I wonder if these actors are aware they were the first to play these iconic characters in the franchise. Like I wonder if they see Resident Evil 7 today and think -- damn, I remember when I did that game all of those years ago -- and see the characters they played still around.
It is an honor for them indeed. for they have help sow the seeds of a great franchise. It would be nice and touching of Capcom if they got all RE live action actors including the the actors for Leon and Claire in the live action commercial for Re2 to do a live- action commercial for Resident Evil 7
Well, I looked them up on IMDB and it doesn't look like they've done anything else. Maybe they weren't really actors. Either way, I wonder if they see the characters today and think, "wow, I was the first to play that guy / that girl." Who knows?
Fun fact: according to later games, all four of the main characters (Chris, Jill, Barry, And Rebecca) all made it to the helicopter in one piece. Meaning NONE of RE1’s endings are canon
According to a theory (pretty weird but better than nothing) the reason is that the story is being told from Wesker's perspective. And he intentionally lies about Barry's death to not look like a dumbass in his failed atempt to force him to double cross the team.
When I 1st played this, when it came out, alternate endings were like myths. There was no internet so you heard someone saying they had a cousin in Japan who told him about these sort of things.
Look at it. Look at the way Chris is smiling while watching Rebecca sleeping. Look at how he smiles the same way while looking at Barry. And look at how desperate he seems to be while being alone with Jill.
I think it's because of all the others of Bravo and Alpha, they're only two left. He must have thought he failed them, since they went there to save them.
Well he holds her hand and looks sad he fucked up the rest. And yeah there isnt really a point. I mean Rebecca is a kid, Barry is his bud or he is also attracted but like the contexts are that if he cannot save his teammates he feels he failed. And thats normal.
@@Brokenface Also RE3 and RE1 Remake. I think that players who gets this ending but doesn't see the First cutscene would say "OH NO! SHE'S HOT!" But uhh. I heard that she was in High School. We still haven't confirmed it tho.
Well not sure if you'll see this but you can do it. My hair use to be near my knees. I use to put it into a ponytail, then fold it as flat as I could into sections. Then once it was top of my head I would use a cop going from back to front to hold it and hide it.
16 years ago, I made my first experience with this game. My much older cousin played RE1 and I just sat there and watched. I was terrified, very terrified, by dogs jumping through windows and sinking ceilings. Needless to say, that I was too young to even watch someone play a game like this. Today, I finished the game for the first time. I'm 24 now. Haven't touched the game ever since I was haunted by bad nightmares for a good 2 weeks as a child. Even now, this game still knows how to scare the living fck out of you, due to the atmosphere, soundtrack and those messy angles of view. I've finally beaten my childhood nemesis. Kudos to Capcom, a great game it was.
And still some people say there is nothing to gain from playing videogames :-D Congratulations for finally cleaning things up. Now I hope all that stays with your memories or dreams from RE is the soothing theme of its save rooms :-)
The ending at 2:13 was the first I ever saw. My dad played the game as Jill but ended up getting Barry killed in the tunnels. Then he played Chris's scenario and got the best ending. Then he tried Jill's scenario again but got Barry killed again, this time in the laboratory. I ended up playing Jill's scenario just to prove to my dad that it was possible to save Barry, and I got the best ending. I was eleven, lol.
@@Natedawg38 For some reason I never got a notification that you replied to my comment. I don’t know if you figured out how to save Barry, but I’ll reply anyway. To save Barry you have to prove that you trust him. So when you fall down the hole after fighting the giant snake, you have to wait for him to come back with the rope. As for the tunnels, when Barry asks Jill if you can go together reply yes. Then when Barry asks if he should go first, reply yes again. Also, Barry will go through one of two doors in the tunnels. When you hear the gunshot, go through the door that he went through. If you go through the other door, even after answering yes to the prompts, then Barry will die.
Chris also smoked in RE 6. M-rated games have smoking to this very day. Event the Telltale Batman games have Gordon smoking on screen. The reason why film and especially TV shying away is due to sponsors not wanting to attach themselves to a show with smoking. Something games don´t need to bother with. Dito for comics, or anime, or many non-US productions.
wenaldy the sigarette was actually cutted out in the original US PS1 release and the director's cut, if you want the uncensored version you either play the original japanese release or the PC port
OK, this is going to sound completely dumb and cheesy, but I really think these endings truly show us the importance of friendship. When Chris rescues Jill and/or Rebecca (or when Jill rescues Chris and/or Barry), you can see that Chris is glad to have survived that awful and terrifying night and to have his teammates with him. I guess that all the STARS team (with the exception of that traitor Wesker) must all feel like a family to each other. Should Chris or Jill just make it out on their own (or with just one other team member), you can tell they are not entirely happy. They are exhausted and relieved, yes, but not completely happy. At 0:58, 2:03, 2:40 and 4:24, you can tell that Chris and Jill are regretting not doing more to help rescue their teammates. The music really makes a big impact as well. The night is finally over, the case has been closed (at least until the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3) and so ends one of the most classic video games of all time - a game that made us sleep with the lights on when we played it for the very first time; a game that gave us lots of awful and cheesy dialogue with terrible yet memorable voice acting; a game that gave us timeless and laughable video game quotes; a game that had amazing graphics for a PS1 game; and a game that will be remembered as the very beginning of one of the most successful video game franchises ever created. Thank you, Capcom.
Well said! It actually seems like their best acting is in these scenes. These endings are nice, simple but with enough difference between them to show how things turned out depending on which ending you achieved. Great stuff!
For all the flack these Live action scenes receive, there’s a lot of emotion in them regardless. Even without saying a word most of the time, the actors manage to nail the expressions and emotions for these characters. The way Chris dejectedly throws away his cigarette pack and stares off into space in his bad end is a really nice touch. You can tell he’s pissed off, worn out and utterly drained. Rebecca is dead. Jill is missing. His captain was a backstabbed who lead them all to their doom. He’s sick of it all. I think they managed to portray that incredibly well even without any dialogue and despite there being cheesy effects and music.
4:35 The moment when the helicopter is taking off, with that background music, showing those clouds it's so awesome. Despite the bad acting, i consider this to be the real, the true ending of resident evil 1, not the ones in the remake. Finish this game for the first time, was something very emotional to me. almost cried when i watched this ending and i was damn proud of myself for managed to do it.
@@orenges the remake for me was great, especially the atmosphere, but i never got to play the original and i really want to because these ending seem way more liberating, the i would have been fine if they kept these games on the playstation store, but unfortunately all the new remakes are replacing the originals which is sad because the old ones seem alot better
@@topbest2920 i hate the incredibly toned down brutAlity. I mean its a horror game, you dont tone down stuff in a horror game. Maybe if it was some other genre its fine. I was actually more frightened to the old games more mainly because of that. Remake is NOT at all scary.
You must realize that the first game was developed to be self conclusive, just in case the sales of the game were not so good and they were not able to continue with the saga.
@@reboomer8369 how many times must I see this fake rumour on the internet? The reason for the name "final fantasy" has been explained through official interviews. And it has nothing to do with it being a final game.
@@symbiote3220 . Final Fantasy is self conclusive in every game anyway (I never played XIII, so I don't know if the first XIII game is self conclusive.
David Kings no for you last two.... reboomer gets it but I guess I’ll elab on what we both had known and enlighten you two. *The creator is on record to have dubbed the franchise said name because it was to be Sakaguchis company’s “swan song” for his failing company as of late* that’s what the “final” entailed
Now i finally get to see the "Bad" endings for both Jill & Chris. How can anyone with a soul let that bundle of cute Rebecca die? At any rate, Thanks for sharing.
I like her voice gets really annoying because how her voice sounds I love Lynn Harris voice in this but why did they make her voice gets really annoying
Chris solo ending is so depresing. Seeing how this always optimistic and cheerful guy gets so melancholic, woefully enlightens his cigarette and throws the package away and exhales weakly... I really feel his emotions and my eyes get wet everytime. Say whatever you want, I adore the life-action cinematics of this game.
I love how in the best ending for Jill he's just fucking around with a gun, where as when it's just Jill and him there's some actual meaningful dialogue.
I still have this game stored in my drawer in my living room. I remember when I played this game back in 1998 or 1999 (it was one of those years) That game was scary and awesome, and I remember I thought the real video scenes was amazing and it still is. I also remember I thought that the actress playing Jill was very beautiful, and I still think she is. Great memories.
Chris: Are you tired Rebecca? Rebecca: oh sorry! Me: She just dealt with these leeches and leech boss thing before doing this whole mansion thing. I say she’s more exhausted than tired. But hey who’s says beating the final boss ends means you get to go home.
I remember I did finish the game about 10 times with different savings on the memory card to see all the endings. This game and the original Final Fantasy 7 (1998) were my favourite late 90s PS games. I was 14 back then. Can't believe this was 23 years ago.
Don't know why live action cutscenes aren't used any more as they will always be better quality than computer-generated films since they are real life! Also, they make the characters a lot more personal by giving them a real aspect rather than just a block of pixels.
Chris's face at 2:40 "Oh yeah I'm going to get laid to night" Or alternative comment "Oh yeah I'm going to get laid to night"? What ever one works best for you.
1:53 this always felt so satisfying, like I could feel how she must’ve felt releasing her hair after all those hours under the cap. Her hair looks like so greasy…
It's nice to see all of the endings. I've always wondered what it was like if you (chris/jill) survived just by yourself, it looked so depressing. Anyways, excellent video and thanks for the upload!
I remember playing this game back in 97 to 98 on the PS1. Oh man how the times have changed. I actually got directors cut again and will experience the blocky outdated graphics with the terrible voice acting all over again XD.
I love the two last endings in the video (the best endings). Jill is beautiful and the way she rests her head on Chris's shoulder is so cute. Chris smiling is charming and then he looks at Barry's checking his gun's bullets which is somewhat funny - or Rebecca sleeping which is also cute.
Just beat the HD remaster on pc today! Absolutely a great game and holds up even today! I'm a sucker for classics and I will definitely be complete an another run in the near future!
I just finished my first playthrough... Couldn't save Richard on time, probably because he can't be saved (In the Remake at least, he can, but in here, looks like it's for all situations.) Couldn't access prison to save Chris because I lost an MO Disc in the mansion (It was well hidden), and when I realized it, it was too late to go back. I roasted Barry because of the rope accident, he didn't trust me and got ahead, then he was attacked and died, asking me to give his family the photo. (Probably because I didn't wait for him to return with another rope. In my defense, I didn't thought the game would program this event. Then I paid the price when he didn't show up in the caves.) I almost cried. In the end, strangely, I got to the helicopter without fighting the Tyrant and destroying the mansion... The Tyrant survived. (I didn't had any followers, after all. Anyway, this was my first playthrough of the original, and I got the worst ending ._. Still shocked about how the scenarios change.
I wish every resident evil game had real life characters at the beginning and end that is one thing that is so amazing with the original resident evil game the real life characters.
The first ones to watch where they survive solo is so sad…. The one where Chris has Jill sleeping on his shoulder and then he looks over smiling to see Rebecca sleeping almost makes me cry.
So simple yet perfect. Then again at that point in time, myself and a lot of people were just amazed that we were seeing full motion video in a video game. Still the ending really fit well, and of course best of all, no talking....well except for maybe one or two versions.
I've only seen the last two endings seen here. The others I never knew existed, and they apparently elaborate more on Jill's backstory where she and Chris might be romantically involved, and that Jill's hair is much longer than I thought when she takes the hat off. ☺
