Is Costa Rica Right For You? 7 Day Event'
ALL INFO/DATES and SIGN UP for the Retreat HERE- www.lasarahele...
If you have any questions, write me at info@travelcostaricanow.com and I will help you.
The Relocation Retreat will be held in La Fortuna (my town), the top tourist destination in Costa Rica and home of the Arenal Volcano, at the only 'ALL INCLUSIVE Hotel' in Fortuna, Montaña de Fuego. And we are super EXCITED to have them host our relocation event.
Thinking about living in Costa Rica and obtaining your residency, you're going to want to watch this discussion from our Immigration Expert, Glenn and I.
Want to talk w/Glenn- info@travelcostaricanow.com
First, my 2 promises to YOU. 1) There will be no, 'blowing smoke' about the good, the bad and the ugly about moving and living in Costa Rica... and especially by me ;) 2) By the end of the 'Relocation Retreat', you will absolutely, 100% know if Costa Rica is right for you.
Moving to Costa Rica? Want to live in Costa Rica? Well, if you are going to live in Costa Rica, eventually the topic of residency will arise. At some point you will have to make a decision. Do I stay a perpetual tourist, which just means leaving Costa Rica every 3 months to get your passport stamped returning usually the same day, or do I apply for my residency? In this video, Glenn and I (michael alan from Travel Costa Rica NOW) UPDATE our last video but still hit on some of the basics of obtaining residency in Costa Rica. The main types of residency- pensionado, rentista, investor etc. We also discuss the tax incentives and what's going on with them, citizenship and much more in this video, 'Residency in Costa Rica - Immigration Experts May 2023 UPDATE '.
About Glenn-
Glenn has lived in Costa Rica for 22 years. Why did he choose Costa Rica to live his life? What changes has he seen in the last 22 years as far as Costa Rica is concerned? What does he do in Costa Rica? Is Glenn retired? How did he happen to start helping folks with the residency process? What advantages does he see about living in Costa Rica? Disadvantages? Will he ever leave Costa Rica or will he retire here? This is just a short expat interview on getting to know Glenn a little better so you can feel comfortable about him helping you through the residency process. Glenn has been here a long time and he's seen a lot of changes. Here's the Expat Interview Travel Costa Rica NOW did with Glenn- • Living in Costa Rica E...
Most Popular Residency Categories-
*Pensionado- (basically using your social security check as a guarantee of monies arriving every month).
*Rentista- a guarantee of $2500 coming in every month.
*Investor category- Investing $150,000 into Costa Rica, usually in the form of real estate.
Don't fret, there's more ways to get your residency in Costa Rica. For example: there's also a 'small business' category. Obviously contact an immigration lawyer to make sure you get the truth about obtaining residency.

The 21:00 mark is pure gold. That is exactly what I think, too, Mike. I uploaded a rant about that same thing not too long ago, like, "if all you're planning to do is import your whole way of life and expect to create your own North America or Europe in Costa Rica, why are you even coming here?" Michel and I came here to simplify and simplify we did. The result is pure paradise that we can afford. Our electric bill last month was the equivalent of $15 USD. I have a semi-automatic washing machine that is basically a plastic tub with an agitator and it's the best washing machine I've ever owned. If it breaks, I can fix it myself with nothing more than a screwdriver. Things like that. The lack of stress is a game changer for us. Having a bad morning? Just go to the river. Float around for a while. Things will look a whole lot better on the walk back to the house. By the way, we live so close to the border that we can see Lake Nicaragua from our road. Talk about easy border runs! Nicaragua has truly gone next level with the entry/exit thing they're doing. I hope it continues.

pensionado in CR just means guaranteed monthly income, i.e. pension, such as social security, annuities, retirement funds, military pensions or other guaranteed retirement benefits. I have two pensions, the one we think of from my employer and a monthly deposit from my invested retirement funds.

WOW - things have really CHANGED since we lived in CR back in the early 2000's ! Back then, there was NO health insurance requirement (CR probably copied from "ObamaCare"), 2 retirees could live comfortably on $1,000/month pension if you owned your house, and crime was negligent outside of San Jose. We returned to visit family in 2022, and homes were equal or higher than US prices, the cost of living had jumped considerably, and CRIME had spread everywhere. Still "Pura Vida" - but not as much anymore !

Thanks much for the update. In Another video, it will be great to know how monthly CAjA payments are calculated under the Investor category. The video addressed that you will have to pay income tax on your earnings from your investment; however, there was no discussion on how CAjA payment will be determined. Would appreciate some clarity on this.

Hey Michael, thanks for sharing. We are currently visiting at our place in Bejuco preparing to retire here within the next year. I spoke with Pablo and worked with one of his people on getting a price to ship my truck as a resident or paying full price. We also met with Sara at her job site in Playa Hermosa, just to say hello and to see how things are progressing, she is a very nice person. Next trip, in about 2 to 3 months we are planning on visiting La Fortuna so we will be contacting you to see if we can get together for lunch or dinner, on us, if you are available.

I am married to a tica AND I have a nice pension over $2k, what is the best and cheapest way to get residency for me? I just got here a little over a week ago so I'm kinda ignorant about this.
@JayRedden28
@JayRedden28 Год назад
Marriage category, but you wont qualify for the import tax incentive. Im married to a Tico, so what Im thinking of doing is applying pensionado residency to get the tax incentives, and then asap getting Costa Rican citizenship. If married to a Costa Rican, you only need 2 years of accumulative stays in Costa Rica after the date of marriage including tourist stays or residency to apply for citizenship.
@ronaldhandyjr6602
@ronaldhandyjr6602 Год назад
@@JayRedden28 I have nothing to import, I sold or got rid of everything I did not want to bring... so that is not a issue for me. So which is fastest, easier and/or less expensive for me... @@ronaldhandyjr6602 If you apply for residency, you do not need to do the border runs, but you will no have driving privileges until you are approved for residency or do the 90 day visa runs. If you dont plan on driving, its not an issue. You should consider getting a lawyer in CR. Although you really dont absolutely need a lawyer. I'd get a Spanish speaking lawyer in the Central Valley.

@TravelCostaRicaNOW
@TravelCostaRicaNOW Год назад
If you show $3000. for pension, you are in trouble as far as how much you would have to pay into the CAJA. You want to show the lowest amount possible to $1000. which would be by far the best scenario.
