I know it’s a pain needing ODIS but really enjoyed seeing that, I’ve owned VW DSG’s since 2014 but have never seen the mechatronics box before.

Another top piece of work Dean, well done. Annoying that you couldn’t of finished it but we know everything has been done right and will run smoothly in the end.👍🏽😎

Love the videos. I change my dsg oil from the top through the filter housing. No need for the special tool

Great vid, can see now the work involved in gearbox oil change!, that’s why they charge so much for it!, and the coding that can only be done by them, had to get similar done recently

Good work 👍 there’s whole world of complicated bits when you split the mechatronic there’s oil seal that goes between both sides they are common.

Top ‘bodge’ with that silicone gun nozzle reducer. Impressive.

The RS3 sounds fantastic shame all of your work has been put on hold because of the computer. Must be frustrating Dean but keep on going you are one top mechanic.

I'm surprised VCDS can't do that I literally thought it did everything. I was trying to do a forced regeneration on my b8 TDI the other day and it just kept saying aborted safety reasons and I've no idea why, it's done it fine in the past when I've tried it. Hello. You nead to have the same software in new mechatrinic. Than you should be able to do basic setings with wagcom. Just switch your old software from the old mechatronics or go to the reseller and he will do it

I did read that there is a service bulletin from VW that says the mechatronics fails is the gearbox oil as certain values in that causes electrical short circuit in it

transmission working absolutely fine just I’m getting error repeatedly Gearbox is overheating change driving style .. and fault code is P1765 hydraulic sensor 2 adaptation limit reached ( g194).. the local mechanic recommend to change valve body ..

The B8 has the same issues with the DSG , only Audi would place an electronic item in the gearbox oil ???? When my B8.5 started playing up Audi wanted to replace the gearbox at £7.5k but my Indy just changed the fluid and flushed and it was fine , got rid straight after and now B9 back to standard auto 👍 love the vids

I recently ought a 2017 Skoda fabia. With the vow dq200. Dsg gearbox. I knew nothing about how problematic these gearboxes can be. After reading so many bad stories I feel like I’m driving around Wondering when it’s going to go wrong

Looks complicated, but it is a swap in new unit. Pity about the specialist coding needed. Hopefully your local Audi dealer gives you mates rates. Always annoying when you have buy special tools also. Fingers crossed that she is sorted after coding. 👍

Had a similar coding issue replacing a b8.5 gearbox, the mechatronics has component protection and needs to have same immo data as the rest of the car. You need an Odis level software but also the gecko security licence to do component protection work, which you need to apply for to VAG. I ended up swapping the original mechatronics in since there wasn't an issue with it. Good luck

You can clone your mechatronic unit with pcmflash or other tuning tool

Just an observation: If you want to reset your gearbox, it will have to cycle the gears. You had your engine running, do you think putting the car in gear would be safe?

Is fixing the unit not cheaper?. Or letting it fixed by a shop. Just thinking

I'm no expert but I think you need to go into adaptation and add the details from your old mechatronic, not basic settings. I don't think you need to take it to the main agent

Great video same vag could not manufacturer a conventional oil filter plug any thing to stop people servicing there own cars, mate had a A4 steering rack ECU fail you can only buy the ECU with the rack on his model £1600 what a scam on top of that would not plug and play took a lot to get Audi to give him the code to make it work,the car just needs a slot in the roof and you have a pig bank

Can't you just swap the black TCU over to the new mechatronics unit? Like in the more common ZF transmissions so you don't need to worry about coding? Then you can simply reset the adaptions and have the shift points re-learned.

I wish I had bought brand new when my mechatronic went on my 8P RS3. Bought one that was apparently refurbed, it was worse than that old one! Only saved £500 buying refurbed.

Great Blog, are all these mechatronics / DSG gearboxes that same sort of set up ? I have a Q5 and worry about the gearbox as I hear the electronics burn out in them over time, where did you get the new bit from and how much do they cost, just so I know what I could be looking at should I need to ever fix mine, thanks Paul

It's inside those fail looks like box as been serviced as she got clean fluid

Thanks. Great video. I was wondering if it is wise to check and replace the clutch plates also when I let replace the mechatronic? Clutch is sometimes not smooth when driving slowly in traffic in second gear or the car needs to pick up in second gear. My Audi A6 S-tronic probably needs the mechatronic to be replaced. I got some strange message displayed that the gearbox is running hot and that I need to change my driving style. When the message appears I am driving 60 miles mph and do nothing wrong. Vagcom error code is P17D800 torsion decrease because of clutch temperature. My Audi a6 3.0 TDI has driven 125.000 miles. thanks for the advice.

Hey man.. any luck with the basic settings? I'm facing the same problem and when I install the new mechatronic and after a few failed attempts with vcds appeared a fault code p0607.. Do you have any ideas 💡 🤔?

You didn't reset the selectors!!!! Did you not do any research on this procedure?

You'll come to use that sealant in a few months and wonder where the nozzle went 😀😀
