Nice car. Unlike modern cars, on this one you have the ability to work on it.

Haha well depends on the brand of modern car. Some still allow you to work on them easily.

Thank you for this video today. It's rainy today, on my day off. I now have a garage to work on my Corolla wagon. Been sitting on four brand new spark plugs for a year and don't have a torque wrench. Thank you, thank you, thank you 👏

I'm glad the video came in handy! For spark plugs you can often just go snug and you'll be all set, unless of course there is some special tightenting procedure for that specific engine. But on most spark plugs that have that crush washer 1/2-2/3 of a turn will do the job. If you ever have spark plugs that don't have the crush washer, bottom it out, and give it a good snug. Not too much! But snug. And that's how you install them without a torque wrench.

Yeah I'm trying to get some of them out. I have one more filmed that needs to be edited. But a lot of stuff is already replaced on this car and I have others in need of repairs so that's why I mainly post stuff about other cars now.

How do you reseal the windshield moulding for this Corolla? At 6:10, your car has a windshield moulding problem too. It's on your driver side. It's near the antenna.
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 6 месяцев назад
Well... you can do it the right way by pulling the windshield off and resealing it as if you were installing a new windshield, or you can use a bunch of silicone and try to make it look as clean as you can lol

@@AutoFixYT Would help me with my 2003 Toyota Corolla, which had odometer maxed out in 2018. So far, I have been adding 4oz of Seafoam with each oil change in hopes of loosening carbon deposits on oil control ring
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 2 года назад
@@Pallidus_Rider Wow you maxed out the odometer? As in you rolled past 1 million miles?! Haha that's crazy! And yes that usually does help. Another thing that can help is use oils with hugh levels of cleaner. I prefer castrol GTX ultraclean. Also, if you are really trying to clean it, replace 2 quarts of oil with 2 quarts of ATF. Then run the engine for 15-20 min, maybe even 30 min. Do not drive it, just let it idle. You can't drive it with that mixture unless you use 20w-50 to make up for the very thin ATF. Then drain it and fill with your usual oil again. Of course, new filter every time you change fluids.

can you do a video of how to replace a oil pan gasket, i have a 97 corolla CE 1.6 engine
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 2 года назад
I will add that to my list! But its very easy on these cars. 1. Drain the oil 2. Put the drain plug back 3. Unbolt all 10mm bolts holding the oil pan on 4. Take a screwdriver or small ory bar and hammer it GENTLY between the lower pan and the upper pan (or the block if the 1.6 doesn't have an upper and lower pan). Hammer and pry gently until the pan comes off. If it bends in the process, you'll have to somehow straighten it out. 5. With the off, do whatever it takes to clean the gasket on both the pan and the engine 6. Degrease both surfaces and apply black RTV all around the oil pan 7. Resecure the pan finger tight 8. After 10 min torque it down to 7 ft lbs, or at least make it tight by hand 9. I like to wait for an hour or two before adding oil, preferably overnight, but if you have to run it right away then just go for it, but basically this step is to add oil and change your filter too. 10. Clean up all the leftover oil from the leak so you can tell when there's a new leak.

I just replaced my spark plugs that I bought from autozone the guy told me they didn’t need to be gap. So I install them and notice with the Ngk GP Platinum 7090 took longer to start on my car. The old ones where Cooper and V power model. Anyone know the issue btw I also replaced my wires with NGKs. Kinda disappointed since it’s not starting like before
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT Год назад
No need for platinum plugs on this engine. Stick with copper ones. The ignition system isn't made to handle the platinum plugs. Go back to copper and you should be all set. Also, being copper, you can at least check the gap on them. Make sure it's within spec (it will say it in your owner's manual). Make sure you buy either Denso or NGK plugs, no other brand.

Where those headlights came from?
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 2 года назад
Well... They're kinda custom lol. They're black housing headlights with clear reflector black housing corner lights (not the orange reflector black housing ones). I then took those apart and retrofitted a universal projector in the low beams. I also plastidipped the reflector on the low beams so it can be black. Then I closed it all up and put LEDs in all the lights except the turn signals. I want those to stay with regular incandescent bulbs. Fits the car better. It was a lot of work to get those all together and especially to aim them properly but it's done and I love the way it looks and performs.
