He literally told him Nighthawk to go and escape because "Survival is his responsability". Hunk was ok of being on a city about to get nuked. It's scary to think that he could have found a way to get out on foot.
This may as well be the canon run of Hunk's story in RE2. It's exactly how you imagine an experienced soldier would proceed: He'd always be moving, but paced as to not get exhausted. He'd make use of his entire kit, knowing when to use what. He'd only take the necessary engagements, as to conserve resources.
The best part is that canonically, he was only trained about 2 years before this happened. In 2 years, HUNK went from trainee/rookie, to the legendary Grim Reaper.
Imo it's hard to speed run but much easier to play regularly. Not to mention at the beginning they used a shot on the first zombie despite being able to just run past it without using any ammo lol. Edit: i forgotten it was a no damage run for a moment nvm lol, the first zombie can still be gotten past without shooting it and taking no damage though
@@deletedaccount7 dude, I’ve been trying for half of today, I swear whether or not you get grabbed is completely random. One time I can run past them all, the next I’m doing exactly The same and they’re at the same distance but nope, I get grabbed, and again and again and lose all my healing items or grenades. I’ll try again tomorrow, following this dude’s video. If he makes it look easy, maybe I’ll barely make it.
@@FEARoperative the full thing no damage is definitely hard, the first zombie tho you have to hug the left and then after passing the second one hug the right before reaching the third. There are a few parts like that where you can just run past them after getting the path down.
Imagine having to take a full day to get through an actual living nightmare, just to have another guy Crip walk through the same nightmare unscathed in 8 minutes.
Well I mean... Leon and Claire did unlock all the doors for him. Also, you can hear it in HUNK's voice that it's not his first time when something like this has happened.
This guy literally uses everything he has got : pistol, shotgun, assault rifle, submachine gun, magnum, flashbang, grenade everythinggg & also uses it so precisely & perfectly.... What a gamer
well you cant do this in 1 run, before he made this run he was practicing for hours. ive discovered some of the tricks he used by myself, but not all of them
The line "I wanted to meet the grim reaper" is not only cool, but a really smart wordplay; him coming back to save Hunk , nicknamed "Grim Reaper", might be considered dangerous and suicidal enough that he would have met the actual Grim Reaper (personification of death) if things turned out bad.
@@qlcrane8019 Its funny how you entirely missed the point of his comment. Its a smart wordplay because grim reaper can be both about hunk or literal death as he is risking his life by staying.
Man I second this so so much, RE2 in particular has been given such an insane degree of love is this remake. This was already in my top three games of all time when I played the original. The facial expressions on characters are phenomenal. The gameplay is absolutely magnificent. This mode in particular is so well put together it is insane! I remember when this released I was so happy to have been alive to play not only the original but this utterly flawless remake. Please do Code Veronica too Capcom thanks!
This is like watching a movie. The perfect run that fits the narrative of the story so well. The pilot implies that Hunk is unstoppable and he was right.
Normally I don't like no damage, or speedrun, or any sort of gameplay like that, but this is one of the few instances where it fits the scenario really well. Just a spec ops dude trying to get out of a very bad situation alive made it feel like a lot of fun.
About five minutes in, "What the hell Hunk? You're late for extraction." - Has literally not stopped moving forward amidst an actual, literal nightmare.
To be fair, a nuke is heading towards the town, and the pilot is inside the radius explosion. I'd say he's a good guy waiting for someone he barely knows, risking his in the process.
@@AangDknight Agreed. What man in their right mind isnt going "HURRY THE HELL UP" when a nuke is headed towards you? Dont care if Hunk has 4 to the floor in a car and makes it in 2 minutes
Kind of eerie that Hunk pretty much accepted his fate when it seemed like he won’t make it out in time. Or maybe he already formed Plan B all the way to Z and ready to just improvise.
@@lilj19921 hopefully they do a spin-off on him since he did get extracted after getting the g virus they never confirmed he died in the other games so he's probably alive
@@lilj19921 According to the Wiki he works for Umbrella for a bit till they fall in 2003 in which he becomes a Legendary Mercenary and basically creates a form of CQC for zombie infected area.
Considering Hunk made it alone through the city after the full virus breakout, packed with infected and even the worst types around, like lickers and tyrants, he HAS to be the most badass character in RE
What I love about this game is it shows just how impossible a zombie apocalpyse can be even with guns. Eventually all those zombies would have turned into lickers so if Leon had turned up a week later well.... he would be dead dead. This kind of hell is probably what all those police officers faced during the initial outbreak.
TV lies. Bullets are so powerful, they can go through crowds of people like butter. The ending to Shaun of the Dead sums it up. Now, biological mutations? That's a different story. You create mutant, blood thirsty humans that can fly, with hides as thick as Elephants, and you got a problem.
A real Zombie apocalypse wouldn't happen. Everyone talks about guns, but forgets about tanks. Those 50 ton boxes of steel that a zombie can't get into and can just run over the entire hoard.
@@SaveTehWorld This is very true I've said many times besides the biology. From an army standpoint they wouldn't last and also zombies wouldn't last long maybe a year we do have nature after all.
@@SaveTehWorld resident evil seems to understand this, every single outbreak we see in the games are entirely localized to a specific area, and never last longer than a week at most
Gotta respect the pilot. He really did not want to leave Hunk behind. The fact that he came back shows how legendary Hunk’s reputation is, he knew one way or another Hunk would make it.
Ill take it one step forward. Imagine the rep you would get back at HQ to be the guy H.U.N.K died on when you had a chance to save him. No one would ever want you to be on your squad again if you managed to get even the reaper killed.
@@quirda77 Yeah I can’t even imagine that. It was selfless of Hunk to tell the pilot to leave & prioritize his life. Not only is he a beast but has a good attitude whereas some people in his position would not value the lives of their squad, just to use them as disposable tools.
He just did some math and realised that 1 or 2 minutes ahead of a nuclear explosion won't increase his chances much, so he might aswell die with a clear conscience.
the remakes have been a blessing, currently playing RE 4 remake with a hunk skin and it just makes the game all that more believable outside of dialogue It makes sense why the President asked Leon, but imagine if he hired HUNK to rescue his daughter.
@@guardianofthevirginrealm7469 Hunk yelled at his teammate for shooting Birkin when they were supposed to bring him alive. There's no way he would be stupid enough to kill the president's daughter.
For the longest time I couldn't clear this mode. Kept dying at the very end. I used your video as a guide for some tips and tricks. Now 3 years since the game came out, I finally got the platinum trophy. I still almost died, but a win is a win.
For some reason when it comes down to games that are developed by capcom i can’t help but feel like wanting to come back every time to see these no damage videos for me these videos gives me this rhythm feeling that gives this smooth feeling and I can never get bored
Thank you so much for showing me the rout and giving me the confidence to beat this. It's been a wild couple of hours getting this down but in the end I got my most proud bronze trophy I've ever earned.
The craziest thing to me is that outside of the lab and the outdoor section from the RPD to the Sewers, you basically go through the entire game world of RE2 remake within 10 minutes as Hunk. Really shows how much this game gets out of a relatively small space.
It's honestly amazing watching people who have mastered a particular game or level play as hunk, because it depicts Hunk exactly as you imagine him: In complete control.
Using this play through and learning some tricks after 1 hour I managed to finally beat this in 13 min. Thank you, it’s harder then it looks and I was struggling
@@persey7241 They needed a key to unlock the gate, while Hunk fucking smashed the lock with no difficulties. I'm pretty sure he would do the same to other locks, no matter how fancy the keys are.
Since everyone is commenting solely on HUNK, I applaud the gamer, for bringing us a very accurate representation of HUNK that was too entertaining (and badass) for further words
@@cornocob7144 am I trippin or isn't this game available on PC? Also i went with rise of tomb raider which I love so far. Was on sale for under 10 bucks
don't know if the intention of this vid was to help anyone but it sure helped me. Still got damage but managed to complete it in a single run, thank you
Kinda imagine this is how Hunk would have operated. He'd have memorized the layout completely and once he had to get out had it all mapped out in his head. Experience in combat would let him know what enemies he had to neutralize and what he could avoid. Never going faster than a swift controlled jog to conserve stamina and give him enough time to deal with surprises if they came from the front. Above all else. Kept talking to the minimum to reduce noise, maintain focus and allowing him to hear the Lickers BoWs he knew were deployed in the area.
Hunk is like a COD player. In basically every circumstance, he knows how to keep his focus, his cool, and not talk for, well, the same reasons. I mean the teen COD players. Or young adult COD players. The heavily skilled ones. Not all of the 5 year olds! Edit: This comment aged terribly
@@sainkanzaki No. I mean the ones who can concentrate really well. The ones who can kill anyone who walks around a corner. People who have prestiged more than 3 times, let alone once.
Ha, Let's Players, am I right? "But he said it wouldn't attack me if I was quiet!" Me: Sorry, Lickers hate it when you run for even a millisecond. Please walk at all times around them. Especially before you've entered the room they're in. Thank you.
Thanks so much. I certainly couldn't do no damage, but your tips got me to the end (after about 8 tries!) The only thing I did different was use sub ammo earlier to save my magnum.
Leon: Rookie Police Clare: College student Ada: Corporation Spy Sherry: A girl Hunk: Leader of a tactical squad with years of training and dozens of missions carried out with resounding success. Not to mention his nickname of Mr. Death.
I mean, success? Yeah. Resounding? Questionable. The dialogue indicates he earned his nickname long before the raccoon city incident, probably meaning he has lost squads full of trained soldiers before. It's also kind of tragic, as there are some signs that he cares for his men more than for himself, covering for the soldier who shot Birkin and telling the pilot to leave without him so that he wouldn't risk getting caught in the nuke. In a way, he constantly loses the ones he cares about, leaving him the only one standing. Heck, in RE Operation Raccoon City(which I know isn't canon), he pushes your team to leave, and goes to retrieve the sample by himself, putting himself in a lot more danger so that you don't have to.
One of my proudest moments in gaming is finishing Hunk's mode. I never minded all my retries because his ost SLAPS. Here before RE4 drops, looking forward to kicking more ass as Hunk in Mercenaries mode 👏 🙌
@@unknownguy8687 not necessarily. Remember the fact he works for umbrella corp. And he could get the antivirus before he started his mission. But he's way too good to get a single scratch.
@Soup master 64 I read something about it online. I think it was like 4% of the population. But I didn't check if it was in the world or just in racoon city.
Man, I want Capcom to make an exclusive story on HUNK. Like, what he's been up to since 2 to 8. Just 1 whole game about him through the entire series and after.
Honestly, it only sounds good on paper. Hunk works best in short scenarios where he’s constantly on the move and not talking. A full game requires a lot more by capcoms design philosiohy. He’d have to start messing with puzzles, or lengthy dialogue with people and be tethered to a heavy plot that would rub away his best traits and make him more like the usual characters like Chris redfield. Over saturation ruins every cool character. Stick to brevity, stick to direct action, stick to mystique. We don’t love hunk because he’s always around and goes through character growth, and unveils conspiracies with BOWs. We love hunk because he gets shit done fast and leaves while saying very little from start to finish.
Nighthawk: *Gives ten minutes.* Hunk: *Scourges through a literal nightmare of zombies, mutants and a tyrant, making it to RPD in only five minutes.* Also Nighthawk: “What the hell, Hunk? You're late for extraction."
Leon in RE4 intro: September 98... I'll never forget it... Hunk: September 98... I have no idea what happened... I guess I had a small delay trying to get to the extraction chopper!
This is legit the video i watched repeatedly to learn the best possible ways to get through this. Freely admit i didnt do it nearly as clean, but it gave me the balls and ability to get it done.
@@sparknazo Actually I think one of the coolest things about Hunk is that he isn't totally an antagonist. He's on a mission and is only interested in getting it done. Umbrella be damned, he's just out to deliver his end of the deal.
Bro is a legend. I tried doing every single move the same way he did, managed to do it in a bit less than 45 min, but ended with low HP and no healing items. One single extra mistake and I'd have to do it all again. That shit's hard af
@@mi-kwan_tait8031 I believe he does that on the stairs as it makes him go faster, i did the first time seeing that get confused, but i've seen speedrunners do the exact same
watching you go through the end part with so much ease just hurts me inside i have literally not been able to finish this and keep dying at the end part
The best thing about HUNK is that while he's cold-blooded enough to leave his teammates behind if the mission requires it, he's not above his own rule of "This is war, survival is your responsibility". You have to give kudos to a man who, was about to die from a nuclear bomb, still stick to his principles to the bitter end by telling his only escape route to leave him.
This class of men doesn't die that easily. Even if no one would have come to his help and the bomb is finally launched, he would have found something to shelter and escape, even if he has to go down to the hell itself and find his way through the zombie-infested underground until reach a safe zone. Days, weeks, months... doesn't matter, survival is his responsibility.
Technically he needed to complete his mission, that is to retrieve the G-virus sample. As far as I know he's very committed to his mission. Therefore, asking NIGHTHAWK to leave him be to die in the city to be nuked along with the virus sample seems contradictory to his character and his absolute goal of completing the mission. This is a writing incongruity and/or plot armor because with 1 phrase he just risked jeopardizing his entire mission. He's lucky that NIGHTHAWK came back for him.
That was awesome. I only tried a couple times but I don't think I ever got past the second encounter with Mr. X on the stairs. The music, the intensity, and the dialogue made this a thrilling watch. My heart was pounding!
