Resident Evil 4 Remake - Del Lago Lake Monster Boss Fight (4K) 

Really wish they didn’t remove the swimming back to the boat and cutting the rope at the end. Just played it now and realize how cool that was.

the original shot from top view where del lago swims underneath is iconic. quite disappointed that they omit it in this remake.😢

Del lago in the original feels more intimidating than the remake, I miss the moment where leon gets his leg roped up or have frantically mash your button just to swim back into your boat.

I miss the QTE for this one battle. The fear you have for being knocked into the water and swimming up to your boat is better than just throwing harpoons at the creature.

Original boss fight was much more scarier with the overview scene of the 60ft monster following the boat from underneath, and the button mashing to get back into the boat while it chases you

1:05 Wow, missing important detail here. In the original, it showed the hook go into the water and clipping the giant salamander. Here, it just goes right to it.

I have to say this boss fight was a lot easier than I thought.

I'm only on chapter 4 but goddamn I'm blown away by how great this is. Capcom did phenomenal work on this.

i get they wanted to do away with qte's but leaving out the part where the sinking monster's harpoon snag's leon's leg just added to the element of always staying on your toes. The new colors for this fight are beautiful but I wish they kinda kept the old grays in this lake. It made it feel isolating. like you and the monster were the only ones. But I love how much more imposing the monster feels.

This is a mixed bag. Del Lago itself looks better, and the graphics of the arena are beautiful. But I’m missing the shot at the beginning of the fight when it swims under the boat. I’m missing the huge amount of close call moments there were. And I think the music is lackluster here too. The music in the original fight was so simple and so scary

oof yeah if you compare the og RE4 with the remake, the removal of qte for Del lago deff makes its boss fight somewhat worse. not as much tension since Leon presumably can't get knocked off the boat+swim back before he gets eaten. and especially the ending where leon's supposed to be dragged down due to the rope getting tied around his leg by accident where he has to cut the rope off fast as possible. the removal of these 2 things makes del lago not as dangerous or as intense which is somewhat disappointing. but its understandable why they removed some qtes. yet.. del lago's the one they shouldve at least kept it in since it made sense thematically for this boss, especially the ending part. I deff admit the graphics however, the graphics are gorgeous for this boss fight with the pink sunset in the background, I really like that

I discovered the lake monster secret death by accident on the original RE4 and it scared the hell out of me🤣. I just randomly decided to shoot out in the distance in NG+ with my infinite rocket launcher before going to the boss fight

Sorry, but the part where Leon was almost dragged by the rope that was attached to Del Lago was just ridiculous, the rope was tied to the boat, then out of nowhere it got tangled in Leon's leg... man it didn't make sense

I was hoping they changed the fight where we controlled the boat and shoot del Lago. It's not bad, but I'm still a little disappointed.

Honestly I think they did amazing with this remake, the water physics do this boss fight so much justice, the way the water dips super far down when del lago dives shows just how huge and powerful the creature is.

Kinda remind me of harpooning in assassin's creed

3:06 on my professional run, I had low health and Del Lago was doing this attack, right about to chomp me. I got in one more harpoon hit to kill him and just narrowly avoid a death. shit had me on the edge of my seat lmao

I don't understand how the rope gets hooked with the boat and the monster. And when the monster is killed, it sinks with everything and the rope connected to the boat, how come the boat doesn't sink with the weight of the creature??? 🙃

I played through all of the Resident Evil games & not one person has stopped to asked “How the fuck does a virus make something like that?!”.

Is it just me or the cinematic in the original is better than the remake. The shots looks rather bland. In the original you felt the intense feeling looking a big shadow lurking under the boat. You can even see how the rope got attached to the monster under the water. The sound effect is really satisfying. Also the intense scene cutting the rope wrapped on your leg, and see the big monster going down the water, to make you sure that it's really dead. The fight is more intense too, dodging the log, del lago going under water makes him harder to shoot. The effect of the blood is nicer to see too. This is the problem I see when trying the demo, the cutscene looks simplisitic, the original re4 it felt like you're watching a movie.

Just imagine a crocodile or a gamma hunter infected with las plagas and growing large

While I love the remake I can't seem to notice some few changes they made in this fight. In the OG game. Cutscene showed us how the boat were attached to the Del Lago while swimming underneath us.

This fight on higher difficulty is just annoying its not hard but he has way too much health u have to hit him with so many harpoons

this fight looks a LOT easier than the original Del lago. Took me forever to realize I could steer the boat to avoid the trees, I always thought if you got knocked off you only had one chance to swim back... swimming back to low health, we all know that feeling like MAYBE you can make it

This just feels like the mini game in black flag, trying to catch whales and sharks...

Man, I'm not even trying to be a party pooper but this boss in particular does not hit the same as the original. That's just my honest opinion. The lighting, choice of music, Leon's repetitive in-game one liners, del lago's design, and the lack of QTEs or anything new is taking me out.

The boss was great. Had some changed but I am glad that they kept it in.

Just finished this fight. This is (so far) the only part of the remake that doesn’t compare to the original, but I appreciate them trying! I think the old fight just had an unmatchable presentation and presence tbh

Aw they they removed the part at the end of the fight where Leon & the boat almost get dragged to the bottom with Del Lago. The original did it better in my opinion this just seems repetitive with no mix up maybe it changes on harder difficulty.

There is a second del lago by a side quest you have to kill him this giant fish which you can sell to the merchant it also is somewhere written that this fish is larger than every other fish. in a short time it grown very big and is going to be the second one well it isn't said but when you read between the lines than you understand.

Although I haven't played the original RE4, my brother did, and honestly, I like it when the boat in the looks to be in worse condition. Including it's unreliability. (a.k.a, when it "decided" to stall on it's own.)

IF there was Co-Op, at first, one may think that whoever's steering the boat, might make the boss fight even easier. Though I'd imagine that one way to balance that, COULD be that whoever's throwing the harpoons, have to stand up, so the boat driver would have a hard time seeing what's in front of the boat. Enough so that he/she MAY "blindly" drive into one of the "tree debris", or Del Lago itself.

So they turned it into the Harpooning Side Mission in AC 4 Black Flag.

So YEARS ago I found a youtube video of a guy showing how you could one shot the boss by hitting a very specific part of the inside of his mouth when he charges. Now that the remake is out it's been buried deep down everything else. But just on my very first run on the remake I remembered that video and decided to go for it. I aimed down JUST below the center of his mouth and the fight was over. Less than 2 minutes spent on him. But now, every other run I do this fight drags on for about 15 minutes. Anyone else ever hear of this?

Remember to load 1000 harpoons into the boat.

Guess im one of the few that prefers this over the og? Only nitpick is there isnt a shot of del lago swimming under the boat but i prefer how this fight is presented and the music for this fight is something i can listen to on repeat

I feel like the remake biggest problem is the lake/boss colour. Both are blue colors with low saturation, while the original was almost red/blue and the lake almost green

If someone can prove me this (on the PS4) is beatable on hardcore difficulty (without mods or cheating) I'll recomend him/her for a noble prize. (The Remake).

Maybe it's just me, but this is easily my most hated part of this game. It's because (at least it seems to be) it's completely random. What I mean is that parts where the water calms and then he charges at you...I've hit him once when he charges and had him dive and I don't take any damage...but I've also hit him TWICE and he did a late dive and I still took a ton of damage. And then when he goes past debris, half the time he turns before reaching it and it's impossible to tell if I need to go left or right (because of the unpredictable turn) and I often hit it because I couldn't tell which way to veer. Love this game. Love Capcom. But for fucks sake, I HATE this part...
