Considering a move to Ukraine, even with all the conditions, is a very appealing idea. The opportunity to help rebuild Ukraine and it's economy, whilst living amongst such strong, resilient people would be an amazing experience. I'd never meet the criteria or have the ability sadly, as I'm medically retired. I'll keep supporting from Australia though! 🇦🇺 🇺🇦

Knowing history of the country is important thing, as we see based on the situation we have today. Ukrainians are all learning history at school and even the most stupid know some key stages of the history. While many foreigners may have really no idea is Ukraine created just in 1991, in soviet union or it has history of more than 1000 year...

As a retired, senior citizen couple, we would not be able to become citizen as we are not able to learn to speak Ukrainian language. We can pass any test written in English. But not Ukrainian. Too bad because we are the kind of people Ukraine would want. Educated. Lawful. Financially secure. And most would consider us polite and good to have in the neighborhood. Nice Video anyway Olga.

@@peterfireflylund the pensions are covered by the old country most often . If old country is a poor country , then generosity may be bestowed as was the case for elderly Greeks in Australia decades back , I don't know today's situation though . Anyway there are folk who don't receive/require pension due to their wealth . Then reciprocity may be the standard in other cases where two countries have an arrangement based on pretty much equal exchange of emigrants between both countries , and here perhaps Canada and Australia would be great example . There used to be reciprocity between new Zealand and Australia but New Zealand with the smaller population got the better deal from it , maybe it continues still though .

It is similar in Canada but the language is tested first when applying for permanent residency where a candidate must obtain at least a minimum score on a standardized English or French exam. After 3 years of residency one can apply for citizenship. The Ministry of Immigration and Citizenship then sends the candidate a study guide with everything they need to know to pass the citizenship test. There is history, geography, economy, political system etc. on the curriculum. On the day of the test there is also a short interview to assess if the candidate speaks and understands either English or French well enough. Permanent Residents can take free language lessons as well so there is no excuse not to speak the language.

Anyone who wishes to come and get settle in Ukraine, he must at least be familiar with the language and law of the country. Thanks for the update! Hopefully next year there will be a follow-up interview with multi-talented Ulyana from Minsk, discussing Visa issues and making comparisons - and by the way how the Lukashist and his Kremlin sponsor were both defeated. I loved the country and the people and I want to go back to help for as long as needed once I finished my medical training. I'd prefer to work at or near the front, since I do have experience caring for combat casualties. Opening up too much for foreigners to apply for Ukrainian citizenship may be a problem when it comes to Ukrainian acceptance in EU. Especially if applicants come from non-Western countries. In a country such as Denmark, an open door into Ukraine, could possibly mean a closed door for Ukraine being admitted into EU. I think Germany had similar issues even back in 1990, when e.g. some Vietnamese and African people were solidarity workers in the GDR. How they were to be treated in a reunited Germany, caused some discussion, as far as I remember. So Ukraine should be careful on this issue, before they invite others in. Especially, if non-European, non-Western, non-Christian groups are let into Ukraine in large numbers.
@Olga_Reznikova
@Olga_Reznikova 2 года назад
Nothing changed for citizenship: you still need to live in country for the last 5 yesrs, have immigration permit (which also has conditions)... so it is not such easy in reality. But once you reach to it, you need to pass language , constitution and history. I guess same in Denmark
@aarhusnord
@aarhusnord 2 года назад
@@Olga_Reznikova Obviously, I don't know exactly how the Ukrainian rules are in details, but Denmark is said to have some of the strictest sets of immigration rules in the world. Ukraine is also labelled as a non-Western country, so the opening up to Ukrainian refugees due to the war (besides the non-Visa 90 days period) was only possible because of a special law. Guess, reason for our strict immigration having been a rightwing party such as Dansk Folkeparti, that had decisive influence on politics for more than two decades. Now they are in a serious decline (parliamentary election in just 4 days), but their position has been taken over by especially Danmarksdemokraterne and Ny Borgerlige. Another possible reason to our very strict rules, could also be, that Denmark kind of controls the right to visit and stay in Greenland (and the Faroe Islands). Besides being of huge strategic importance, Greenland is also home to indigenous people (inuits). Even though foreign people may have to stay in Ukraine for 5 years and pass a number of tests, it could be a problem if these people arrive in Ukraine with a non-Western background, another set of values and another religion than Christianiaty broadly said. If any of these people are let into Ukraine, and Ukraine becomes an EU member, this may influence other EU countries opinions on Ukraine. I guess, part of the reason behind U.K.'s Brexit was also the fact, that many Britons suddenly saw many people from Eastern and Central Europe coming to U.K. via EU. Within a relatively few years from 2004 and onwards, e.g. Poles, Lithuanians, Romanians and others came to the U.K. to live and work, and that was seen as a threat by many native Britons. So immigration is a very sensible topic in some of the "older" EU memberstates. And one country having their doors "too open" to the "wrong people", may lead other countries to closing their doors or even wanting to leave the EU.

@@aarhusnord Ukraine is not only Christian. We have also Crimea tatars, which are muslims and Ukraine is their land. We have many Turkish in my native city and I don't see it was bothering anybody🤷🏼‍♀️ I know what you mean, and what is the problems exactly and I will tell you : problems of countries like Denmark, Germany and even UK with migration is related first of all to migrants which doesn't want to work at all and taking money of the government. I have been in Denmark and I see that policy of Denmark regarding social support is exactly the reason of what you have today. They force you to have social support in all possible ways. See my parents refused from day one and till now (it is already 7 months pass), they call them time from time and ask WHY they are not applying for social support. Government workers keep coming to house where we used to live, asking to apply for social support. With such approach, I am not wonder you end up with people who will never work🤷🏼‍♀️😂 And now stuck with this migrants.
@aarhusnord
@aarhusnord 2 года назад
@@Olga_Reznikova Olga, obviously the historical background makes up for a different situation in e.g. Denmark, U.K. and Germany and many Eastern and Central European countries, that were behind the Iron Curtain until 1989-90 or so. Danish immigration began back in the late sixties, where we invited people from e.g. Turkey and former Yugoslavia up here to work. In the beginning, they were called "guestworkers", and were only meant to stay here for a limited time. They took hard, dirty, unattractive jobs, that Danes could afford to deny. Many settled down, however, and now they have lived here for more generations, but not all have integrated well with an overrepresentation in criminal statistics and frequency of social problems. Many guestworkers lost jobs from 1973 (first oil crises) and onwards in the seventies, that were financially tough years in Denmark. Some settled in what we called "ghettoes" - Gellerup and Bispehaven are the most notorious ones in Aarhus, where I live and which you also know. They had and still have their very own set of challenges with crime, poverty and social issues, and billions have been spent to make them more attractive, to prevent problems, to change their population. For example, buildings have been torn down in Gellerup to change who live in that area. Refugees also came to Denmark, many from Islamic countries in the Middle East and Africa. At the same time, the Scandinavian welfare state still has a lot of benefits, so it has also been seen as a problem, that e.g. Polish and other Central and Eastern European citizens e.g. after 2004 have been entitled to benefits after having worked here for a short time. That they, for example, have been able to send money to families still living in their home countries, where the costs of living are much lower than in Denmark. At the same time, EU regulations prevent discrimination between native Danes and EU citizens. Generally speaking, when times are tough, a country such as Denmark tends to close its doors to very many other people, except those that are very, very, very much like us in values and culture (mainly the other Nordic countries and Germany). Even other EU citizens may be seen with some suspicion - are Poles here to claim welfare benefits? Are Romanians here to steal our cars? Are young people from Spain and Italy here, because there are no jobs for them at home? Sweden is another Scandinavian country, that has been very open until right now, and has even seen neighbouring Denmark as "semi-racist" and xenophopic - but in the recent election, the rightwing "Sverigesdemokraterne" came inside the circles of power. So Sweden is changing, too. Germany, for example, has there own story behind immigration - for example, many Turks, went to West Berlin pre-1989, as it was not so attractive to many West Germans to stay in a city, that was essentially a small "island"/enclave inside the GDR. So people were kind of "imported" to uphold Western Berlin inside the East Block. But the fact, that you tell me about some Ukrainians being of non-Christian background/Turkish background, makes me more concerned about Ukraine's possible future in the EU from a Danish point of view. Possibly, it could also be problematic, that Ukraine is a relatively poor country (and the war and terrible destructions won't make Ukraine more well-functioning or richer in the first place). At the moment, there is a lot of goodwill and sympathy flowing towards Ukraine, but for certain a mixed religious, ethnic backgrounds, et cetera, will be used by some right-wing, xenophopic, EU-sceptical parties here to have second thoughts about integrating Ukraine into the EU. In Denmark, discussions have even been taken to very symbolical and in some cases, ridiculous levels, for example the demand to accept handshakes at a handshake ceremony (if you want to obtain citizenship, reason behind being that some moslems won't shake hands with women) or a demand, that pork meat should be served in e.g. kindergartens (to make it less attractive for moslems to settle here). Or look at the so-called "Smykkelov" ("jewellery law"), that was intended to prevent refugees from coming up here with their own valuables. They would simply be confiscated at the border, if those refugees came here, demanded asylum and were "too rich". To the Danish society, becoming dependant on the welfare system is almost like a goal in itself. But also something you are criticized for as a foreigner.

Unbelievable! U are still promoting India to reapply in Ukraine. When India is openly with Russia. Is Ukraine still going to export to China after accepting so much funds from USA. Then American people should be asked why are they paying the price to cut ties with China and than Ukraine does businesses with them. What a waste if taxpayers money

Crazy Idea: I follow a couple of younger Russians (particularly NFKRZ) who have left Russia as part of this conflict. They are more-or-less stateless as their passport is not worth anything and they cannot return home as they have been outspoken against the war. Perhaps, just perhaps, the Zelenskyy government should grant some form of open asylum to Russians that wish to leave Russia. Could create a massive brain-drain of the best and brightest young Russians and boost the Ukrainian economy. Just a thought. What do you think?

What is the difference between those Russians and Syrians, for example, who are running from own government? Does anybody welcome them? So Syrians at least was protesting against their government, while Russians still support it🤯 Why we need to welcome Russians in Ukraine?

@@Olga_Reznikova only those Russians that would be able to claim political asylum in Ukraine for speaking out about their government, perhaps, or you could include those that have field to foreign lands in protest (Georgia/Uzbekistan etc...). That Russians are more culturally similar to Ukrainians than other cultures would help integration. It would also negate any arguments that Putin could advance about the Ukrainian Government being Nazis and anti-russian. Sometimes the only way to fight hate is with love.... Like I say, it's a pretty crazy idea. P.s. it would be interesting to get your reaction to an NFKRZ video. Perhaps this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vEtL9DvOPkU.html

@@iamaparanoidandroid1 you still believe Russians are similar to Ukrainians?🤦🏼‍♀️ Don't forget, those bloggers speak anti-Putin, because it is good content and can help them to make money. Nothing personal with Ukraine. They are not Ukrainian patriots and will never be.

@@Olga_Reznikova I think that, broadly, people are people wherever you go. Specifically I do still think that the cultures of two predominantly Slavic countries with shared recent history under the USSR and linguistic crossover are *more* similar than the cultures of a Slavic country and a predominantly Muslim Arabic country like Syria (the other country you cite). Just as you have found it easier to assimilate integrate in the UK as an English speaking European, than you might have done in, say, SE Asia. To say that no Russian can ever become fully 'Ukrainian' is a slight on all of those ethnically Russian, Russian speaking, Ukrainian citizens in the occupied and formerly occupied areas that Ukraine is fighting for. If your view is that no one who is ethnically Russian, but politically Ukrainian/Western can be 'Truly Ukrainian', then you are effectively siding with Russia's narrative in this war: that the Crimea and Donets regions should be part of Russia as they are primarily ethnically and linguistically Russian. With respect to NFKRZ - I have followed him for many years and he has always been as anti-putin as he can be (as a young adult living within the authoritarian country he is criticizing). As I say, it's an out-there idea, but some of the best ones are.
