Bob and Ziggy have lived in Costa Rica for 2 1/2 years now and trust me, they do live in their own little paradise. A beautiful piece of property complete with a 'extreme jungle trek', which we did awhile back (see video link below). They retired early from the United States and set up shop about 30 minutes from La Fortuna but they didn't really retire because they are utilizing their property for others to enjoy- pool, jungle trek, tons of birds, animals, hiking trails, bicycles for touring the Chachagua area. Unfortunately, they were just getting rolling when the pandemic started. So here michael alan (Travel Costa Rica NOW) sits down with Bob and Ziggy to discuss their story on how they ended up in Costa Rica doing what they're doing. What do they like about Costa Rica? What don't they like? Do they plan to stay in Costa Rica? What advice would they give others who are thinking about living and/or retiring in Costa Rica?

Things to do in La Fortuna Costa Rica. Want a more demanding hike than just walking around on some generic hiking trails? A fun trek thru the jungle? Maybe you'd like to see some toucans, sloths, frogs and a million other kinds of birds. Take a dip in the pool when you're done. Eat, drink and chill. Travel Costa Rica NOW has the place for you. Our friends Bob & Ziggy have 17 acres of NATURE, complete with flora and fauna in Chachagua about 20 minutes outside of La Fortuna... and they've opened it up to the public. This is a great option if you're in La Fortuna and you want something a little more extreme but also want to see the animals and birds. OH and they have easier hikes as well. A great place to spend a few hours and make sure to bring your cameras.
Living life in La Fortuna Costa Rica is great. Why? Because there's so many things to do. And some are free, like the local waterhole, El Salto. Both locals and tourists enjoy an afternoon at Salto. You can hike, swim, explore, swing off a rope, chill, drink beers, smoke a bit... Salto is just a great place to hang out on a hot day. And it's only about a mile out of La Fortuna central, so within walking distance. *it's a 20 minute walk from my house, how cool is that. Salto is FREE which is nice for the budget traveler. But if you got a few bucks for tours, La Fortuna, also can provide a lot of adventure- ziplines through the jungle and over waterfall, ATV tours, biking, hiking, waterfall rappelling, rafting, night hikes and sooooooo much more. Again, an afternoon exploring, swimming, chilling, drinking, waterver at Salto is also a very nice way to spend the afternoon.
