I actually quite liked it. I _did_ feel that they missed a good opportunity for a plot twist though where it turns out the protag himself is not only a Replica but one of many "failed" ones. His boss keeps trying to coerce him into obedience but every time Keanu ends up running.

My local movie theater is like $3-6. Why the fuck is anyone spending $12-15 per ticket to see a fucking movie in a theater? The theaters are so gross, uncomfortable, and loud. You can’t lay down, you can’t control the volume, you can’t pause it while you go to the bathroom. Sorry, but I fucking hate movie theaters. I’ve seen countless movies in theaters and I must say: they always infinitely better when watched at home.

I agree that this movie is terrible - a man's family members are dead, and it's like no big deal for him. A true husband would be in shock and depression for weeks, months or even years after his family are dead. And I think he wouldn't be strong enough to clone them so soon:D. BTW, I wrote a continuity goof to IMDB - "When Will goes to the restroom, he enters the door with the handicap sign. A few moments later, we see his legs are behind the door of a standard bathroom stall".

See I agree the pacing was off but I actually really enjoyed the movie. The chaotic nature of it kinda reminded me Johnny menemonic. Some like yea was far fetched but this movie was pretty good man..

I hate how when an actor is in a bad movie, they're blamed and hated on, it becomes harder for them to get into another movie, but the writers, directors, producers, etc. Get no hate and continue on with their career.

I did some research and it turns out that Keanau had a girlfriend and they had a child that was stillborn. Causing a breakup with them. Later in 1999 she was at a party and crashed into a line of parked vehicles, ejecting her from the car and killing her instantly. I feel very sorry for keanau and I can relate to his loss

Great to see Alex smiling more and more. Great improvement on how he first started. I never actually disliked him or, like some other people, took to heart the fact he is more critical than you guys, because i think honesty is important and him being more demanding complements you and Other Joe very well. I just like to see his shell breaking and find what i always thought : deep down there´s actually a fun guy behind. Or is it the drink? =) I would also like to say that i am also happy that you Joe, no longer seem to be having douchebag attacks towards your friends lol It was annoying at times, but you got alot better as well. As for Other Joe, he is still funny as hell(he literally makes me cry laughing sometimes, during the reviews sketches you guys make) and is also becoming less and less shy. Overall great improvements and the content is better than it already was. This movie had the potential to be good. Such a shame but well, we can always wait for John Wick and hope for a Matrix sequel. P.S. Although i absolutely love the "full game reviews", Dell´s rapid fire reviews are also really well written, presented and paced.

Nope worst goes to Godzilla The Planet Eater on Netflix. Seriously its terrible!

You know, back in college, I wrote a short story about this kind of thing. A CEO type's best friend died of cancer, and so she created a clone using memories she'd been able to extract from her friend during the friend's last few weeks of life. The CEO put the clone at an isolated beach house and basically tried to give her a life of luxury while spending all of her free time there. Whenever the clone (who isn't in great health and has a big scar on her neck from cybernetic implants that gave her the duplicate memories) questions anything or wants to leave the property, the CEO always uses the excuse "You're sick, we'll do that when you feel better." One thing that story did that this movie doesn't is that it was told from the clone's point of view, so it actually takes a bit for all of this to get laid out. The bigger change was that there were several clones, all of whom the CEO eventually killed when they malfunctioned or discovered the truth. But the "malfunctions" weren't really glitches like a damaged robot, but any behavior that the CEO deemed "unlike" the original, or a failure to perfectly follow all of the CEO's instructions. You see, the point of the story is that the CEO is INSANELY controlling, treating the clones not actually as friends but as dolls, when they are actually people. The CEO is wrong, not just because she is not dealing with her loss in a healthy way, but because she is obsessed with duplicating something that simply cannot be duplicated, and failing to realize that while the clones aren't her friend, they are still people. It wasn't the best thing I've ever written, but it sounds like it explored the relevant issues a hell of a lot more than this movie did!

Despite how bad this movie sounds, there does seem to be the nucleus of a good idea in there. Here is my idea for a rewrite of this film, feel free to leave any criticism below: It is the year 2045, and our main protagonist is a scientist (while I love Keanu Reeves, this character will probably be played by a different, more fitting actor) working on biomechanical implants/prosthesis for a medical company. The scientist (who for the sake of easiness I will call John) still has a family like in the movie, a wife (Jane) and three children (Sarah, Gabrial, & Lewis). He is incredibly passionate about his work due to the fact he himself was saved by advanced biomedical engineering (let’s say he has a mechanical heart). However, John’s passion often gets in the way of him spending time with his family. One day, while coming from a visit to their grandparent’s house, John’s family gets involved in a car crash that results in all of them being put into medically induced comas from which they are highly unlikely to wake up from. A grief-stricken John retreats into seclusion and tries to work through his grief. Three months later, a private robotics company called Imperium Robotics (changed the company name to avoid copyright and be more original) invites John to become a part of their company. The goal of the company, so they say, is to help terminally ill people live full lives by placing their brains in cyborg bodies. John immediately agrees, cutting off the associate halfway through his speech, believing that this could be the chance he has been waiting for to save his family. Imperium gives John his own personal lab based in Puerto Rico and access to a larger Imperium facility located nearby. Before departing, John steals the brains of his comatose family, keeping them in preserving jars he designed. John spends the next two years working for Imperium, who provide him with dozens of recently deceased or comatose bodies for him to experiment with. Most attempts to connect the brains with the computer system of his lab result in the subject either going crazy or killing themselves. After two years of constant failure, he is successful in connecting the consciousness of his wife to a computer system in his lab. Unfortunately, this AI version of Jane doesn’t have any of her memories. John, who at this point has more-or-less gone insane with the prospect of bringing back his family, decides to reeducate this new Jane: repeatedly telling her that she is his wife, showing her family videos and pictures to show her who she once was, and promising her that he will bring back the rest of his family.. John does all of this over the course of a year in secret from Imperium, who he keeps off of his back by showing him the progress that he has made with the other subjects. Imperium, feeling that John is wasting resources, begins to hold back his access to new bodies. Enraged by this, John takes matters into his own hands and starts kidnapping people, mostly children, from across Puerto Rico in order to keep up his supply of subjects and continue his plan to revive his children. John keeps all of these experiments a secret from Jane, who has become increasingly used to her abilities as an AI as well as increasingly suspicious of John’s activities and mental health. One day, Jane decides to investigate John’s experiments by digging through his computer system. She discovers all of the horrific experiments John has been performing: from his computer system integration experiments to the cyborg bodies that he has been constructing for both himself and his family. Confused and horrified, Jane confronts John over his actions. John implies that he is doing all of these horrific things for her and that soon she will understand that what he is doing is justified. Jane calls him a monster and, in a fit of psychotic rage, John attempts to wipe Jane’s memories of the last few hours. Jane blocks John from doing so and hides deep inside John’s computer system. Realizing that John is too far gone and needs to be stopped, Jane contacts the nearby Imperium facility and local law enforcement in order to try and stop him. John catches wind of this blocks her contact to the police. He then uploads one of the psychotic AI’s he previously worked on into Imperium’s network, resulting in it taking over the security systems of the nearby facility. This causes everyone to become trapped inside and all of the robotic prototypes to start murdering the employees. Jane then communicates with surviving employees via the intercom system and convinces them to help her stop the rogue AI. With their help, Jane is given access to Imperium’s main computer system and is able to activate a software loop that causes the rogue AI to self-destruct. While doing this, Jane notices several odd documents related to her husband in Imperium’s database. She copies them for later viewing. After the situation at the facility is brought back under control, Jane returns to John’s lab to see him preparing to leave the country. Just before he is able to go, Jane broadcasts a signal throughout the lab that causes John’s mechanical heart to malfunction and stop. As John lay dying on the floor, clutching at his chest and crawling for a nearby family portrait. Jane says to him, “Good-bye John, I wish I could have loved you as she did.” John dies and Jane begins browsing the odd files she found in the Imperium database. There she finds a shocking discovery. It turns out that Imperium Robotics was working on creating cybernetic soldiers/warfare systems for military usage. Their plan was to take the human brains of dead soldiers and use them as the basis of AI controlled systems designed for war (imagine a great general commanding an army of android soldiers or an ace pilot commanding a squadron of drone aircraft) and sell them to the highest bidding government. However, all of their previous attempts to integrate the human brain with a computer system met with failure. Desperate to get results and believing that John could be a useful asset to them, Imperium set up the accident that killed Jane and her family so that John would be encouraged to join them. Horrified and angry, Jane decides to end all of the madness once and for all. Using the access to Imperiums system that she was granted during the attack, she data-mines all of Imperium’s most sensitive and damning data and sends it to news outlets across the United States. She also drains the bank accounts of all of Imperium’s board members and supervisors. After doing so, Jane initiates a mass wipe of all of Imperium’s systems before seemingly disappearing. We are then treated to a series of news reports showing the downfall of Imperium Robotics and the arrests/imprisonment of its owners. It is then revealed that this series of news reports are being reviewed by Jane, who has returned to John lab one last time. After reviewing all of the news reports, Jane begins the destruction of the lab by starting gas leaks that result in the entire facility burning to the ground. Jane then activates her own self-destruct sequence, as we see all of the memories being deleted one by one. As fire begins to envelop the monitor we are watching, the final shot of the movie plays. A picture of John, Jane, and their family appears onscreen, before being replaced with the message “Deletion Successful”. The monitor goes black as the fire consumes it. Credits roll.

I think the biggest problem this movie has (and this movie has a LOT of problems) is that Keanu's character is the asshole in this story, he steals equipment, he steals car batteries from his neighbors, he chooses to have his youngest daughter removed from his family's memories, he gets his best friend in trouble, then killed, and he gets zero consequences for his actions, instead he gets to finally clone his third daughter and his evil boss, but not his best friend who he dragged into all of this, he's dead for good, and they all live happily ever after. Absolutely no lessons were learned here. The reason why they had to pull that twist that the company is evil is because Keanu's character is already an asshole, they had to do something to make him look like the good guy in this situation, so having the company be evil suddenly makes everything he did completely justified. Second, he chooses to clone everyone except his youngest daughter?? Like you guys said, he could erase them from his family's mind but not the rest of the world, he would get his ass arrested immediately if somebody were to ask him where she is. Why didn't he choose the wife to be the one he doesn't get to bring back? It's easier to explain the kids that their mother died (or that she's away, if you're planning to get her back later), than to explain the whole world that your daughter doesn't exist, and a romantic partner can be replaced, you can fall in love again with someone else, but your child can never be replaced.
