This the is held in by two bolt which makes this a 20-30 minute job rather than a 2 minute job. But with a few simple tools and some patience, anyone with average mechanical ability should be able to handle this task. The fuse burned out as the result of jumping the truck after the battery died. The cables got crossed (not blaming anyone) and the fuse blew. After the battery was replaced, the truck still didn't start. The fuse was the next thing to check. It was burned through and a trip to the parts store $3 and 30 minutes later the truck was back on the road. So if you cross the cables don't despair. It's a cheap and relatively easy fix.

*This battery reconditioning program exceeded my presumptions. It worked on any drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries, **batery.repair** and any camera battery. The steps are simple and the act itself is exciting to do. No matter what type of battery you`ve got, it is sure to function again!*

You saved me a $1,700 repair part and the labor charge to install it. I would have had to buy a fusebox and wiring harness for $1,700 plus the installation charge and maybe a towing charge to get this Frontier to the Nissan shop, if I had followed my local Nissan dealership's advice. Another shop may have gotten it for half that money, but nobody yet has found another fusebox for sale without the wiring harness. I gave your channel a Thumbs Up and Subscribed. I have had this Frontier for twenty years. The top electrical service technician at my local Nissan dealership thought that the 80 amp battery fuse had become too hot and melted and fused itself permanently into the fusebox. He made no mention of the 2 bolts on each side of the fuse that were holding it in the fusebox. And, the 2 prongs on the fuse are solid copper, which doesn't melt easily. Nissan refused to replace the fuse because they thought that it would pull the fusebox out with the fuse, since he thought that it was melted together. I watched your video twice and picked out some tools and replaced the fuse. And, after I left Nissan yesterday, I drove my Frontier to 2 other places (which I won't name) who also didn't know how to replace the fuse because they didn't know about those 2 bolts on the side. How did I start it with a blown fuse to drive it to other shops? We crossed over the fuse with a screwdriver, because we had broken the fuse into a dozen pieces trying to pull it out with needle nose pliers because we hadn't watched your video and didn't know about those 2 bolts that were holding the fuse in.

Just saved me a lot of work. Fuse was burned through and I was only getting power to the blower and some other ancillary systems, but the aux. lights and stuff wouldn't light up on ACC and obviously nothing to the starter. Tried various known good batteries to same effect. Tried to just pull the fuse out and the brittle plastic exploded, leaving the two prongs, so I thought I needed a whole new holder unit. Nope, just gotta get it out and pull the bolts and put a new fuse in (and a 40A one I accidentally exploded with a tool lol).

That one had about 130K miles before it got totaled. The one i currently have now, i got it when she had about 160K miles and AC would blow cold. But now that she's almost at 220K miles she's starting to struggle a bit and not blow cold anymore especially in heavy traffic or on idle. Might be time for a new compressor. 👍

The main positive battery terminal fusible link has blown about 3 times in the last 3 years. Started to get really annoying but I knew nothing about cars, shorts or shit. Then last week it blew TWICE in a single day. I had it towed to firestone because I was tired of buying $40+ fusible link each time when its just gonna blow again (and I had an overheating issue which I was set to be seen there for that day...apparently it's just coincidence that the overheating and fuse blowing happened at the same time, according to firestone). Anyway, apparently firestone isn't really a place that would diagnose such an issue but I've been studying and researching 24/7 since then about various issues in my car. And it appears to me there must be a short on the cable that goes from the battery positive terminal to the starter or possibly the negative terminal to the transmission. I have no idea how easily it would be to find a short visually in those cables because my car is still at firestone but I'll be getting it back soon so ill start there
@ManCrafting
@ManCrafting 4 года назад
Electrical issues can be a pain. You may also want to check the ground wires. There should be at least one to the body. Maybe another to the frame. I’d have to look at a schematic. Not 100% sure where on the Nissan they are.
@amaebarnes
@amaebarnes 4 года назад
@@ManCrafting So I got ready to trace those battery cables which I think are maybe going to show some kind of obvious burning through the insulation and show exposed wires or whatever. Then when I go to look at them, all these damn cables from every which way are wrapped in tons of electrical tape, then those cables are bundled with other cables coming from other components and then wrapped all together in that split loom stuff. Do I need to cut off all that split loom stuff to look for the culprit? I don't know how one would use a continuity checker either or whatever, with all this crap bundled and hidden under plastic. Forgive me for sounding stupid, I barely understand what any of this means. If it's too difficult, I can hire one of those mobile mechanics for electrical diagnosis but I just thought I might be able to see it myself if it was like one cable from the battery to starter (everyone said it would be a visual inspection) but i didn't expect all these bundles and other insulation covering everything haha
@amaebarnes
@amaebarnes 4 года назад
I also just realized that we've had the alternator replaced 3 times in the last 3-4 years. Now that I'm learning more/reading more, I'm starting to realize that it probably wasn't just multiple alternators have gone bad on their own... I'm assuming either the short broke the alternators or the mechanics diagnosed the issue as an alternator issue without testing if there was a short? We've replaced 3 alternators, 5 main fusible links, 2 positive battery terminal clamps (because they were corroded and lost contact) and the battery has been replaced multiple times, I don't remember how many. Is it possible that the mechanics just never tested for a short? This many replacements doesn't seem normal, i would think.
