I still don’t get it someone else figured out how to use the PlayStation features to find out that the person walking on the road is actually Ethan and his entire player model but still we don’t get that ending. Is it truly Ethan or did they just use his player model to make the man walking at the road at the very end of the game.
Not sure why they won't show his face. It's not like players are either identifying with him so that the reveal would break the illusion, or everyone is just banging on the gates of Capcom HQ demanding to know what he looks like. Seems just kind of weird.
Actually, I think the man who approaches Rose at the graveyard is Ethan Winters. Must be he was resurrected after he died during the battle with Mother Miranda.
Except when Rose is at the graveyard, I think the man who approaches her is Ethan Winters even though he died after the battle with Mother Miranda. Must be he was resurrected after his death.
This actually broke my heart. Even if Ethan wasn't there for Rosemary when she was growing up, he was still there when Miranda tried to take Rose again.
I like the whole theme for this DLC is about self-acceptance and conquering fears. Explains much of how Rose seems so confident in her abilities and accepted Ethan's passing in Village's ending
When I first saw it I was like damn, she only knew her dad as a baby, but even just a baby she still loved him unconditionally and completely just like he did for her without even knowing it... But she did know... She knew exactly who her Dad was.... And I'm tearing up..
and maybe the person walking at the distance in the ending is indeed ethan. cause he said 'i had to find a way out'? and maybe he made it, and finally got his way out. explains why the car stopped at the last seconds of the ending. this dlc explains both mysteries
@@tomvandeklok1376 lota people did thought it was the sniper though we can't be sure. Plus Ethan did wore the same dark clothing. Although some people when they clipped through the game the character was using the same character model as Ethan
@@tomvandeklok1376 the car brakes near him and a lot of ppl ripped the model and it was ethans. Its possible hes alive somehow but we wont know without official sources
I don't mind this story being exactly as it is as long as the next game is completely different again. They played the fantasy aspect into it very well since its not the real world and there hasn't been a hallucinogenic in the Re world until now. It's a cool change of pace that can open up crazy new editions but it shouldn't be abused at all.
fr i hated resident evil but 7 had me hooked because of just how different it was from the rest of the series. I hate FPS hardcore shoot em dead apocolypse games, but 7 just had a different vibe that kept me glued. This sense of overwhelming mystery that the Baker house was just constantly drenched in kept my attention. I hope they keep trying new things and new ways to tell a story.
@@riokamishiroakameragkastle3077 A virus. But not a biological virus. A highly-intelligent and sapient NANO-virus that infects & combines with its its hosts, transforming them into mangled-up, cybernetic bioweapon drones and "extensions" of itself. Can "infect" and control regular tech like phones, computers, tvs, electronics and vehicles too. So something akin Junji Ito's Gyo, the 90's action-horror flick: VIRUS, or whatever was going on in Heisenberg's factory.
Remember everyone rose has not seen her father face since she was baby ,so I think that's why the game tries it's hardest to hide his face in these moments...
You do realize that you can’t see his face in the third person mode right? They even specifically said that anytime you try to see his face in 3rd person, he looks away.
I think it’s more of keeping Ethan as a faceless protagonist, kind of like master chief. Plus surely there were pictures of Ethan that rose could’ve looked at too.
@@KoltVEVO Well obviously he isn’t literally faceless, though it would be funny if they made a full model with a completely smooth face. It’s just a comparison to give why (at least what I believe) they choose to not show ethan’s face in the game.
idk why the people misunderstand this event of rose getting op, you forget about alexia ashford? wesker? or even manuela? these virus perform the human habilities to unimaginable ways, thats why the umbrella works hard to get these result as well on their experiments.
@@briggsgametime i hope not. i've never liked it when games that are fairly linear do a open world sequel. i didn't mind village because only part of it was remotely open world.
Honestly, Ethan and Chris probably wouldn't have survived if Rose had drained her power. I mean if this DLC showed how strong Miranda was at her peak, I'm pretty sure Ethan in his condition wouldn't have survived that long. Which honestly does show that even at that stage. Ethan still fought to save rose
So ... Leon --> Suplex Chris --> Boulder punching Jill --> Master of unlocking Ada --> Spy gadgets Rose --> Hadouken Hunk --> Infinite Ammo Wesker --> Speed attack with sick transformation Claire --> ... We all feel bad for Claire
I love the fact the game show us actually Miranda and Ethan live inside Rose, but then Ethan help her to destroy the rest of Miranda and let her leave by her own way, living Ethan to live in peace knowing his daughter is safe now
He just so relatable as a human being even though he physically isn't but still a dad caring for his daughter plain and simple. Not someone trying to save the world or anything over the top.
The way all of the gameplay mechanics integrated into the gameplay and story was basically perfection. They also took pre-existing gameplay designs and made them interesting (the mannequins, the hide and seek sections, arranging the dolls to uncover more about Rose).
You know... it's crazy, Rose is 16 here. The timeline is 2037, so Chris is 64 years old. Fucking hell! I really hope Claire continued the Redfield bloodline! LOL
@@outdoorscholar6016 The bloodline ends when females are born That's the whole point of maternity, to continue the body despite not having the means to replicate blood In fact that's the point of periods, flushing unfertilized eggs and preventing the mind from keeping negative reinforcement
Similar to Las Plagas, the Mold (Megamycete) used Miranda as a vessel to spread its influence and wants Rose to be the next vessel of its power. In the Attack of Titan context, the Titans existed because of a Hallucinogen organism's desire to live and expand its influence (multiplying similar to how cells and humans multiply in the world). In other words, Las Plagas, Megamycete, and the Progenitor manipulated those they infect as hosts to spread their influence and dominate nature. These organisms in Resident Evil are the embodiment of a will to grow and dominate. Resident Evil symbolizes evil residing in an environment and human host through infection and the multiplication of organisms via zombie mutants.
What if Ethan could still be a key player later on? Perhaps he’s still alive within the collective of the megamycite, it manipulating him with waves of enemies and hallucinations of his daughter constantly being in danger, injured or killed because he couldn’t do enough. Perpetuating his necessity to protect his daughter. Perhaps he could now be connected to her via his ring and she can talk to him, instead of just him being an illusion. He slowly starts getting more control of the megamycite and begins to develop the ability to traverse the real world. Doing anything he can to protect his daughter, and anyone who gets in his way is seen as the monsters he’s faced in the past in his eyes.
so, essentially, it would fall down the tragic path of his mental state within deteriorating, he sees more and more a threat to her, and eventually becomes a threat himself, not realizing it.
@@theimortal1974 Technically officially. Ethan has had a face model since RE7 you can see a glimpse of it when fighting Evaline and she throws him out the window. People just went in the files. He has the same face in 8. He really does just look like "some dude" & I adore them for that.
It's so sad that in the megamycite's memory will always be stored "Ethan will always protect Rose from biggest danger, Miranda" like,... it was the only scenario Rose can meet her dad, through her fight with Miranda.
A heroic, self-sacrificing Father Figure in a piece of modern media??? I must be hallucinating! But serious, Ethan "Michael" Winters played such an incredible part to this DLC. Constant chills down my spine from the moment he arrived (in person), leading up to the Final Boss. To be honest, my attitude toward him was rather indifferent before this, but afterward, he skyrocketed to one of the most respectable Characters in Resident Evildom. Also, it is wonderful to see Resident Evil go completely fucking insane again. You all thought it was over after 6, that they were "returning to their roots", forgetting that Resident Evil has always been ridiculous, and should remain that way. That over-the-top nonsense didn't go anywhere. It was simply slumbering.
idk, maybe capcom should push diversity & equality next time around and makes powerful women & mothers in resident evil? eventhough, i would prefer to see the cute tofu , leon and ada once again💖
@@michelleririn5075there's already strong female characters in the series, and the father trope in video games will never get old, from kratos to Joel it's such a good trope
The dlc ending got me a little disappointed but was worth the wait that Ethan was an illusion after his death seen in the car scene but why explain the story of re 8 ending again .
Context for Rose. She probably lost it with all of her emotional struggles. Her father and want he did for his family, strengthen her resolve for her to accept what she is.
To simply connect the story and explain about the ring that she's wearing and the words she said about the things she can do now that even Chris wouldn't imagine.
@@youngthinker1 Michael the angel is know for restoring memories and helping those in need gain strength to overcoming fears. The #3 is reoccurring and that can represent past present future. We got all tenses in the dlc
Miranda being alive was no surprise. She merged with the Megamycete at the end of Village, we all saw that. In order to kill her required destroying ALL of the Megamycete. If you leave even a small piece of it intact, it's sufficient for Miranda to survive within it. This is no different than why we got to see Eveline again. The Mutamycete in RE7 is just a small sample of the Megamycete in Village, so when all of it was destroyed in Dulvey Louisiana, Evenline merely became one with the Megamycete.
Think of an environment created by an evil woman that uses darken versions of good people. That's the whole DLC. Countess victims apart of the big mold thing. Like how re7 you talk to the real Jack. Crazy mold thing
@@straightouttagaming3110 Not necessarily an illusion, more like a stored memory she exploited, turning him into a mere tool. Kinda like the roses she kept creating, she was constantly trying to create new roses to match the real roses actual power but it kept failing. Duke was essentially miranda guard within the megamycete memories. If he was an illusion he wouldn't have been able to manipulate the environment of the castle he was in, he wouldn't have been able to summon those... just gonna call them mold zombies nor would he have been able to teleport rose into an arena to fight of more of those things, he'd just be a mere distraction, illusions can't manipulate anything because they are not real. Memories however are real, they exist because they once happened and are stored in the users mind, its an existing memory. Illusions however do not exist, just like the illusion miranda implanted on rose to make her think she was talking to some guy named K at the start of the game who was never there to begin with.
I’M NOT CRYING- But genuinely, excellent ending choice, and the themes with Ethan showing up in the form of light, and the fact that Ethan’s face isn’t shown both fits in terms of… well, him being faceless, but also in the fact that Rose… she wouldn’t remember his face, so having him be faceless kind of fits that way too, if you wanna think about it that way.
With this ending I can see the potential of Rose using her mold powers to resurrect re 7 and 8 villains to fight for good. She must be the key to defeating wesker's schemes in future stories of RE.
I was thinking how maybe Rose could bring back Lady Dimitrescu and Heisenberg to redeem their redemption but probably not, might be a cool concept though.
literally forgetting about the giant ass snake boss in RE1, or the gigantic spiders in RE1, or the Tyrant in RE1, or the lickers in RE2, or Birkin, or motherfucking NEMESIS. STFU. RE has always had crazy stuff since the beginning.
So... when Ethan made sure that he'd blow up alongside the megamycete to finish this once and for all, how come the explosion didn't destroy the fungal root and the Black God is still alive? He sacrificed himself for nothing?
@@GenocidalSquid I get it, but I'm guessing the berserk got bigger the more people it absorbed. How can all of this be happening inside just a branch? What is the point of blowing the whole thing up if all these memories can live on inside a teeny tiny sample?
@@bryanlovesyou Blowing it up prevented the megamycete from being used to create mold elsewhere. It's in the hands of Chris Redfield, and aside from mold-infected people in the "real world," the branch can't affect anyone just sitting as it is. Since Rose was born of a mold-infected person, the branch could affect her. I kinda wish Eveline had been "killed" within the megamycete realm so that she wouldn't be a problem as well, though. She's the only other entity with enough understanding of her predicament to potentially be a problem by influencing Rose's mind. My take on things is that Miranda's consciousness became diluted and lacking focus (a melted mess of other consciousnesses, unable to take on its own persona). The notes by Miranda seemed to indicate such. Anywho, Ethan's sacrifice saved everyone *physically* from the megamycete. Psychically, on the other hand...that's a different story.
My head cannon is that Ethan in death, for the last 16 years, has just been running and gunning throughout the Mutamycete’s consciousness, killing Miranda and her forces over and over again, like in Mercenaries.
I find it weird how they still didn't explain who the character was in the distance walking towards the vehicle in the last scene. Yeah I know if you use mods you can see it's Ethan. But they said this DLC is the end of the Winters story so they won't do anything with that scene in RE9.
It's most definitely Ethan, either only rose can see him or he's physically manifested into the world also rose will probably reappear in like re10 or something
Is it just me or is the ending scene longer this time? I don’t remember it showing the truck come to a complete stop for that long before, seems like it was made longer to emphasize that the stranger walking up is indeed Ethan
i don't know. someone should do a scene by scene comparison showing the post credit scene from the base game running along side the ending to shadows of rose at the instant she is on the bus.
@@doomdude69 I don't want the same thing over and over I just want Capcom to understand why resident evil was good in the first place. It was the backtracking puzzle solving with resource management and from what I've seen of this dlc you can use your psychic powers to freeze enemies in place which makes you not have to worry about any encounter
It was too obvious mostly because of ending cutscene where we see someone walking to the car it was plan from start but regardless of that it was nice to see character development
i was a bit surprised. when michael lead rose to a trap by the duke i thought there was going to be a twist that michael was not on her side all along.
My confirmation that it who Michael really was is when in the castle "michael" tells rose about the secret passage behind the fire place only 2 people would know dimitrescu and ethan
I think it was pretty good. Not great, as it didn't really answer any questions, but at least the gameolay was pretty good. Just a bit of a chaotic story
Just beat this DLC today. It actually made me tear up a little seeing how devoted Ethan is to Rose even in death. Also that final boss fight against Miranda had some Dark Souls vibes to it. Wasn't expecting that at all.
@@strideredz I dig it's different people, but how did the sniper get in position when they _just_ found her? She took the bus there so he didn't drop her off.

i wonder if this is them finally giving up on trying to explain every monstrous thing in a scientific way for the next game. I found the megamycete stuff cool but I remember seeing a lot of people wish theyd just let themselves do magic and monsters
It's pretty clear by now they're going to take the "incomprehensible" Lovecraftian alien route to explain the origin of the megamycete, plagas and virus strains & call it a day.

Spencer with his big dreams want something far more manageable for his future pharma company, which is why they use the T-Virus and the Progenitor for their research. The Viruses produce *repeatable results*. The Mold does not. All of the Mold's best recipients develops supernatural powers instead- Umbrella wants to sell the Virus publically as a cure, not mutant powers. Basically, Spencer wants a money making machine while Miranda wants her daughter back. Rose is like a magician now that can summons roots. Resident evil is becoming a MMORPG game now.
