Simple, straightforward and easily understood explanation of how to replace an 1866's main spring. About the only thing I do differently, is to place a shim between the frame and main spring, rather than loosening the spring retaining screw to control spring tension. The mainspring retaining screw can then be tightened fully.

isnt there already a 'hump' there? In the brass, formed/cast in? On the bottom or top?

My bowl broke on my 1866 the little bottom piece of it on the last time I went to shoot called manufacturers from all over no one had one to replace it because I haven't very old uberti 1866 bought a new bolt and it's too long keep in mind my 66 is a 38 special the bolt that I bought is for 357 or 38

Yesterday I shot an 1866 45 Colt for the first time, in a match, without even a single test shot before. I ended up top Frontier Cartridge and 6 overall out of 19 shooters. Not a big turnout due to 97 degree heat. Great fun!

I’ve pretty much gone to a once a month upload schedule. Between this channel, my other channel and life (family, hobbies, chores), I realized I don’t have time for a consistent weekly-upload. So, my choice was to post basic, unedited, stage shooting videos on this channel WEEKLY or keep up with the quality editing long-form content that JED iTV is known for and post less often. I choose the latter. I have often thought about doin’ an episode on Guncarts… one of these day.

Finally got back out there this pasted week.Covid out me out of commission since Oct. Got to use my new 66, and 87. Won the Fla Best dressed Classic Cowboy. Not clean missed 2times. That 66 ran really fast. 87 took five stages to figure it out by the last stage I was in the mid 30's. Hopefully next big match those number will improve. Good video. I have every spring I've ever changed just in case one break.

Hey, Jed I! I have a question if you dont mind. Im torn between purchasing the Uberti Cattleman 2 and a Ruger Vaquero. I know by watching your videos you shoot a plethora of Ubertis, but others have said that the Vaquero is far superior to the Uberti revolvers… as someone with not a lot of money i want to make the best purchase. If you have time, id love to hear your opinion on which is “better” and why. Its worth saying, currently in 2023 the Uberti Cattleman 2 im finding for $550 in my area, and the Ruger Vaquero is $850 (give or take $50 on both firearms)… id love to hear your response! And thank you for your time! Love the videos!
@JEDiTV
@JEDiTV Год назад
Well, I shoot Rugers, Uberti and Piettas… and don’t have an issue with any of ‘em. I have one pair of Uberti’s that gave me issues from the start and have been to a ‘smith several times. Other than that pair every other Italian revolver I have is stock, taken straight out of the box to the range. I did buy a pair of Rugers recently and had them tricked up with just about everything a gunsmith could do to ‘em - and, yep, they shoot great. But, it was a LOT of money to get that done and I mostly did it because of what I do. The Ubertis/Piettas are going to be a lot more authentic to the original firearms of the era. The Rugers are probably going to be a little sturdier in build quality, maybe. You should try ‘em both and see which fits your hand better. Unless there is a big difference in the way they feel to you… well, I wouldn’t pay an extra $600 for a pair of firearms if I was on a budget. I hope that info helps in making a decision.

Ouh this one has not safety device under hammer like 1873 ... Should I remove it on my 1873?
@JEDiTV
@JEDiTV 2 года назад
In my opinion, no. In fact, I really wish the ‘66 came with the lever safety that is on the ‘73. If you run a ‘66 really fast it is possible to have an out-of-battery discharge. This happens when you pull the trigger without having the lever all the way closed. It’s dangerous (ask me how I know 😉). Leave that safety where it is, it’s a design improvement. -Jed. 🤠
