Through the glove box pull the blower motor and carefully clean the evaporator core. Many of these are filled with debris from leaves and dirty. There are several good videos on RU-vid to show you how. Will drastically improve your air flow for heat and ac.
@irishuwould5185
@irishuwould5185 2 года назад
I need to do that. I paid 1350 for a whole new ac in my 94 and the air flow isn’t strong at all. I hope that will fix the issue. I’m sure it hasn’t been cleaned, but who knows. I bought it back in February.

@@irishuwould5185any updates on that? Exact problem I have everything was replaced but the evaporator core.
@irishuwould5185
@irishuwould5185 Год назад
@@OBSKEV mine was filled up with leaves and all kinds of stuff like I figured it would be. I cleaned the evap and rinsed it down good. The air flow is better I will say.

@@irishuwould5185 Dope. Before cleaning it out would it blow cold or no? Mine isn’t blowing cold. A/C lines get ice cold though.
@irishuwould5185
@irishuwould5185 Год назад
@@OBSKEV yea it was cold but it froze up and I had to turn the ac off and just let the fan blow. The coils would freeze over cuz it was clogged. It still does that but just takes longer now.

Omg this is so much easier than I anticipated, the last one I did was with my buddy on his Sonoma, 2003 I believe and it's behind the entire dash ugh 😩

Thanks for the walk through, a towel is useful on the Pax side floor in case there is residual coolant in old core. Cheers.

I wish all cars were this easy lol. I daily a 94 and have never replaced mine. Always heard it was easy to swap, now I know haha. I changed the one on my dad's 2nd gen dodge and had to require the help of my buddy to maneuver the dash out of the way, it was not very fun lol

If you are handy there is a way to replace the evaporator from the engine compartment. No dash removal necessary. Unlearned how by watching a few YT videos. I know this is a 2 year old comment but other people will see this comment in the future.

Do these heater cores tend to leak antifreeze? I have a leak and though it was the hose but I checked and no holes and even bought a new clamp same issue maybe this is my issue?

Its under the hood on the firewall side not in the cab where the heater core hoses connect

@bob oh stephens I’m not sure we didn’t mess with it. Maybe someone else can help with the location.
@fauxque5057
@fauxque5057 3 месяца назад
I believe that it's controlled with a blend door. You are just redirecting air flow and not bypassing the flow of anything other than the air. And wait till you get the pleasure of replacing the blend door actuator for the heater core. The truck has 3 actuators but that heater core door is the worst. It only has 2 screws. One isn't all that bad, the other is that bad

Do you have to recharge AC after replacing?
@SuburbanRanch

@Niklas Acuña the AC is not connected to the heater core so the answer is no.
