It was leaking badly.. So I had to change it out. I was not willing $176 to have it done. So its about a 15 min job (Unless the stupid clip on the plug is inaccessible.
Anyway here is the socket I bought for the job ....
amzn.to/2Ra7Wyp Oil Pressure Switch Socket.
This is the Mosquito Head net that made it all possible amzn.to/2Qj7wVi

Just replaced my leaking sensor two days ago, was afraid that I had to pull the distributor out, but thanks to you I replaced that sensor without taking out the distributor, thanks.

LOL. I thought your engine was taking a smoke break. Yep, I've had one of those sockets for forty years now. Glad some things stay the same.

Thanks for the vid. I’m positive I have that leak. After seeing where it’s located, I understand why the previous owner left it alone. It seems like when I have vehicle problems, assorted bad isht happens to me too. You’re not alone.

Thumbs up and subscribed. Fighting the bugs and doing the work, should have gotten you a medal (Let alone videoing it for us). Hope that wife knows how lucky she is, and how lucky you are to have that wife. Thanks for the video.

This video lacks the crucial part of seeing the sensor actually being taken out but it did give me some more confidence that the oil pressure switch on a 4.3 could indeed be replaced without messing with removing the distributor. I was able to do it too but I will say that I can see were removing the distributor would have made it a bit easier. My issue wasn't so much of access because of the distributor but more because its tucked away so far in the back. A step stool to help get a bigger guy as myself up into the back of the engine bay would've made things easier but I still managed.

Ya anything down behind there in those trucks is awful you have to use mirrors etc to see what you’re looking for it is not too bad to r&r those distributors then it makes it a little easier but still an awkward workspace

Vicks vapor rub, mate. Mosquitos hate the cedar leaf oil. Put it all over yourself when you work on your stuff outside and have no bites and clear sinuses

Yes or you can ingest a small bit of tea tree oil daily and your sweat glands will emit residue, they will avoid you then, it works

And that is why American car manufacturers lost so many sales, poor engineering. There is no reason to hide a oil pressure sensor back there. Glad you got it done.

I have been told that 18 lbs of pressure is normal for this generation Blazer. That info was from a dealership here in town.

Subbed your channel my Brother Thank you so VERY much for the Video ! You make it look easy lol ! I want go out a mechanical oil gauge in .But after watching you I think I'll go stick unless the sensor is over $20 . If it is a whole mechanical gauge kit with the tubing ( copper ) is $18 at AutoZone . That's exactly where it looks like it's leaking from .. Praying for y'all ! Also anyone else that has a Blazer the oil & Transmission lines going into the radiator in both sides have 2 two rubber I rings on each line that ho bad .after replacing these ( with the help of a friend ) it took care of a BUNCH of oil & trans oil leaks in the front . Godbless and Godspeed

@ericdube836 Год назад
Unfortunately if you want to add the mechanical oil pressure gauge you would need to add a tee off where the oil pressure switch goes because the oil pressure switch sends power to the fuel pump so just removing the oil pressure switch and putting a mechanical gauge won't work I tried.but,a better option is install a new oil pressure switch and glow shift has an oil filter sandwich adapter that has multiple plugs for adding mechanical gauges and other stuff that's the way to go as much as I hate using adapters between oil filters because it's just another couple places to potentially leak from it's a good solution for this application.

I fixed my no oil pressure at idle when warm by getting an oil change . I had just bought the truck and it was way over filled.idk why it fixed it but it did.

Just to give everyone a heads up on replacement parts. That O’Reilly’s Master Pro house brand oil switch that I used on the same repair only lasted 36 months (with very low milage) and blew out worse than the original; a massive a oil leak that happened all at once. I tried the Auto Zone brand and now the gauge reads 10 pounds on the happy side; going back to OEM, at least it last 16 years!

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend going with AC Delco especially for this part. It's already a huge pain to get to, get the oem part that is going to last.

I have a 93 S-10 Blazer and I'm trying to figure out what kind of switch is located on the drivers side by the spark plugs, I thought it was the temp switch for the gauge but I found that on the passenger side. Any ideas on what this switch is? It looks like it might take a 1.5 socket or larger to get it off. It has a single green wire going to it.

How were you able to maneuver the socket on to the switch? The one i bought is just to long not enough clearance to get it on the switch. Any tips??
@NorthCarolinaPrepper
@NorthCarolinaPrepper 4 года назад
I put the oil sending unit in the socket and got it started by hand. Then slipped the socket on it. I think I had a small extension like a size adapter and then fumbled my way in blind to put the socket and the rinch together . It was a super pain in the butt it was hot and I was being attacked by mosquitoes.

I have an 02' Blazer ZR2 & changed mine last year, 2022. My pressure runs around 20 at idle & 50 when running.. That's with the oil cooler lines removed. It will run higher on a fresh oil change. As you put miles on it, the pressure drops. When I first deleted the cooler lines, it ran around 60 But, slowly dropped off.

Oh boy was that a pain in the butt. I climbed up to of the engine and use my cell phone in selfie mode (front facing camera) and got the socket on then used a extender to connect the ratchet to the socket. I think halfway thought I had to take to ratchet out and use my fingers to get it out because it was hitting the back fire wall.

Will this make you oil pressure go down when in park or at ideal bc mine is fine when driving but if it is setting it drops way down
@sundancer76
@sundancer76 4 года назад
Sounds ok to me! It would drop all the way down and not go up if something was wrong. When you rev the motor while idling, it should fluctuate back and forth. While driving it should stay above, at least 40. Then, when you come to a stop, it goes back down. Repeat.

I'm in north Carolina this was after the big hurricane and the Mosquitoes were out of control so I lit a mosquito coil under the hood of the truck. It kept them out of my face. When I was under the hood breathing my the CO2 in by breath would attract them and they would attack me mercilessly. So I had to fight back.
