We are losing faith that things can get better. Sometimes it seems as though the 21st century is already decided. The war between the Israeli Defense Forces and Hamas, which heavily involves civilians, appears to prove the impossibility of negotiations between different cultures.
We invite you to a brief prayer meeting with representatives of the three Abrahamic religions. Prayers for peace in the Middle East will be led by Imam Ibrahim Mogra from the UK, Rabbi Charles Feinberg from the USA, and Father Jacek Siepsiak, a Jesuit.
We want to emphasize that peace is not possible without the involvement of religious communities. Peace in the Middle East is important for Poland. The war in the Middle East affects the credibility of the West. The inability to take European declarations of values seriously threatens the future of human rights ideals.
The issue of the Middle Eastern conflict is difficult for our country due to the historical significance of Polish-Jewish relations as well as Poland's involvement in the Iraq war.
Our guests participated in an interfaith delegation to Ukraine, where they prayed for a just peace with Ukrainian spiritual leaders.
Now, we will pray for the de-escalation of the situation between Israel and Palestine.
