Resident Evil 4 Remake - Character Models Comparison + Alternative Outfits - Original (HD Project 2022) vs Remake (2023) - Side by Side All the game captures, editing, thumbnail were done by me.
They're trying to retain the original element as much as possible. The characters design, the stage, the environment, the gameplay etc. I love it. Great Comparison video bro. Great work❤❤❤
In the past, when designing characters, there was creative freedom in both the character and their clothing. Nowadays it is more marked by the "realistic", since currently clothes like this "do not exist" You could say that aesthetic charisma was put aside for a real one.
@@halfmykur8326yep, and its still just a game, no matter how much they are trying to make it real. But sure... Nice effort for them to make things look "realistic"
@@DiamondsBrainzoriginal Leon also had a cartoonishly small torso and head with elongated freakish limbs. I swear you people just look for shit to hate. The reason most of the things in the new game are real items. Is because the game engine. The re engine scans real life items, objects and people to replicate. It's why the fabric moves so realistically, it's why the hair moves so realistically. It's why the physics are so good. Notice how the jacket has realistic wrinkles, folds and details while the original is this weird tiny jacket made to fit his freakish proportions like his ridiculously small torso and super long legs and arms
In general, the models in the original version seem to have small heads and broad shoulders. In this version, it feels like aesthetics were pursued first. Personally, I like the current photorealistic physique, and I know that this ultimately results in a more vivid gaming experience. However, I also miss the technique of exaggerating the actual person's appearance in older games for aesthetic purposes.
I agree overall but still find it hard to completely separate aesthetic purposes from the mere state of the art 3d abilities for ps2-gen games around the early-sh 00s, when the game was being made. Some things back then (even now, but there was more back then) were the result from limitations of budget or even just ability on 3d technology... without kind of elaborate artistic decisions.
My opinions on the outfits Leon with jacket: og Leon with shirt: og Rpd leon: remake Leon mafia costume: og Ada: remake Undercover Ada: og Dress: og Ashley: both tbh Knight Ashley: both Other Ashley costume: remake Luis: og Krauser: remake Hunk: remake Wesker: og Merchant: remake The big cheese: remake Ramon: og Saddler: both
Since RE4 Original and DMC4 share kind of Videogame characters. When Unreal Engine comes things change, they apply most likely some Realistic. After DMC5, Capcom used the same on RE4 Remake.
capcom started using their own engine after re6, called the RE Engine. athough it wouldn't be too hard for dedicated developers to develop something as detailed as this remake on UE5 considering its tech
@@cuttrogue it's ok, it's ok... Leon is beautiful either way. If you want OG, you can have him. I'll take Remake Boy happily, supposed "chub" and all! ❤
I might be biased being an older cat, but I prefer the older models. Leon had a darker look about him in the OG that I really like. I will say that Ada looks better to me in the remake, though.
Well, im in my 30s, played the original close to its release on the gc, and actually not super enthusiastic about the current game industry, but im not nostalgia biased. Some things in the original look great, but to me many look better in the remake.
OG!Ada looks older despite the two incarnations presumably being the same age. I think it works well for their respective characters and voice acting. Also, I hate that they didn't give Ada better renditions of her classic outfits. Epseically her dress (the red/black is nice but I'd like to have her full red dress with butterflies streaming down and her black pumps, no stocking/leggings. And MY GOSH GIVE HER BACK HER RIBBON THAT FLOWS IN THE WIND!) and RE2 outfit (with full leggings and flat shoes and optional tactical gear, I swear Capcom hates this original rendition because it never appears outside of OG!RE2).
I'm glad capcom gone away with that weird and impractical looking dress from the OG. Idc what any OG fanboys will say, but remake Ada is one of the hottest video game woman ever created lmao
I cant be the only one that thinks gameplay character model of the remake looks weird for some reason lol cut scenes he’s the sexy leon we all know and love but something is off during actual gameplay 😂
Sigh, OG Leon looked hot 😢 They did a good remake job with Wesker but I think the only character that had it good in both versions was Luis. Also they definitely covered up alot of skin in all the remake characters, seriously...
Though they look like they tucked some gems on their eyes😭 Old vid games are hilarious sometimes, I like how they used to design game characters especially their hairs, they are unrealistic more like anime style, like red punky hair or casually blue, pink, silver over-dressed hair 🐜 today's and the past has some own uniqueness I think I love that
Thats something shome people don't understand :( BUT the design and such in the remake is still damn good and some are down right just better i can't lie
Leon with jacket... Classic! Leon R.P.D... Classic! Leon Mafia... Both! Ada... Both! Re2 Ada... Both! Ashley... Remake!! knight Ashley... Remake!! Luis... Both! Krauser... Classic! Hunk... Both! Wesker... Both! Merchant... Classic! Big Cheese... Both! Salazar... Classic! Saddler... Classic! U3... i hate them both
That’s kinda the point, the gameplay itself was meant to make the storyline feel more darker, and that the las plagas was more of an actual problem than people originally anticipated
@@SupremeVictory420 actually missions after the re2 story, the aftermath of all of that, maybe has something to do, and of course, to make the 4 more darker
They are more modern yes but Ada and Leon look young while in OG they both looked older and sexy, even Kraiser or whatever his name looked bulky af threating compared to Remake whos just there. I do think Ashley Wesker Salazar and especially Luis were an improvement just because they very much look like tall white blonde North American people and Luis looks South American as he is represented to be while Salazar has that bit of history of having a real disease. It feels like it stopped being just a game now being a real as possible (ofc thats not the case its still a game)
