I'm the only person I know who watches this show. It's so good and Chris Sheridan is a genius. He can make you howl with laughter just by the expression on his face.
The greatest subversion of expectations on the alien invasion genre! And IMHO, this is quite possibly the greatest and best thing Syfy has produced since they changed the channel name, since other great classics like Sanctuary, Warehouse 13 and Eureka all existed before the change from SciFi to Syfy
I binge watched the first two seasons on Netflix and ended up buying season 3 on Amazon. I can’t believe there’s only 8 episodes this season 😭 2 left to go.
I love this show. However...I'm gonna say it: I HATE Sahara, Darcy, and I'm not a fan of either Asta or Max. They piss me off constantly 😒 I was so happy when they got rid of Sahara. Then they fucking brought her back this past episode.
I found this gem the other day. It is laugh out loud funny, a little scary sometimes and quite touching. It has everything. It is a must watch program if you want a fun night. ♥️♥️🥰🥰
One of the best TV series EVER !!! There is a deep humor, from dark to pink humor, there is sci-fi, there is lot of nice and emotional feelings, action, adventure, a little of horror, so it is complete and terribily ilarious !!
This show regularly has me in stitches. Some of the jokes just slap. It's a bit goofy, but then also has some profoundly deep observations about humanity that are usually fairly blunt yet hilarious. Love it!
I could do without Sahara, max, and Darcy. Sometimes, I could honestly do without Asta. Jesus they piss me off. Especially Darcy and Sahara. The entitlement is UNBELIEVABLE. Seriously, I wish they'd tone it down 5 notches.
alan tudyk is amazing as this role. i liked it so much i looked him up and he is in tons of things and was even the voice of king candy, wreck it ralphs main villian.
I really enjoyed the series and the characters. The stand outs for me are obviously the amazing Alan Tudyk as the enduring Alien/Harry Vanderspeigle, Judah Prehn as adorable Max Hawthorne, and Gracelyn Awad Rinke as the precocious Sahar. They kill me! They are so dynamic and the timing is so good with them. The show and the story is engaging and the humour and gags and so insane. I only wish that Season 3 lives up to the earlier two and end with properly without dragging on unnecessary making it bad to watch. Love this show! ❤
Resident Alien astonishingly enjoyable. I only found out about it when it first came through my interest in Alan Tudyk work. He brings a perfectly performance of a Dark comedy charater who actually gets scenes to learn strong emotional lessons. I've seen complaints about how the Show treats its male characters making them seem qoute frankly ignoramus adults but Dan is a shining heart of wisdom to Asta and Sheriff Mike due to new developments has grown into a even more compelling character. Same goes to Harry and Elliot. Ben's a dork but he is developing to. Overall the show interms of how it treats its story is absolutely spectacular. Episode 3 of season 2 was ham-fisted though. I fucking hope they don't cancel the show after the third season and hope they go on as long as it needs to to reach the ultimate finale season that completely the whole story like how breaking bad did. I appreciate how they brought in Alice Wetterlund and Michael Cassidy for another Aliens Show. People of Earth was intriguing but sadly short lived I'm hoping they bring in the Reptillians, the Grey's and Castilihans perhaps a cameo or Harry dealing with other Aliens.
I like Sheriff Dan but he definitely is an idiot without his female deputy, she is the real brains he would get nothing done by himself. Harry is by definition an idiot being the alien. The last episode I saw Asta and Darcy joke about Harry's penis size when he went to use the toilet. Eliott can't even reverse a small truck Darcy's got him wrapped around her fingers? The show is watchable but the criticism is fair.
Odd that people said the males in the show were written as ignorant.. I can see that.. but, they must have not watched far enough to appreciate the whole basket. To be fair, vapid wokeness has been a trend with a lot of shows lately. Sheriff Mike's gotta be one of my favorite characters. He's ridiculous and child-like, yet upholds extremely strong morals, integrity, and sense of character. He had been living a serious life in a big city dealing with hardcore crime and goes through a major trauma, so.. perhaps that's a reason for the more immature actions. The women are far from saint's, with miles of regrets in their pasts and some ongoing internal struggles. But, yes the writers could lean on them less to be the responsible ones. And yet, all the men respond to calls of action... Maybe it's an astute psychology reference? Overall, all the characters are developing over time with their internal/external struggles, yet all of them are written in a way that allows them to be more than "I'm this and I always gotta do this because backstory". The show also has a lot of Native Americans and their culture, something that is often conveniently overlooked in the wave of woke. It's sprinkled with truths that are obvious yet not commonly understood. It's a great show, indeed. 👍
I dont think it was properly advertised. I happened to run across it on Netflix which only has 2 seasons then realized SYFY has all 3 seasons. Great show.
Resident alien is well written, well acted and overall an amazing series. One doesn’t have to be a sci-fi lover to watch it. Comedy, drama, laughs and tears. Give it a try.
Season 1 was enjoyable. Season 2 devolved into a Lifetime series. My biggest issue is the pacing. The tone pivots on a dime constantly. Funny, serious, dorky (like season 8 Three's Company dorky), weepy, happy....all in the span of 3 minutes, throughout the length of every episode.
The show feels stretched to me at some points, especially in S2. There’s so much that doesn’t have anything to do with the main plot. Ben’s resort controversy with his wife. Darcy getting hooked on painkillers. All of that seemed like filler to reach the episode’s season order.
My only issue with the show between seasons 1 and 2 is that Harry speaks a bit more.. normally as opposed to the semi-robotic blunt tone. But then again, Alan Tudyk is amazing haha
I hate all the anti male writing in the show. If the genders were switched and all the men were talking about how awful women are then everyone one would call out the sexist writing in the show for what it is.
I love the show Resident Alien, but this video is just annoying to try and watch, especially for someone who has seen the show, the way the narrator talks so fast and with even a breath, though it doesn't seem to actually be AI, it might as well be. Because if you hadn't already watched the show, you sure wouldn't be able to understand much of what it's about by listening to this, because of the way this person tells it, I mean it makes it not make a lot of sense! But what I could understand about the comic, I have to say I prefer the tv show to the comic really, it's a lot more entertaining really. As far as this video I had to just quit at 17:33 into it, because as I said, the way the narrator is telling it makes confusing and as I said make not a lot of sense really. I mean this video is over 40 minutes long and he is telling way too fast to be able to understand what he is saying. It's kinda reminds me of someone writing out the whole thing without any periods, just non stop talking with no end. Which is why it reminds me of an AI, but I am pretty sure it isn't, I still wonder if it is AI! Also I hate channels that ask for you to LIKE and Subscribe at the start of their videos, when I haven't even watched it yet, but I am already subscribed to the channel, though I don't remember why, since if the person talked this same same way with something else, I can't see why I would have subscribed to it. But I am sure not going to LIKE this video, because it's not a good video at all! I can't believe no one in the comments are even bringing up how terriorable this video is, they seem to just want to talking about the show Resident Alien and ignore how bad the video is!
Mild spoilers here -- It started great, absolutely riveting. The sleepy cottage reality, the alien bringing an infinite list of possible plot lines. Then it goes way way down hill. What you want from this story is, a very digestible, plausible community of characters and scenes, upon which, the alien brings irony, humor, mystery, whatever you want him to bring to the table. He's an Alien. He can do anything, so you have enormous plot license to work with. But the surrounding cast is just bad, unrealistic, and mostly not funny. Tudyk was so good as the alien, the rest of it was sufferable, but wow, what this could have been. Tomko was great as 'Asta', even with the pathetic writing of her storyline, an orphan who makes an orphan, really? A repeat battered wife, who just can't stop going back, even after that arch of the story was supposed to be over. Diana Bang was funny. Was Alice supposed to be playing a gay or lesbian character, with that raspberry red hair dye? I am Gen X, so I still don't understand the message there. Again though, you have an alien in the story, the human people are supposed to be culpable, but every one liner just flops, and the behaviors are just so basket case and tragic it lost me.
I also feel the huge plot potential and room for great saves with an alien as the protagonist. Asta being an orphan who makes an orphan is a little cheese, but is put on its head due to the fact Asta wants/tries to be in Jay's life (to varying degrees of success) unlike Asta's mother whom wanted/wants nothing to do with her child. The red hair thing doesn't need to mean anything IMO, D'arcy just wants to dye her hair bc she can. If you want to reach you could say it's representative of her impulsive character and makes her 'quirky', bc let's be real she is pretty quirky. But all in all Sheridan has done a solid job so far, i just want more alien hijinks, season 3 has started!
Season 1 was good. Season 2 went stupid. In every show, on e the children start to lead an adult show, it goes down hill. This show was sliding down at the end of season 1 and season 2 is just plain stupid, portraying a high alien being as stupid as a human. Humanity as we know it, CAN'T be the smartest being n the universe. If so...wow, what an issue. 🤔
the "Alien" is sidelined in his own show. It goes full on woke in season 2 with a barrage of misandrist content and woke politics. this is why it will get cancelled.
There are some laugh out loud moments, the lead character is great, worth a watch, ……but……., they just can’t help themselves with the SJW BS, i.e., 40% of the show is BS feminine troupes, and girl power. Ugh. I would say the show is worth a watch, just FF through all the Asta, Darcy, and little hijab girl BS.
Starts off with a decent enough premise and has some good laughs until about half-way through the first season. It becomes glaringly apparent that the writers are taking every opportunity to force in leftist ideology and ruin it. By the end of season one and beginning of season two, they throw in so much liberal crap and sappy drama it becomes barely watchable. If it were just one or two things it could be tolerable, but once you see the pattern it's obviously intentional.
It stars my all-time favorite actress, Linda Hamilton! I loved her since the 80s, 'Terminator' and 'Beauty and the Beast' series. (Yes, she will also star in Stranger Things: Endgame). 🥹❤
