Resident Evil 1 Save Room Music (1 Hour Version) 

Me and my friend would spend the night at each other's house every weekend and we'd play resident evil till 6am. I remember this music would play throughout the night because we were both too scared to pick up the controller so we'd sit, eating twinkies and other junk food while we talked about whatever with this playing in the background until one of us musters up the courage to open the door and begin the horrors once again lol good times.

On the crate there is a lantern, the warm light makes you relax...

This is haunting as fuck. I swear game music is some of the most powerful music there is, perhaps it's because all of us attach subconscious memories of who we were at the time of playing, and the music brings it all back.

Believe it or not, way back in 1998, my mom and I would actually race downstairs -- first one to touch the PlayStation gets to play it first. She loved the survival horrors -- she finished Resident Evil 1 2 3 and Silent Hill 1. God I miss my mom and dad -- i hope that they come home from work soon .^_^.

The feelings in this piece of music for me (besides the nostalgia) it's a sense of calm and insecurity at the same time. You can take a break just for a few minutes... But you can't stay here forever, no... chill out all you want, but you still have to finish this nightmare and leave this "safe haven" at sometime...

well, im 34 years now, but i remember like it was yesterday, fridays after school i run home to my playstaion just to play this masterpiece. Remember spend all weekend with my cousin playing RE 1, 2 and 3 god i miss him it was his fav games, RIP bro! i cry everytime i remember our walktroughs, im here playing RE2 remake by myself but i know im not alone.....bro if u could see this Remake.....gaming is my religion hands fkng down...

This takes me back to a really weird night in August 2001. I was playing Resident Evil on my brother's PlayStation in our game room around midnight when nobody else was up. We lived in a rural area at the time, and the game room had a window that overlooked the main paddock of our property, which was empty since we were boarding our horses at a stable that summer. As I was playing I swore I could hear faint laughter coming somewhere but I shrugged it off as just my imagination. I got to the save area and sat there listening to the music for a bit. After a while I looked out the window and saw something that chilled me to the core. There were two people in the paddock, clearly visible since the moon was bright, moving around sporadically. I can't describe the feeling accurately in words but it felt like lightning went through my head and buzzed my entire body. I looked a little longer and made out that they were moving in only what I can describe as a sort of dance. Shortly after I muted it because the music was freaking me out, but I didn't want to turn it off since there was no way I was going to sit in darkness or turn on a light. After another few minutes I checked again and they were gone. It was absolutely surreal. When I got up the next day I told my dad about what I saw and he laughed, then said that they came by the previous day to ask if they could dance out there. I asked him why and he said they met at our farm around 20 years ago (at the time) before my dad owned the place when they were staying at our place for some sort of camp or getaway that the previous owner ran. Since they were in the area at the time they drove up to see the farm, chatted with my dad a bit who was out front when they came up, and then they asked if they could briefly dance in the paddock that night. My dad didn't tell me but I think I was working that day and it wasn't a big deal to him. My dad also invited them for lunch the day after, so they ended up coming over and they were really sweet. We laughed a lot about the situation, since something so terrifying for me was a nice romantic moment for them. Funny how a little perspective can change things!

It's fascinating how a musical piece can evoke feelings at the opposite ends of the spectrum at the same time. It's as anxiety inducing as it is calming. It's like a musical equivalent to "You're safe for now, but you know what horrors lurk outside, and you can't stay here forever."

This music is everything, it makes me go deep deep inside my memories...cant describe how it makes me feel exactly but its hard to find in any of the modern games today.

... I sadly never had the opportunity to experience the 90's, since I was born in 2001. But somehow, when I hear this theme, I feel so nostalgic and sad... as if it was saying "Welcome Back. I was waiting for you. Always will wait for you"

The ps1 era was a beautiful time to be alive and young. The memories always feel like a happy place, and I wish I could go back there.

My dad liked Resident Evil growing up. About three months ago he introduced me to it by letting me play the Resident Evil 2 Remake. He’s the only reason I’ve ever played it. I loved it. I loved it so much we bought the RE3 remake. Then I bought Resident Evil: Revelations. Then I played Resident Evil 7. I’ve beaten all of them and I’m now planning on beating the First Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4. All I can say is. I have a pretty cool father

Im now 30 years old and used to play this game when i was like 12 13 and used to just keep this playing for a while when in the safe rooms thinking about stuff still to this day i cant stop playing it resident evil fan for life!

this music instantly takes me back to the summer time with 2 friends in a friends summer house in the bottom of their garden, late at night. had pizza and smoke, was a really calm warm night. each taking it in turns to play after someone died. I miss those days. gaming will never be the same. :-(

I think what makes this track so powerful is how it makes you feel safe but reminds you that your only safe at the moment.

Reminds me of the warm summer afternoons playing games laid back on the bed, in my room, with the window roller shutter half closed... It was *my* save room, and I was so worry-free, young and full of health back then, now everything is shit.

Hearing this makes me happy and sad all at the same time. So many memories. takes me back to a time when my parents where still alive. I miss them so much.

This song brings back many memories of when I was a teenager in 96. It was the beginning of a new and glorious era in the video game world.

I remember 2002 as if it was yesterday. Going to Babbage's to get this game and seeing a giant poster of Jill being grabbed by a zombie. I remember being blown away by the graphics in the game. It looked a generation ahead of the PS2...... such great memories.

This is some of the more nostalgic music I have to my memory. So simple, yet beautiful and haunting. It's calming because it was reassuring music; It played only in save/supply rooms and that meant you were safe. It was set in contrast to the rest of the soundtrack, and the rest of the mansion. Resident Evil (original version) was the first truly scary horror survival game and as a young teenager it was the greatest period for gaming: game play was experimental and most the paradigms we know today were yet to be explored. Throughout my first few hours of playing; I honestly thought Resident Evil was a haunted house scenario.

This is the best resident evil save room music i have ever heard i remember playing resident evil 2 on my PS2 being scared of the lickers that was on the wall in the hallway when i was younger it brings back memories i miss the old days when everything was good and i didn't have to work and could just play games all day 😔.

I played the first 3 RE's since I was 8, now I'm 28. After 20 years, I can still remember every detail of the gameplay, and all the feellings. Now I come up with this song for candle light shower every fuckin' night after work. Good Job man!

It was 2002 was only 11 years old. I saw RE1 remake screenshots on PSM magazine. I was blown away. My older brother and I put our money together and eventually bought a GameCube just to play RE1. And to this day, it is still the BEST resident evil to date! I played all of them, but RE1 remake still holds a special place…

This version is more haunting than the remake. The scream is more intense and clear.

Caddicarus described this music best in his Resident Evil review back in 2018. “It’s the most peaceful and comforting theme in the whole game, yet is still unsettling as all Hell to let you know you aren’t as safe as you think you are.” It’s eerily soothing and relaxing to listen to

You know how they say that music has the ability to help you remember the time and place when you first heard it? And then you end up being so reminiscent that you shed some tears and wish you could relive those simple times? That’s how I feel when I listen to the RE save rooms: 0, 1, 2, 3, Code Veronica, and Dead aim 😔

I don't know exactly how to explain the feeling that this track brings, but it's something like a heavy melancholy. It brings a vision as if you were the only person alive in the world and trapped alone in a nightmare. No one to talk, no one to answer, no one to help... Just the isolation and the monsters outside. A relaxed and conformed kind of loneliness and lack of hope. Something WAY depressive and phantasmagoric. Could it be this that they intended to? Just this one from RE1 has this. Any other music from save room, don't.

I come back to this thread time after time to get away from today's nightmare. This beautiful music brings back a time of calm that once was. The nostalgia is very soothing and makes me yearn for those beautiful youthful memories. I miss the good old days. Thank you Capcom and playstation for creating a memorable masterpiece.

Listening this theme in 2021 makes me realize that staying in would be a wise decision for a majority of people. And for those who came back home unscathed, they are greeted with the serenity of safety and loving arms. Yeah, so much nostalgia in this one.

Thank you so much for this man -- this brings me back to my grade-school days where my Mommy and I spent so many summer afternoons helping Chris and Jill survive the Arklay Mountains. The music by itself is aesthetically excellent. But it's made even better by the memories associated with it. Thank you once more man!

Whenever I hear this music I think of a woman staring at the sea on a hill, I can see through her thoughts and in her thoughts I see memories like pictures and people that passed by her life, and I also can see like struggles and horrors that she went by and there she's standing alive and well but alone just remembering all the struggle to be where she is in a far, lonely but beautiful place, It's weird though if I can only show you, maybe I'll make a video someday.

I was born in the early 2000s, I did not grow up with Resident Evil, unfortunately. I stumbled upon this theme a bit ago and I am absololutely hypnotized, I envy those that have had the chance to grow up with what seemingly seems to be an absolute masterpiece that is Resident Evil. Videogames are just not what they used to be anymore...

I was 15 years old when this came out and played it, this music brings back all those memories 😁 ,going down to my local store buying a walkthrough magazine.

I remember living in the dorm in Hawaii when this game was out and my roommate and I would leave this on at night to go to sleep to. Very relaxing.

I'm 36 now. This music is a part of my childhood, and hearing it while I sit here in quiet contemplation makes me long for days long past, and people that exist in a time long gone. 36 isn't old. It isn't even half way to the end. But hearing this is a double edged sword. In some ways, it makes all those times feel like they just happened. In other ways, it makes them feel like an ancient memory. Makes ya really miss being 13. Also, does this song sound eerily similar to "Aquatic Ambience" from Donkey Kong Country? Because listening now, it sounds fucking close...
