If I do remember correctly, Scott Wills' smaller paintings are meant to be color keys/rough passes that he uses as reference for the final image, so he can figure out the composition and the colors he'll use for them. There was a tutorial video he did for the overseas outsource painters where he was painting the final background on a larger paper, it was around an 11x13 inch one if I'm remembering it right. Very insightful video, I never really thought to mix together black and yellow to make a sort of green until now, thanks for the info!
@@Lolwutburger_LWB cool, thanks for the info on Scott’s process… That makes way more sense than them being used for backgrounds! And I checked out that video you mentioned. Love seeing the process.
@@children_of_the_craft No problem, I recommend looking up the blog "Pumml". There's a lot of posts about Scott Wills and his work and process on there complete with some high quality images.
Have an amazing time in Japan!! I would love to visit one day. Looking forward to your travel art videos. I didn't know you were taking requests! Would you consider doing a video for one of the scenes from Pocahontas or Bambi?!
@@Fallingxleaves thanks! It’s definitely a place that needs to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. And I would love to do a piece from Bambi! There is a background artist, can’t remember her name right now, who worked on Bambi who I’d like to try replicating. I’m on it! Thanks for the comment and request 😊🎌
YAAAAASSSSS!!!! Wow, I'm stunned that the original work was so tiny. I'm in awe of how much can be crammed into such a tiny space. I don't know why, but it took me a ridiculously long time to realize that because watercolor is TRANSPARENT, the white of the paper lightens the colors; but because gouache is OPAQUE you have to actually use white to lighten things. I'm so jealous you are going to Japan, but looking forward to your art from it! Hmm, if you're in Japan, might you be checking out any, I don't know....Studio Ghibli?????
@@ritawilbur6128 okay, first, I agree - the size of his work amazes me too! I tend to work really small so I can appreciate how much you can cram into a small space. Second, took me a while to realize that too! I actually brought only watercolour with me on this trip along with some white gouache… cause you can add it to watercolour to make it more opaque! So stoked to try that out. And, we will not be going to the Ghibli Museum or theme park 😭😭😭 it’s a whole thing… I will definitely check them out on my next trip.
