#homesteading #ediblelandscaping #fruittrees We dug up these trees spring 2020 , though the space is not ideal and the weather has been not ideal, we’ve managed to see fruit come from this tree
A loquat is a pretty tree, and doesn't get huge even if you don't prune it. I have a couple 30 years old that I've done nothig to. I don't even rake the leaves under them. They're pretty year around, and provide a lot of fruit, early in their life, and early in the season when nothing else is ready.
@@GrowFamilyNetwork some years, I feel like the squirrels get more of the fruit than we do (they take one bite, then bury the rest). lol. ive read the leaves make a good tea and helps regulate blood sugar...but I've never tried making tea from the leaves, myself.
Those looks delicious 😋 I'm still yet to get me a loquat tree one day and those blackberries are beautiful 😍 they will make a yummy blackberry stew 😋 thank y'all for sharing and God bless 🙏❤️
not sure how well it will do with two next to each other like that. our mature one, the trunk is about as thick as two thighs. we love our loquats in Florida =)
Greetings fam, great share as always! Great find for great stewards 🎉 I have had one for 2 years at least and just got a second loquat last season. No fruit so far leaves year round in 8A GA 👩🏾🌾My family found wild blackberries in our neighborhood and pick them when we can. Yum 😋
I love my wild food. I leave my brambles on my fence because I love blackberries. I have wild strawberries, but i really don't like the flavor of them ( or lack there of). I have turkey tail mushrooms growing on my firewood. I have a couple mulberry trees that are in full fruit.
Hello you all, I recently got a peach tree and now by the looks of your loquat tree I think would be a good addition to my garden. You and Bhev look good. Thanks for sharing. ❤❤
Being able to add trees feel amazing, just ensure that it’s right for your climate and you actually like them. Good thing about loquats is they do well from seed, which is a little cheaper than buying certain trees, that is unless you like certain varieties
Mine fruited for the first time this year also. In fact so did my pomegranates - full of blooms for the first time ever. I don’t have anything to back this up, but it seems almost that the stress of last year’s drought may have jolted a them into higher production? Figs are loaded, satsumas and lemons also. 🤷🏼♀️ Squirrels did go after the loquats, also woodpeckers! I had a couple of zippered laundry net bags that fit perfectly over the individual clusters of fruit that worked well to protect them.
Generally. I like your short synopses on your gardening progress/progress. Do you vermicompost & compost with biochar. Thanks for posting gr8 content. In the Philippines those loquats would have ants all over them. The advantage these trees have are priceless.
My loquat tree that stays small, seems to cling to life...has the best fruit and biggest. the other one is beautiful has a lot of fruit they taste ok. But just like a peacock....
I have to say this. An empty lot? Someone owns that lot, therefore they own what’s growing on it too. The only way it’s ok to take that tree is if you asked the owner.
We have many lots here that are not legally owned by anyone as you know in this country you never own anything the government owns all. Many vacant lots in my area when taxes go unpaid the ownership is vacated by the township and given away to anyone that wishes to pay for it or pay the taxes. So in general some vacant lots are partially owned by citizens but not all..(for example the old owner may be dead with no heirs) in turn the city takes it and sells it
