Nathan B i dont think there's a problem with the over the shoulder camera it can still have the same tension and atmoshphere and dont forget its made by fans so its not gonna be a triple A title or something like that but i have to say for a fanmade game it looks great..

Evil Within had limited ammo, also I beat RE3 and Veronica, when i was a kid, so I guess kids these days could do it, unless its stupid COD kids who spams 10 bullets on one enemy.
+Mrgloworm23 Right. I can't remember exactly what I disliked from this review and can't watch it now. Probably they must have listed tank controls and backtracking as 'negative' points. I remember IGN reviewed SH Downpour stating it was just plain BAD. Not mediocre, not average. BAD. However I don't know a single person that agrees with such ludicrous review.
it might have been the clipping, cos he liked the tank controls. Ive never played Downpour so I cant really judge, people should understand that Ign is only the machine that regulates the reviews and gains profit from them, there are many different reviewers and all differ in opinions so you should try and come at each review pretty open minded, there not all done by the same person. people seem extremely vitriolic about ign because they have been burnt in the past when its mostly someone completely different who had nothing to do with the last "bullshit" score.

Games don't start at a 10 and then go down because of flaws. Sometimes a game can not have any significant issues and still just not be good enough to get a higher score.
I remember beating the original 3 on ps1 when I was younger. The first zombie on re1, the first encounter with the licker on re2 and nemesis on re3. The good ol' days....
There is something about the setting of this game that makes it timeless. You are trapped in a creepy mansion on a stormy night. Everything from the music to the slow pacing of the gameplay make it a unique experience. Even if Capcom go back to this type of RE games they will never have a setting and a feel as good as the original. Considering it was released on the PSX it is truly a landmark game.
One of my most anticipated games this year, maybe the sales from this game and the consumer feedback will show Capcom that a RE2/3 REmake should happen.
One of the main differences in the ambience of the gamecube remake of the game was that it still had pre-rendered 2-D backgrounds textures, but it also had some 3-D models as well, which the original game lacked. Still, for a game that was released in 2002, its visual qualities were pretty impressive.

So happy to see an HD remake of this game on the current gen systems! This is one of my all time favorite video games and is still fun 15 years later! It began the survival horror genre and many games to come. I also love the addition of the Gamecube version crimson heads, it adds a very dangerous element to the game.
I don't understand why Capcom just doesn't remake these games from scratch using RE6s gameplay mechanics. I agree RE6 was garbage but you cant deny its third person gameplay mechanics weren't the pinnacle of the RE series. Actually being able to move and shoot but still with a penalty to your aiming makes way more sense than the old fashioned stop and shoot. I've been playing RE since the first game and I loved it way back when for PS1. But as gaming has grown and evolved since then I prefer a more realistic style to my horror games and being able to dive out the way in RE6 was an awesome bonus. Its not completely necessary but it was awesome nonetheless. I just want Capcom to make a RE 1-3 collection using today's modern graphics and RE6's modern, smoother, better controls. This is the same reason why I hate first person survival horror where you cant fight back. (Amnesia, Outlast) It makes no fucking sense. I'm sure they're great games but its like every character you play as has the intelligence level of a 4 year old.
60fps can ruin some games "gameplay" im sure they tested out 60 frames per second. but i can tell you right now that would hinder the gameplay on a resident evil game.
personally im fine and dandy with 30 frames a second we dont NEED 60 frames...idk why thats such a big deal nowadays.. shit 007 golden eye ran at around 21 fps and i loved the gameplay!!! still to this day. if they changed the fps, it would NOT be the same game.
Favourite resident evil game of all time, the Spencer mansion is just incredible and so nostalgic to walk around everything from Lisa Trevor to the lab is just simply fantastic!
Who would love to see an actual rebuild/remake using the RE2 and 3 engine?? Then we could have the conplete trilogy in a single gameplay style. Maybe have RE be full price with a RE0 DLC?? I love both 2 and 3 remakes (even if I beat 3 in a single sitting) I can dream
I've beaten this game so many times. I know it like the back of my hand. I have it on Gamecube and Wii. And an 8? it's the same as the original just with updated textures. RE remake is a masterpiece and it's a 10 no doubt about that at all. They should of gotten someone else to review this.
Why does no one comment on the added jiggle physics ?!?!?! ANYONE !!! Next gen boob physics now in a 19 year old game, I don't know if gamecube was just as fleshed out but since I've never played the original resident evil I'm excited for tomorrow. At the time of the release I was to young to play it, and I didn't get interested in resident evil till it first came out on Xbox 360. I didn't own a Gamecube either.
Damn bro crimson heads were not in the original! An 8? Judge this game based on what it is, a classic title, which would be considered something like a 360 arcade title by todays standards! You guys suck at reviews... that aside it's good to see a new generation of gamers can easily access this game now! It's a masterpiece and stands as my favorite in the entire series and the survival horror genre. I'm hoping that this sells very well and Capcom makes the move to REmake RE2! Classic RE fans have been begging them for years! For now though, it's good to be back in the Spencer mansion! It's amazing how much i've forgotten over the years, i used to know exactly where to go but now i find myself trying to open locked doors, it's awesome all over again!
every day i hear people bitch about capcom doing this port, people say remake RE2 the originals been done to death. While im all for a RE2 remake as well, this game is the one that started a genre not just a series. This is one of the most important and influential games of all time, so of it should be put out to a new generation

Many of you may not know this but their was a DS version as well and that was probably the first time I ever played Resident Evil. It even had the same controls as PlayStation with few touch screen things here and there.

Honestly this remake was great 80 years ago, and when i take out my wii and play the gamecube disc game, it still looks good. You wanna know what doesn't look good? It's a 2002 remake of a game from 1996 and for £15 download it'll still probably end up being one of the best and most satisfying games of the year compared to all the half-finished DLC delivery systems we're expected to pay £40 for these days (+£20 season pass and 9gb patch before its halfway playable)
Capcom should have gone for the over-the-shoulder third person view OR at least made it optional to switch between this and the fixed camera of old. A few little tweaks here and there aren't enough to make me want to revisit this.
This game is awesome, I remember playing it briefly when it came out over 10 years ago, but then I bought it on GC a few years ago to revisit it and beat it. Its too bad they never gave the remake treatment to RE2, Capcom, please get on that! Give it the remake treatment like you gave this game. Except build it from the ground up for the new consoles, guaranteed it will sell big as RE2 is arguably the best RE game ever. I honestly don't know what is up with these gaming companies not making the games fans want, Square with no FF7 remake, Capcom with no RE2 remake, Nintendo with no open world pokemon game or at the very least a 3D pokemon game on Wii U. Anyways got a bit off topic there, can't wait to play this game tonight, got it pre-loaded on my ps4!
I got the Infinite Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher here and the Samurai Edge by beating this game under 5 Hours.... the Clipping Problem that was mentioned in this video didn't even bother my game play at all.. what's wrong with the gamers this days?? we are not supposed to be looking for a 100% perfect game but for A good game that we are going to love and we are going to be entertained... If you are looking for A perfection game I suggest YOU MAKE YOUR OWN GAME.. let's see if you can make it so perfect that no gamers will complain!

Let me explain it clearly. RE1 got exclusively remade for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2002, as in a 1:1 remake with even more content (unlike RE2 2019 and RE3 2020), then after Mikami left it got ported to Nintendo Wii. So, in 2015 they grabbed that perfect remake, polished it a bit and ported it to modern systems. Quick money done right.
I get that Jose got the crimson heads wrong, but let's not rip him on it guys, maybe he never played the original and had his first experience with it on GameCube, and also never played the DS version or the psn releases of it. I think the blame here belongs to the editor staff at IGN for not catching this mistake and amending the review as such. That said, people act like IGN constantly does this, they must not read Polygon or Kotaku apparently.
Ok i love RE1-3 as much as anyone but take them Nostalgic glasses off people. Fixed camera angles in games are as bad as having cinematic view with black bars in games (Looking at you TEW). Fixed camera angles do not create a sense of fear, they frustrate you. The enemies, scenery and overall atmosphere is what makes a game scary. Now of course i bought this and i love it but i really do want to see a good 3rd person remake. They can still make it restrictive and just a difficult. The survival element would still be in full effect. As long as they maintain the atmosphere it would be a great game, especially if they remade RE2 this way.

I think the new controls make the game too easy. The same happened with Resident Evil 2 on the N64. With the new controls you could easily evade all the monsters.
Next gen is bringing back last gen games because the developers can't think of anything new. In fact, there are more new remakes than actual new games.
Now I want the next game (RE7) to be like this. You're in some huge mansion somewhere, as a new character, there are things everywhere, and someone is watching your movements through SECURITY CAMERAS. The only thing they need to fix, is the load screens. Put us in Raccoon City, 1998, as a new survivor (or two) and have us fight our way out of it with this design and RE7 would be remembered as the game that revitalized the survival horror genre by returning to its foundations. I'm pretty sure Leon, Claire, Sherry, Jill and Carlos weren't the ONLY people to escape Raccoon City. Return us to Raccoon City, Capcom!
To me, this rerelease was a pointless release on the PC. They simply overlooked the support for higher resolution like triple display monitors. I get that this game is old but that does not excuse them from selling a half assed port to the PC. Besides from few limited tweaks on the option, it did not stood out from the console so I fail to see why I should get this on the PC rather than in my PS4. I am sorry but if developers wants to play with the big boys, they need to realize that alot of us on the PC moved beyond the decade old 1080 display albeit 1440p, 5760x1080, or even 4K.
One thing i dont get the last of us remaster got a 10 same score as the original game but this gets an 8 even thought the original game got a 9 back in 2002? that dosent make any sense shouldnt this get a 9?

"The Overrated of Us" surely deserves a 10/10, it's just you people that have never really played it already rating it like you are the best reviewers ever. RE has a weak story compared to TLOU because of it's pacing. TLOU was paced great and the acting was miles and miles better than RE. TLOU has just one game and it's characters are already iconic and are up ahead with other PS Mascots. RE is a bad game IMO compared to TLOU. It doesn't have good pacing, fucking bad camera angles but it's a gosh darn old game so not really an argument, storytelling is bad. The Last of Us has a normal story, it's just that the pacing, the voice acting, the story telling is easily making it the better. Don't even start me on gameplay, RE cannot be compared to TLOU due to the fact it has decisions and a lot more puzzles than it. TLOU is an action-adventure survival-horror, while RE is just survival horror.

You said it yourself. All games had clipping issues in the past. This is a remake of a remake. In the now. There shouldn't be much of any visual issues
Now if only Capcom would give the same treatment to RE2 and RE3 and then package all three games together with RE4 HD. They can leave out RE5 and 6, though.

Actually if they do remake 2 or 3. They will have to reboot the entire series. Mikami isn't the God you might think he is. He is like the George Lucas of the gaming industry. He did help create the series, but he isn't the backbone, the writers were! Mikami's original idea was a first person shooter with demons and you having a cyborg monkey dual wielding shotguns! I swear if I hear people saying "Why didn't this remake have first person mode, or this game has to much exploration. I will blow a damn gasket. Resident evil is a totally different game from it's better version BioHazard.
