Not saying the captain isn't at fault but the crew are full-time sailors. They would have felt the unusual movement before the passengers and know the ship inside and out so they would have better odds of finding their way out. Especially as we know it was pitch dark and happened in minutes. So I'm not sure if anyone woke the crew or if they just had better odds. The keel being retracted is interesting especially as it was bad weather but from sister ships, I believe they normally keep it retracted at anchor as when extended the mechanism can bang side to side.

An experienced captain like him would know to alert his passenger with such forecast weather & in-play storms. I believe the investigation will find the skipper 100% culpable involuntary manslaughter at the very least.
