Zac -- Thanks for another great video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. A tip you might be able to use: When turning anything that uses a threaded hole/mandrel, like a bottle stopper or these bottle openers, it helps if the end of the blank is square to the drilled hole. That way, there won't be an unsightly gap where the metal part meets the blank. If you're turning a bunch of, say stoppers, mount the blank in your chuck (as you did in the video). Then, use a forstner bit to face-off the blank. Then, drill the blank as usual. (I use two Jacobs chucks, one with the forstner bit and the other with the twist drill. I just swap the chucks out.) Since the forstner bit and the regular drill bit are both mounted in the tail stock and you've never removed the blank from the headstock, the surface left by the forstner bit will be perfectly square to the drilled hole.

That finish appears to be very similar to Woodturner's finish which I love. I've sprayed 6+ coats using an airbrush, and it works out great.

From what I hear it's similar but a little different, that might just be marketing speak though. I would imagine that most waterborne finishes work similar though. Kinda reminded me of General Finishes HP too

Couple of questions: where do you get the brass inserts and what video editing software do you use? So far I haven't turned any resin pieces just because I have so much wood to turn. One of these days I'll get to resin but in the meantime, I really enjoy your videos....except for the live feeds. Too long.

You can get the brass inserts from Stainless Bottle Stoppers, it's under the accessories I believe. I use Final Cut Pro for editing. Glad to hear you're enjoying the vids, and I understand about the live streams. They aren't for everyone, but many people do enjoy the full replays. I definitely won't stop making the regular length videos though, so just keep your eyes peeled for anything that doesn't have a red dot in the title =D

How high did you sand the blank before you went to the Craft Coat?

I buy this in 54" by 50 yard rolls. In the industry it's called window perf. One other characteristic is the ratio of holes to solid. I probably throw away tons more making vehicle window graphics then you bought. 🙂

NJ Buses (ones I use to commute to work) are using this mesh for advertising. They cover whole side of the bus with it, and since it perforated allows for light to enter inside the cabin, and not make everyone claustrophobic, :-)
