Today it's time to repot my sick Nelly Isler orchids that I purchased at a discount from IKEA. It was high time to do this, since the snail menace was upon them!
▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼
These sick orchids were purchased a few weeks ago and I decided to let them establish a bit fist in my environment before shocking them with a repot. Here is my initial video on them • We need a miracle - Di...
As it turns out I needed to take action sooner rather than later, as a hoard of snails attacked the very first new root this orchid produced the moment it appeared. Hydrogen peroxide 3% is always my best friend in the battle with bush snails :)
I also checked for fusarium wilt since I had a few tiny seedling bulbs available that were ok to remove and the good news is, there is no sign of the pathogen :) Here are some better pictures of affected orchids staugorchidsoci...

Nice video! Those 3 Nelly's in the same pot once they start to grow and flourish will be “quite the show" as they say :-) Hooray for longer days of sunshine ahead.

Snails in the potting medium, Girl, can you ever catch a break! Those Nellies are lucky you brought them home and know how to deal with snails. Very helpful tips on distinguishing Fusarium from healthy rhizomes. Enjoy the sun, it's a brilliant day here in Texas! 🌞

Danny! If you can trigger them to all rebloom at the same time and each plant produces 2 spikes, that would look and smell awesome!!!

I love Nelly Isler. I have the orange version, Nelly Isler "Boon". Those seedling plugs can be so awful, especially if they are made of a substance that holds on to a lot of water. I lost a phal to root rot & thought it was my fault, despite doing my best to keep the roots aerated & allowing the media to dry between watering. When I did the "autopsy" I found a big plug in the center on the roots soaking wet & that was the centre of the rot.

+TheRainQueen Hi, I didn't know the orange variety had this name, so funny cos I just started to rewatch Lost and my latest video has a reference about it :)) Boon is a character in the show lol. Yes I know what you mean with that plug, most new orchids in stores have it though Phals not as often as intergenerics :)

What is it with that ball of spag moss that so many growers leave in the plant from raising it as a seedling? It just rots and stays wet even if the rest of the medium is dry. Why don't they remove it when reporting? Is it just because it's quicker not to? Am I being too harsh?

Hello! Can you advise me, please? I purchased a Nelly Isler from Ikea. Done some holes to the pot for drainage and root aeration. I also placed the pot in filtered light on a windowsill in the kitchen (is a bit colder there during the night) and put it on a saucer filled with small stones and seashells that came in handy, on top of which I poured some water to help with the moisture in the air. It's neighbours are all phalaenopsis repotted in Seramis, perlite and sphagnum moss. What do you think? Is it ok? Or does the Nelly Isler require repotting as well in a similar substrate in a similar pot like the phalaenopsis? Thank you!

I'm looking for the large green container you're using as a work surface to repot the flowers, can someone tell me the name?

I am new to orchids care. What's the best medium for Nelly Islers? I have to repot my 2 year old Islers which was a gift to me. I saw you use the hydroponics and the regular potting mix to repot the Nelly Islers. Thank you.

Hi, any medium that is airy and moist at the same time in your environment. The best is sphagnum moss for me, but for you it might not be. Think of your environment :)
