Eric Stone from 2XL Powerlifting in Lombard, IL runs fantastic meets! He has a women's empowerment meet every year.

I went to his gym for a few weeks abt 18 months ago. The guy behind the desk (not the owner) would come in with his kids after picking them up from school and bully them. He was really unpleasant to be around. This isn't exactly relevant...but here we are.

I'm in love with this video, tell Joey and Dave they're real ones for this. Respect where its due, the best five RAW Wilks are all women not to mention how amazingly disciplined they are. Powerlifting and strength sports are for anyone who wants to be here.

The ONE year I won nationals - no "Best Overall Female" award that year... And - not only did I lose balance to take a knee on my squat opener (in front of Ed Coan no less), I ended the day as the first to break over a 1K total, raw, with sleeves, TESTED, and pregnant (7th female to ever break that 1k total line in the overall across geared/raw)... and the best part - now those numbers I pulled are just stepping stones in women's lifting...

I agree, in my experience coaching women and girls in basketball, most of them listen far better than most men, and will go to war for you just as much as men

Great video, I totally agree with Joey, women are often easier to coach and will give you 110% effort every time. I believe that all powerlifting federations should run a meet equally as well for women as it does for men.

Great video and insight from Joey. It's awesome to see more and more women putting up incredible lifts and there were some great examples at the Kern meet this past weekend. My rugby coach mentioned a similar thing about coaching the women's rugby team in that they listen more, are more likely to take the instruction to heart, and they push harder than most do on the men's team. I wonder if it has something to do with stereotypes and how for men powerlifting is something they might be "expected" to do, where for women, if they're powerlifting it's because they made that choice to pursue the sport and are more likely to have that drive to push it?

Could not agree more about the female mindset and dedication. I used to coach girls soccer. They all wanted to get better individually but never outside the progress of the team. The team always took priority. They feed off and help each other along the journey.

The greatest way to respect women in power lifting is to not allow men to compete 🏋‍♂️💪

Im assuming all the numbers discussed here are for multiply bc theres no woman benching 400 on IG lmao. "if not better than men" wtf dude this is supposed to be about equality. If your trying to blur the lines between impressive for women and impressive for men just stop bc all mens records are way ahead of females its not even close. Theres women squatting 700 and theres men squatting 1,100. If your point is that women should get treated like men do and get awards and recognition in their category, no fucking shit. Like are there seriously people out there arguing for not giving women awards for the sake of them being women? I find that hard to believe and this sounds a little bit like an argument cloaked in ulterior motives. If your goal is to see more women in powerlifting just for the sake of it Im not with you. I do not care who does what. If all males drop out of powerlifting and its just women, cool, if not a single other woman gets into powerlifting for the rest of the time of the universe, cool. Pushing for more women involvement just to say look more women were so inclusive is stupid.
