The Deputy in this video, Duane Fuquay, was my uncle. He was an awesome man with no children of his own and this case really shook him up. Unfortunately, he had unrelated problems to this and took his own life in '94. I miss him terribly. R.I.P. Duane.....

What parent would have their child babysit at a residence she doesn't know? Always get their name, address and phone number. Very smart and brave girl to call 911. Never open or answer the door to anyone you don't know. I love this show.

It's amazing that an emergency call trace took 8-minutes in those days. In some places, it takes still up to 20 minutes, but in cities and small suburbs now, call trace is immediate as soon as the call comes through to the operator/dispatch over 911.

For those of you saying that girl is freaking out for no reason: WTF is wrong with y'all?! First, there is some creepy weirdo staring through the window at her. Second, some other weirdo starts pounding on the back door. They don't even ask for anything or anyone. They just keep pounding like a maniac. This would alarm an adult! so I could imagine how frightening it would be for a 10 year old. And if she closed the curtains when she saw him then he might have broke into the house and who knows what could've happened to that child. This scenario did not seem innocent to me. The person never said anything so it was natural for her to be alarmed. I remember a few weeks ago, someone was knocking at my door. I have one of those door knockers and a peephole and they were knocking excessively like they were playing with it. And then they started turning the knob and I was like "WTF". I was watching one of my favorite shows so I took my sweet ol' time walking to the door. By the time I got to the door, they were gone. I looked out the peephole and saw some kids walking up the hallway so I just assumed it was one of them. But you never know what someone's else intentions are. So you have to be very careful of who you open the door for. If I don't recognize them(I know everyone in my building) then I just don't open the door. I just talk to them through the door, and that's if I feel like being bothered.

You know so many people say they would make sure their babysitter would have the proper information. However, in smaller communities, people never think something like this can happen. I know. I live in one and people laugh at me and call me paranoid for even suggesting to lock the door at night. Sadly, events like this need to happen in order to give people a wake up call. It can happen to anyone anywhere anytime.

I highly doubt. 1.) The guy in the car was said to be specifically staring at the child, and even moved the car so he could keep on watching when she tried to hide from him. 2.) The guy at the door kept on beating the door long after she told him to go away because he's scaring her. And apparently didn't answer to who he is and didn't ask for anyone. To me this doesn't appear like an innocent case at all. I think these were clearly some type of predators, for treating a child that way.

Both sets of parents are completely clueless. Because of that, a ten year old and a two-year-old were put in danger. When I was a babysitter I always knew the address of where I was at as well as phone numbers in case of an emergency. I never babysat without supervision until I was 12 years old.

Why wasn't the phone number and address left for her? She's 10! I wasn't even allowed to be home by myself until I was 12! If you or your parents don't know the address of the people you're babysitting for, you really shouldn't let your 10-year-old babysit a child she hardly knows!

Usually, negativity isn't needed on these kinds of videos but I"m gonna go ahead and agree with you 100% on this one. Its crucial to know the information. Especially, being a young child. Thankfully, this 10 year old kept her wits about her and did what she was supposed to. You are so right tho. Every babysitter should know all of that information regardless. But I will say I think the ten year old knew the child well. If you listen it says she's babysat him numerous times and have never had a problem.

Count your blessings and be grateful for what you have. Kelly could have easily been taken from them and never to be seen again. I'm sure they learned their lessons about having the address and phone number to where she was at. So stunned to hear deputy Fuquay had taken his own life and so soon after this aired. Cops see death and tragedy quite frequently and I'm sure a lot have PTSD. I don't know how they deal with it all the time. This area must have been incredibly short handed with the nearest deputy being that far away.

Keep in mind most of these shows are re-enactments and not actual footage. I'd be careful not to over analyze what was seen (less so about what they said happened). Who's to say the window the prowler was peering into looked exactly like this? I kind of wonder what kids now a days do who are 6-10 years old and have no cell phone and a house with no land line. Seems like there's a ton of episodes where kids in this age bracket are saving the day by calling 911.
