ON PS5 console ONLY , tips L1+R1 is NOT NEEDED , only L1 to throw harpoon . 2nd tip , let tuna dude steer you through or around obstacles , I swear I forgot I could steer on this one .To help with this and avoid the first 2 big kill your boat attacks , while being pulled AIM AND STAY ON HIS RIGHT , trust me , L1 only , stick to his right , spam away , couple times you get straight mouth throws , they help , was going to say forget it , as ohh 15 times tried ? All of a sudden BAM tuna 🍣 casserole 😮😊😂 hope this helps 👍

When i played on normal i beat Del Lago first try, now i'm doing professional and this thing is killing my vibes, there nothing i can do to speed up my shots on PS5 . I think i'm on my 12th reload .

I think the best thing to do is to instead of saving at the chapter start go ahead and save after fish farm. Up to Del Lago it's fairly easy as long as Utters doesn't catch you with his hammer. At least that what I started doing in the beginning. Also, for the first cycle he doesn't run you into objects so you can hold one direction to really get a frame on him. Basically you can only miss two shots on the one cycle

We’re you trying to do a 15-save run or something? I was just trying to do it (just got the game recently) on my S Pro NG+ run to get the Ashley armor, Chicago, etc., and I was trying to do the 15 save run for no reason and ended up having to redo the whole chapter, so I just scrapped the whole run 💀 it was going so well too

tried 10x, I stayed alive for many cycles and got many hits on him, it doesn't seem to matter, the fact that no HP is displayed ruins the experience. I have no idea what my progress is.

This boss fight on Professional is driving me nuts to the point of rage. If i don't beat this boss on professional on my next 10 tries' am going to forfeit my professional playthrough. This isn't worth the stress. I hate that this game punishers players for saving often.

It's not exactly punishing the player it's giving the player a challenge with rewards. Capcom has been doing this with Resident Evil from the beginning. You couldn't unlock certain modes like Tofu mode or unlockables without pertaining to a challenge. Not many games do this anymore. Pro S+ is supposed to be hard yet not impossible. Just takes practice man, you'll get there

I hope you didn’t give up. I just got my cat ears a few hours ago. This boss is incredibly easy once you know the trick. All you do is hold the thumbstick (or button if you’re on PC) to make the boat move to the right. Of course zig zag out of the way of debris, but you’ll only have to avoid a few. After dodging the random tree stumps that may or may not pop up in your way, continue to stay to the right. When Lagos leaps to smash you, you’ll be so far out the way that it’s laughable. After 4-5 leaps, you’ll most likely understand the timing and even get a spear hit. Just make sure you hit his mouth when the boat comes to a complete stop and Lagos is coming directly at you. The game gives you plenty of time in these instances, even on professional. Once you start moving again, just stay to the right. Once you understand that you are able to basically dodge everything, there’s no need to waste a save. Very, VERY easy.

I actually hate this boss, the harpoons sometimes don't even hit where I wanted it to and he takes a shit ton of hits to die, I beat him in 4 minutes which is pretty long but thank God it's over.

One thing that has consistently worked for me (if you want to survive Del Lago) is keeping your boat to the left 100% of the time (like pressing A all the time on your keyboard). I still can't kill him that fast, but at least I always survive this fight and prevents me from losing giant chunks on the s+ pro from my last save.

So, currently for the speedrun with perfect DA you can kill Del Lago in just 7 hits which sounds amazing on paper until you find out just how difficult it is get the right DA for the fight. Honestly, just doing as you've said is perfectly fine. As long as you don't get into 2nd or 3rd cycle the fight is fairly consistent and easy.

Got my cat ears today and only had to play this section once. The trick is to keep your boat moving to the right. Of course zig zag out of the way of the floating debris if it’s in your path, but just stay to the right. Lagos misses the leap slam by miles, every time. It may take 40 harpoons, but it will never hit you as long as you keep to the right. Really easy, actually, compared to other parts, like the regenerator section, just need patience. Try it out.

He can be a pain. I find it's easier in the forst cycle to pick a direction and hold it the entire fight, because it gives you an advantage in actually landing a shot as well as he doesn't steer you into things in the first cycle. Hope this helps 🙌

So why is it that I've seen Del Lago killed on professional in like 11 harpoon throws, with like 3 or 4 misses, and yet I get experiences like this one where you took 20 harpoon throws including a mouth shot? This boss's hp seems like a fucking enigma I just cannot understand it. I've seen bad players one-cycle him on lower difficulties and good players FILL him with harpoons and take 3-4 cycles

I already have my cat ears my fastest time is 3 hours and 10 minutes and only 3 saves, but I can say that I HATE THE DEL LAGO the most out of all the levels! If it was skippable I would skip it every single time! And if I ever meet the person responsible for the level they will get an earful out of me!

I've watched so many people play this and i'm landing way more hits than everybody but he still doesn't die. This section has to be random or bugged. Unless you show us the pause screen I'm convinced all these videos are either on easy or cheating hacks are enabled

Lmao there's no cut in this video. This is the whole fight on professional hit by hit with the boss health. It doesn't get better than that. Only thing I can say is that if you miss the mouth shots he'll be low in health but it won't be enough. Every cycle Del Lago regenerates his health. 2nd cycle being 882 no matter how low his health was in 1st cycle.

I can't do it. I've tried it like 1o times now, and I just can't get it done. I'm losing my mind. This is only on hardcore mode as I want to unlock the armor for Ashley before I even attempt professional mode. Any tips on how I might be able to get it?

So, I find during the first cycle holding one direction helps with aiming. However, getting first cycle can be difficult. He has 2/3s of his max health on every cycle after the first. Even just focusing on survival eventually he will die to an in-game timer. Hopefully that helps, he can be very tricky

Hypothetically speaking, if I didn’t throw any harpoons and he goes through 3 cycles, will his hit points drop to the 200ish level? I just want to beat him. And was wondering if I just focus on not taking damage, if i could then kill him at the end. I wonder if there is a 4th cycle or if he just dies of exhaustion.

So, iirc, if you don't kill Del Lago after a certain point he just keeps going for the QTE one shot, and then resets his health for that phase which would be 882

Yeah, he can be a pain. Best thing to do other than save before hand is to hold on to one direction and aiming for the largest surface area. Although, sometimes Leon likes to throw any where for no reason lol.

Hi, first of all, great video! Second, would you be able to explain in more detail as to why 60 fps is advantageous over a higher one? Aside from being able to see him come out of the dive a little earlier (even then, I listen for his roar and throw it half way through, always hits the mouth). I'm curious as to where all of this information is found and saved, if there's maybe some sort of speedrunner archive of info, techs, and skips out there. EDIT: I see that in a previous comment, you mentioned that he swims slower at 60 fps, allowing two more shots to get in. Interesting. Would you be able to help me understand where I can find more tech, speedrunning tricks and hidden mechanics in this game?

How much health does it regenerate in professional mode? I can only run the game at 20FPS and I don't aim well. I'm curious how many I'm supposed to hit per cycle to make progress.

So, no matter how low you get it's health it will go from whatever it's last known hp to 882. Now, the 2nd cycle is awful because the cycle gives you less time to get through that hp. In 3rd cycle it raises to 224. All shots do 60 damage except for mouth shots that do 100ish

@@gbBakuryu The starting health is around 1200. Second cycle it goes from whatever you left him with on 1st cycle to 882hp. Third cycle he goes to 224 HP. I've never seen 4th, my guess is that if you don't kill on 3rd cycle you die.

The first cycle ends after he tries to swallow you whole. Not my words that's all Leon. When it comes to throwing the harpoon it basically is a cadence. I usually alternate between right and left click in order to pull it off

I only play on professional lol, but also Del Lago goes from whatever health to 882 when he goes into his 2nd cycle. So, technically you can fight him all day 😂

This boss is killing me, doing a challenge where i only have one save past the cabin section and go in NO DEATHS or else i start over just outside the cabin.. hes killed my run 4 times now and i swear im getting fed up with him. I usually smoke him but he keeps doing these unpredictable jump attacks and i cant find out which way to move out of the way

That's the tricky part, if you miss a mouth shot on that segment you'll take damage automatically. Which sucks because the actual hitbox for his mouth is super small.

I noticed that a normal hit always drops 60hp while a hit in the mouth drops 90hp. But how come the hits at 0:32(451-374) and 0:46(314-237) each dropped 77hp? Does it mean there are some weak points on its body?

So, that is what we call a "charged shot" when you hold the first action button long enough it can do slightly more damage. It's kind of hard to pull off though. Usually he dies in the same amount of time anyway. Although, there is way to kill him in 7 shots, but it requires you to do a ton of math throughout the run and be 100% perfect xD

@@VynxxgamingDel Lago takes so many harpoons for me😅 Also the adjusted difficulty seems to play a big role for this fight aswell. For example the difficulty is on a scale from like 1-15. Professional being 11-15. Hardcore being 6-11. Normal being 3-5 And assisted 1-3. It's something very close to that. So depending how well you do up until Del Lago, the difficulty will adjust itself accordingly. On my first Hardcore playthrough, the Del Lago seemed to not need many harpoons to die. But on my second one, the fight felt twice as long and Del Lago needed more hits to kill.

@@cosmicbilly actually yeah kind of! On Professional difficulty there is a way to manipulate your DA (difficulty assessment), but can only be done with double input using a keyboard and gamepad. You can trick the game into thinking you're on assisted mode and kill Del Lago in just 7 hits.

This part is the hardest one for me on pro run since I can use a rocket with saddler and Ramon Salazar the regenerators is not hard for me since you can use the bio scope and can always run away and coming back to them just walking slowly until the notice you again but I’m going for the infinity launcher so I can at least get the Chicago sweeper and have fun with infinity amo on it 😂

Yeah! Honestly, Del Lago can be a real pain in the ass. I remember spending so much time on him my first playthrough, yet now I've got it down in muscle memory. I really do feel like they could have had a better way of dealing with him, but I much prefer this version over the original. RNG is usually lame imo

Hell yeah man! Honestly, I think I was just baffled that the 1 cycle was a minute long, and decided at that point that was going to be the length of the video. The game doesn't outright tell you what some of the mechanics are like how he regenerates health after each cycle. Only way to tell that is using a cheat engine or SRT.

That's just the laser color. You can change that in settings. It changes nothing. However, you can hold down a direction and get a good cadence on your hits. When it comes to the quick shot it's all about button presses which takes practice

Depending on the difficulty and your Difficulty Assessment score you can kill him faster. On Professional, the fastest you can kill Del Lago is 7 hits. While on Assisted with the same DA manipulation you can beat in just 3 hits. It's hilarious

After finally getting the pro s+ run, I refuse to play another pro run simply because of this shir right here. I barely got it at 5 hr 20 mins, and at least 45 mins of it was spent on just this fight. Straight cancer. Thanks for the tips! But I'll stick to fun hardcore runs. Idk how much lower his health is on hardcore. But it seems more reasonable.

I'm not good enough at this game to just go through more pro runs than is necessary. Honestly, I just lucked out of getting s+, and used every trick I know of. It wasn't even fun at all. Felt like a big chore. I'm now just truly enjoying the game. Imagine that! 😂

You probably already know this but I just figure I leave this for anyone else struggling with ranks. The key to getting good completion time is not pressing continue to load the last autosave, because it stacks the time you wasted each death. Load save instead. Definitely keep a manual save after fish farm but before fueling the boat. It's worth the small trip back to the cave merchant.

Everyone keeps crying about this section, and I’m thinking they just don’t know how to play it. Lagos NEVER hits you if you MOVE your boat to the right. You know how you can move side to side to avoid the floating debris? Literally just hold the thumbstick to the right and the boss never hits you. Make sure you hit his mouth when you’re sitting still (which the game gives PLENTY of time, even on professional) and be sure to avoid floaters if you see you’re heading toward one. Incredibly easy. Try it out.

IMO this is very poorly designed, the devs nerf things right away that help the player but won't nerf the fish. Just from a gameplay perspective it should not take to many hits to defeat the boss. The headshots are too much damage and body shot not enough. It's not balanced enough for one cycle. Very poorly designed boss fight. In other words if you get every possible body shot (don't miss) and get him in the mouth while he comes at you that should finished the fight. But nope, these idiot devs decided that wasn't enough. Very poorly done. Absolutely the worst part of a remake that is basically a masterpiece (this is my 4th run and I'm doing it on professional). Is there any working glitch to get past this (just need the chicago sweeper)?

I have just done this on PS5 on Proffessional difficulty. Took about 8 attempts. From my 7th attempt I listened to the tip from this video; whenever you are not dodging debris by holding left or right, just keep holding the left stick right. This means Del Lago misses you every time it jumps out of the water at you. I didn't get it in first phase, but I kept enough health to kill it in the second phase. Real pain in the arse though.
