If it's not enough that Chris can't play Moonlight Sonata or make the V-Jolt watching him try to kill Plant 42 with a knife really carries home how much of a caveman he is.
The run can be made much easier by just letting Richard (the snake bite guy) die. If you let him die you don’t have to fight plant 42 toe to toe, as you will make the plant killer instead while playing as Rebecca. The only benefit to saving Richard (besides achievements) is his shotgun, which we obviously don’t need for the knife only run
@@JoaoPauloGQ It didn’t happen to me, but I read somewhere that Rebecca’s actions DO count against the achievement so you’re better off not getting bitten by Yawn. Just save beforehand and keep resetting until you don’t get bitten. But it’s entirely possible to get the achievement _and_ get the best ending. I did it. If you already got the infinite rocket launcher before doing the achievement, you, CAN use it in the fight with Tyrant at the heliport. See, the game differentiates between events that are counted as “in-game” actions, and events that are counted as “cutscenes”. Shooting an enemy or burning a downed zombie are considered “in-game” actions and will count against you. Using V-Jolt on Plant 42 and firing the rocket launcher at Tyrant are considered “cutscenes” and don’t count against the player. The game treats infinite rocket launcher at the heliport no differently than it does the rocket launcher Brad drops from the helicopter. So you can do the entire game using just the knife and _still_ bring the infinite rocket launcher to the final fight because the game won’t count it against you.
ADVICE: Watch the speedrun video, take notes to help you remember the routes, take notes of the items i carry aswell in order to prevent going back to the box and wasting time.

Shirrako No, actually the trophy description is quite vague. It only states "complete the game using only the knife" which does not mention that even stomping on zombie heads (no idea why they decided to disallow this, as it's not even a voluntary choice) isn't allowed, and since defense items are not regular weapons, it would be somewhat ambiguous without confirming this. For years REmake fans have debated whether or not "knife-only runs" were done properly with defense items, with arguments for and against. I guess Capcom finally settled it now. Although I'm puzzled why they choose to make stomping zombie heads invalidate the achievement (probably some intrinsic ammo counter that counted a stomp as a use of ammo, and that would be very difficult to alter without radically altering some script(s) in the game).
John G The description says Finish the game using only your knife (no lighter, Defensive Items, and stomping zombie heads).which gives you all the information regarding the trophy except burning corpses which has been discovered by Blorp.
Shirrako hold on a sec arent u supposed to fight tyrant 1 more time before the helicopter shows up at the heliport before u escape i thought u have to kill him there with the rocket launcher does that effect the knife trophy?
Blorp Weatherby using the rocket launcher on the last boss doesn't count as using ammo got this trophy and used it as it was my only option to do so as had saved Rebecca :D

Just got this trophy, and with that, the Platinum Trophy. A word of advice for anyone out there trying to get this trophy: when you find Rebecca and Richard and you have to go get the serum and give it to Richard, just don't do it and let him die. You won't get his Assault Shotgun but who cares since you can't even use guns if you want this trophy, and also when you go against Plant 42, Rebecca will come and help you, you'll get to use her, make V-Jolt and use it on the root of the plant, you'll still have to kill the plant with Chris but the fight will be a lot easier, because the plant will be weakened.
Im thinking about using Rebecca to make the V-JOLT but if i accidentally use her handgun during the time I’m taking control of her will it negate the trophy ?
@@aaronfletcher3785 yeah re puzzles are all too easy. i played the original silent hill long after playing all the re games and the puzzles in that game were ridiculously hard compared to re.
People don't make the same mistake I did, if you want the rocket launcher and/or the samurai edge you need to complete the in under 3 hours in AT LEAST NORMAL DIFFICULTY!
This is insane. I got the game free on PS Plus and I was gonna go for platinum, and then I saw some of the harder trophies Finish the game with only the knife; finish the game in under 3 hours; finish the game without saving. Mad props for finishing the game in under 3 hours using just the knife
I am currently testing ways to pause the timer in this game on PS5! Currently, it SEEMS like if you press the home button and switch to a low demand media app (Example: RU-vid), it puts the game in a suspended mode that basically pauses the game all together so that the game can stay in the background to quickly restart where you left off. In about half an hour to an hour, I will confirm or deny these results with answers by testing this with a completion of the game as is, just going to the home page of the PS5, and then trying to do the media app method. Quick side note, I used this exact video to get me the CQC FTW, Don’t Stop Running, and Racing and Pacing trophies all together about two and a half years ago and I deeply appreciate this creator for helping me get these trophies.
UPDATE!! Method 1: Control, no methods involved, just completing it when I can = 2:38:51 Method 2: Dashboard Only + 10 minutes of idle time = 2:49:02 Method 3: Dashboard to Media App + 10 minutes of idle time = 2:38:56!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not plan on testing the rest mode method as this is a far more efficient way of pausing the timer. If anyone has questions, please reply to this comment If you are playing this one PS5 and want to pause the timer, dashboard to RU-vid!!! It 100% works!!!!! Holy crap I feel like I just made a huge discovery!!!

I only came here to learn how to deal with the crimson heads everywhere when I'm low on ammo I was so dumb I killed every zombie everywhere I go b4 the crimson head spawns n now I'm low and ammo and fucked lol
Good video. Word of advice, you really ought to practice running past zombies, they catch you off guard a lot. Wall hug more often and you'd be surprised how effective it is. Keep it up!
Here is how I did it. I had the samurais edge but put it in the item box and got my knife,didn't save Richard, used Rebecca to make the v jolt defeated the plant with the knife, didn't save Rebecca from the hunter, lisa hit wesker off the edge but still got the achievement lol at the end used the flare and got the achievement at the time ending I finished the game at 3:30
What difficulty was this played on? I'm guessing Easy, or even Very Easy, since you can take a lot of hits even from bosses, before needing a heal. And there were no zombies in the mansion graveyard, where in Normal should be one zombie and on hard two.
Ryosuke1208 No, they aren't. There are no zombies in the graveyard, and there was only one zombie in the corridor where you get the arrow. There should be two in the graveyard and two in the corridor.
I was actually a bit confused when I saw the description of the CQC FTW achievement because it also said "no lighter". But you had to use the Lighter in the attic room to be able to grab the music sheet. So I guess that's the only exception where you simply have to use the Lighter. But I know incinerating zombie corpses with the Fuel Canteen is still forbidden.
If I were to attempt this I'd be as crafty about it as possible. The achievement doesn't specify you have to play on the hardest difficulty, so I'd set it on easy. I wouldn't concern myself with time/saves/ or use of first aid sprays as this can be achieved easiest with disregards to any other achievements. Lastly you don't have to save anyone so no final boss battle with the Tyrant. Good job!
Is there any actual difference between the Slim STARS Chris and the Ripped Big BSAA Chris? It seems to me that the Chris in this video moves so fast though
McRomR None at all, it is only cosmetic. The only deceptive thing about the costume is that Chris’s hitbox stays the same, even though his model is clearly larger with the BSAA alternate costume.
I remember when it was looking like Minecraft, and it being terrifying! When the remake on gamecube version was relaeased, all i wanted to do, was go looking for green herbs in real life just to calm me down!
xbnj when youre going for the knife trophy when tyrant attacks u on the heliport do u have to attack him to get the rocket launcher to come down or can u stay out his way til it arrives and i take it u have to kill him with it am i right?
ZeVio74 It's because you didn't get the serum to Richard in time. If he dies, you don't get his shotgun, but you do get to have an easier fight against the plant by taking control of Rebecca and making V-Jolt. Likewise, if you get the serum in time before he dies, you do get his shotgun later, but the plant has more HP AND you DON'T get to play as Rebecca. Hope that helped. Sorry for late response
@@Rpgist359 i didn't know that. i thought it had something to do with telling her yes or no to practice the piano. pretty sure there was a different dialog in the original re and you could have her stay in the mansion or move to the plant 42 area, thought it was similar in this game.
i know this is like a year too late but yes you can save in between as that is what i did and still made it back in time. not too sure but it may be an in game timer that determines when he dies or perhaps even how many doors you go through.
Attempted this twice while doing the no saving achievement; was one-hit by hunters at full health, while i was heading to the underground mines, both times

My favorite Dark Souls OST uploader plays RE as well! I have a question because every time I skip towards the Yawn boss fight (where you actually have to fight it to get the Wolf Medal) my video gets stuck. How did you beat that thing with only a knife? I know you can skip Tyrant completely so I'm not too worried about it but how did you take on Yawn with just the knife?
Oh and I'm going to do the knife run as Jill because I don't wanna deal with the hassle of the Old Keys but if I were to play as Chris, would I have to fight Plant 42 in order to get the Helmet Key or can I just swoop into the fireplace and grab the thing and ditch like Speedy Gonzalez?
DeathclawAlphaMale You have to kill it either way to get the key cause when you're fighting it, it doesn't appear in the fireplace. At least from my experience anyway. I'm more interested in if using the V-Jolt counts against you in the knife run.
DeathclawAlphaMale You can't you have to defeat the plant using the knife, it isn't as hard as it seems, you just have to find a proper strategy and place yourself at the correct locations to cut all the plant's tentacles.
Ryosuke1208 Already did! But thanks anyways! I went and cooked up the V-Jolt and poured it on the plant's roots down in the aqua ring instead. I figured it'd take just about the same amount of time so screw it. I went ahead and did it.
DeathclawAlphaMale Just an fyi using the V-Jolt doesn't go against the achievement/trophy. As I did the V-Jolt when doing the knife run as Jill and it didn't count against me.

2024 and i just use this excellent guide to get this achiev with chris (mind the backtrack of him on lisa cave since he forgot to get the box and had to come back)
When you fight the giant plant, do you have to do it like that with Knife to make the achievement or can you do it the other way with the chemical VJOLT?

After getting dog whistle, cutting across the main hall, and into top floor of dining room, did you go into the other door on purpose or was that a mistake?
question i seen in the video you used the lighter only once(to light the candle for the door to open to get the music notes) is that the only time? I know in the game it is advichment to get the second floor map to light the fire place but will that count against the knife only run
I couldn't do both trophies at the same time because I started up a game with the suicide bombing zombie and he got annoying. He leaves mid game but the beginning is hectic being chased every room on the 2nd floor.
You'll get the trophy at any difficulty but not the special guns, therefore you won't get the starsenal trophy which means you would have to so another run. ( Normal minimum to get guns )
I know you can't pause the game and the time won't stop to complete it in 3 hours, but what if I have the game running still and be on the home screen, does that stop the time?
Looked into this speedrun just to find out how on earth you do CQC FTW while dealing with the Chimeras + Battery and like- You just fucking walk and sometimes run hoping RNGesus is on your side huh-
noob question: how can u push him without any problem, i mean, once u get trapped by a zombie he will bite u if u dont have daggers and granades etc, im playing on ps3 ( it does not matter at all ) i only need to know wat button i must press when it happens, is it the attack button or just the 1 u have to press to use the dagger,
