Doris was found abandoned in a field and rescued by a very kind woman, who then contacted @HowlOfADog to take the dog into our care. We don’t know what life she had before getting rescued, but being dumped at her age, and in the heartbreaking condition she was, and left to starve in that field in cold winter, after most likely having been used for breeding (she’s got the typical sign of years of over-breeding: sagging folds of skin on some mammary glands), it’s very probable that she had never been cared for and loved the way she should have been. After all she's been through, it simply wouldn't be fair for her to never know what it's like to have a loving family and to be loved. She was estimated to be around 8 years old, so she still has many years ahead to enjoy a happy life. We are aware that adopting a senior dog is a more difficult decision. But she is an absolutely wonderful dog and has so much love to give! She's very affectionate, have you seen in her rescue video how cute she is asking for more scratches? She is very gentle and well behaved, and she's very good with people. But she can be wary of some dogs and would be most happy being the only dog in the home. We are looking for a quiet, adult only home where she can enjoy the rest of her retirement. She needs a family experienced in dealing with senior dogs and the challenges that come with age. We will offer our full support to the adoptive family so that Doris can receive the best medical care.
