Maybe because they liked the character so much that they wanted to make reference to said character (the one from the AMC version) And the best thing is that leon looks like the original version (comic series)

I had a lot of moments like that too. It can be frustrating, for sure! But you just gotta carefully plan your next move and properly utilize the save system and you will be fine.

They should’ve added Leons Re4 costume, and gangster attire, and claires Code veronica outfit. Like for example Chris and Jill both got their Re3 and code veronica costumes in their remake. I wish capcom would have done that

Capcom didn't do that because back then RE4 remake was in development and to this day they are still working on a Code Veronica remake.
