made it easier to get to the nuts.. a bottle jack works really well too..

Great work, as always! Did you ever find out if the FLT made a difference? End result looked right even if not!

Thanks, Ben! I haven't seen anything about the FLT reference on the package yet, but they sure seem to fit and do what they are supposed to do.

Was the jack necessary for taking off the endcap front mount? I ended up stripping the footboard holes on it. And need to replace the whole face plate. I will not be removing the motor mounts. Just wondering If I need to pick up a jack
@contact4mwy7
@contact4mwy7 3 года назад
I know it helped me to line things up. Gravity is going to pull down on the motor and those mounts are what holds the motor up. I recommend you save yourself some likely aggravation and find one somewhere. The scissor jack I used came from a car I had years ago.

Just out of curiosity why did you take the center brace off why didn't you just unbolt the motor mounts and slide them back into place and then I'd be done with it
@contact4mwy7
@contact4mwy7 2 года назад
Maybe that's another way to do it. I didn't have much to go on, just the service manual.

@@contact4mwy7 okay just curious I'm not sure if it can be done that way or it has to be done the way you did it I was just curious about it thanks for the reply

good stuff, however, you did not need to remove the mount from the engine, you could have removed the large center fasteners on each engine mount, then pulled the mounts out of either side.
@contact4mwy7
@contact4mwy7 3 года назад
But the left hand mount is not visible? I think I even removed the shifter hardware to see if I could get at it.

ok, this is really strange....I came to your vids because my compensator is going out on my 09 Heritage...then I see you may be a firefighter which I am retired firefighter, and I am a musician as well....very strange lol
@contact4mwy7
@contact4mwy7 3 года назад
Ha! Nice to meet you, Billy! If you have the flat compensator instead of the Screamin Eagle most likely the springs have worn out and it's thrashing around making noise and affecting startup?
@BillyBlaze7
@BillyBlaze7 3 года назад
@@contact4mwy7 Yeah mine has just under 13K miles on it, but it does clunk before starting and has a bit of a problem shifting sometimes. I figured it was the start of the compensator going out so I am starting to save money back for the parts, what all did you have to buy to do the entire thing? I know I need the screaming eagle kit, but is there an install kit as well? Thanks for doing the work for this video for unlucky folks like us
@contact4mwy7
@contact4mwy7 3 года назад
I bought a stator rotor cover (it has a ring of magnets inside) as the Screamin Eagle compensator needs to go against the newer rotor for proper chain alignment. I also bought a gasket, o-rings and inner primary bolts kit to seal everything up. I was told the inner primary bolts have a sealant on the heads that is one time use. Now, you could use a Dremel tool to remove some of the inner primary aluminium to slide the original stator rotor out and slide the new one in. I've done this to mine due to having a problem with the first rotor not properly shipped and some magnets got broken which I tried to repair unsuccessfully. I bought my rotor and compensator from motorcycle salvage companies I found in eBay for less money spent. Just know that there is the early Screamin Eagle compensator that has a hex head bolt, and a newer version Screamin Eagle compensator that has an Allen head bolt and requires a plastic funnel to be epoxied onto the primary cover for proper oiling.

@@contact4mwy7 Thanks man, just like all of Harley's engineering snafu's it's enough to make your head spin, I was looking at earlier bikes but wanted to avoid the cam chain tensioner issue and somehow completely missed this issue which is equally as expensive if not more expensive. I am looking into a compensator eliminator and manual chain adjuster right now and at the moment thats where my gut is telling me to go. More research is needed I suppose. I just wish Harley would step up on issues like this but I should know better by now lol Funny thing is the only Harley I had that didn't have an engineering screw up was my 08 Nighster lol I had a 2012 Slim and the voltage regulator had a recall and when mine went out the Stealership told me the recall had expired, have you ever heard of a recall expiring? me either, especially on a part that can kill your bike while you are riding down the road. Keep the dirty side down bro and thanks again for the help, I have subbed to your channel
@contact4mwy7
@contact4mwy7 3 года назад
Thanks for the comments, Billy. No, I have not heard of a recall having an expiration date, that seems odd. I took mine in for the ABS brake bleed recall two years after I got the notice. I know there are a number of bikes running the compensator eliminator, but I hear you have to get used to riding a little different by keeping the rpms higher, no low rpm lugging. It worried me to go that route wondering if the primary chain, clutch, transmission, drive belt and rear wheel could handle the increased engine pulses.
