Important info: I had been taking nicotinamide since February 2022. When the results of this trial were published, I upped the dosage to 3g from 500mg, taking 3 am/3 pm although the times differed. whilst i noticed significant improvement in my vision it caused a big problem..... Continuing to take them, after 14-16 days I noticed I was struggling to pee. Then, I couldn’t pee at all- went to hospital and had to have a catheter fitted!!!! The doctors did not know what caused it, blood test was fine and no sign of a urine infection. They also couldn’t find any evidence it was related to nicotinamide!!!! So 2 months later, i started taking nicotinamide again. however i was more conscious on the timing, taking 2 am 2m lunchtime and 2 in the evening. Again, after 14-17 days, i struggled to pass urine without going into full retention- this continued for a full month. all tests have came back fine. i can only add that a 3g intake of nicotinamide caused a psychological problem where i felt the URGENT need to pass urine even though my bladder was virtually empty. I ended up causing trauma to my bladder where i have to pass urine several times a night- but at least im not straining to go now. my advice is don’t copy the trial until more information is released! I hope cera and dr hui can use this information and be alert for patients in their care! Bottom line- leave it to the experts!

what about exfoliative glaucoma? high homocysteine is found in eye regions and high dose b3 increases blood homocysteine. Has the study included those with this form of glaucoma? Maybe the low B3 in blood of glaucoma patients is a reflection of low B6 as it is needed for the conversion to b3 of tryptophan. B6 has homocysteine lowering property and used with b3 is safer maybe? is the study including other Bs with B3?

Hi, this may be interesting to you.. Before a beginning glaucoma was detected, I did blood and DNA tests. As I am over 60, I have a yearly blood check, quite broad. My homocysteine is on the upper allowed limit and in my DNA there's a faulty MTTR gene (connected to the MTFHR). This results in poor methylation. In the past I learned that applied kinesiology can be a very fast, holistic way to find and treat issues in body and mind and in my country there's a very good, wise woman where I go to. She found that I have a methylation problem and prescribed me vitamin B2 (riboflavin). I looked it up in medical literature and indeed, B2 may help methylation. She tested me yesterday and told me also here a methylation issue is at play and I need to take 2 pills l-cysteine (bonusan) at least 30 minutes before a meal at for the next two months. This dose may not be combined with other supplements at the same time. I looked is up in medical literature, and indeed, homocysteine and l-cysteine are mentioned in relation to glaucoma. She also gave me some mental advice. Besides the l-cysteine, I already took NAC after getting out of bed and I should continue that.

@@rredding Thank you. I think my case of POAG is low estrogen causation. It gets tricky because methylation removes estrogen.

@@rosem5060 hello, I am very sorry for you, this must have been a shocking experience! I live in the Netherlands and that is where she lives and works also. I know her for some 40 years. Touch for Health (TFH) or applied kinesiology is an alternative testing and healing method and I expect that she is one of the best TFH practitioners these days. I assume that you are not familiar with the TFH method and I will give you an example how I helped me. I have been high in triglycerides and low in HDL for tens of years. I can test my own lipid panel at home (Acon, Mission cholesterol testing 3:1) and I do this occasionally. I only realized recently that I should tell her about my values and when I did, she tested me and prescribed some supplements (chromium, vitamin E complex, beta 1,3 1,6 glucane, vit B2). Within a week after starting using these, my values improved greatly. I trust her capabilities and always follow her advice. Now my glaucoma is in the very early stage where I experience some very minimal blurring in the periphery of my left eye. Eye pressure is in the 19-20 range. During a test in the University hospital a beginning glaucoma was diagnosed. I did not get any advice and was told to return after 1 year. I do not like this approach and want to do what I can to improve my situation. My TFH therapist tested me and prescribed me with NAC and l-cysteine. In the past I lived very unhealthy. I already changed my diet a few years ago at 60 y/o to low carb, very low sugar, no vegetable oils, no margarine (I use real butter, virgin olive oil), no packaged food products, high omega 3 (fatty fish, fish oil capsules with EPA, DHA), no bread, no fried products and no artificial sweeteners, no sweet fruits, but a lot of black berries, blue berries, rasp berries, straw berries and lemons. Supplements: vitamins C, D3, K2, minerals Zinc/Copper, Iodine, Selenium, Boron. I do not know where you live or what to advise you. Probably you should contact a Touch for Health organization in your country (touchforhealth.us/) if you are interested. I hope you'll find good support! 🙏🏻💚

This gives us hope but 3g each day seems a very high dose - is this safe for long term use? Plus my BMI is only 19 and I weigh just 57 kg so would I need less Niacinamide?
@GlaucomaAustralia
@GlaucomaAustralia 11 месяцев назад
Hi @lightliz7834, Participants in the study consume a higher dose (3grams) of vitamin B3 under strict clinical supervision. We would strongly recommend for you to stay with the recommended dose as instructed on the bottle/packaging for the product. To start a higher dose, you would need the okay to do so by a qualified doctor. This can be your GP or your eye specialist. Consuming a high dose of vitamins and supplement can have unwanted side effects. If in doubt, we would advise for you to consult your GP or pharmacist to discuss your suitability to vitamin B3. Thanks, GA Orthoptist.
