Resetting the HVAC System on First Generation Freightliner Cascadias 

Actually that doesn’t matter, yes the truck needs to have the key in the on position but you can actually do this with the truck running. And full disclosure, it will also do it while you are driving down the road. So as long as the key is on whether the truck is running or not it will work. We have done it on trucks parked running, parked off, and rolling down the road.

@@skylerdroubay8209 it most definitely does not work with the truck running in the p3 or p4 Cascadia. Basically and multiplexed Cascadia this only works with koeo position.

@@stevenliberadzki9160 Correct, if you have the newer HVAC system then this is not an option. If your HVAC controls look like they do in this video then you are able to use this method

I believe just the key needs to be in the on position. I have been able to do this with the engine off and on. But key has to be in the "on" position. I have heard from some people that they think the engine has to be off or it has to be on. I don't know if that is just their truck or whatever it might be. So it try it both ways until it works

2014 my engine had to be off w/key on. Would not do it with the engine running.

@@golf4fame Well there you go! Yeah it is very weird, we have noticed some will do it with the key in any position but others will not.

I do not know. This is just an issue we ran into regularly with the Cascadia. We don't run T880 trucks in our fleet.

As long as your HVAC controls look just like these then it will work. The newer system it does not have the reset built into it. At least all of my testing with it seems to have not done anything on the newest HVAC system

@@DDTruckDriver yes the 2021 p4 has it does work. The direction switch it the only difference because it does not have a stop. It can continuously go in circles. Just have to be at the face position.can still go through the retrain blend door process via the head head unit same way as like I said before All p3 and p4 cascadias. All years freightliner have multiplexed systems. I had to go to yet another Freightliner class last week even for the 2021 P4 cascadia. That specific feature was explained there along with many more for the autonomous driving features they've incorporated.

Which year and model of truck? Also, in some of the comments you will notice that strangely enough different key positions have worked for different people, no idea why that is but we have experienced it as well.

Well this is just for the freightliner HVAC, APUs are all so different. So for your specific APU I wouldn't know what it needs sorry.

Never run into a problem with just back there, but it should be tied to the front system if this is the problem.

Correct, that’s why it is even labeled in the title for a first gen. The current cascadia is called the NextGen and there is no reset process for it.
