I think easier levels will generally be more forgotten than demon levels. Actively trying to make a level easier can hamper your creative liberty as you sacrifice potential for interesting gameplay for ease. It also doesn't help that easier difficulties tend to be filled to the brim with creator point farming slop making people less encouraged to look for and point out the actually interesting easier levels that stand out.
Facts, I find anything under demon, boring it’s always industry shlopp…. I don’t know why people make those levels, creating isn’t about, “haha I have a gazilion creator points” it’s about having fun and being creative. Not shooting out levels like you just ate Taco Bell
3:47 I think they meant levels from creators like Adiale, and the style that a lot of the early gauntlet levels use. And I agree - I remember back in the day when people (including me) HATED that style, but nowadays I really don't see any problem other than them being really similar. The levels usually had great gameplay, and their deco was nothing special but rarely looked bad. Anyway, my piping hot take is that early 2.1 megacollabs are... good actually?! My current hardest demon is Fractured Galaxy by Xaro, and I am getting close to beating Hypersonic as my first extreme. I definitely have a lot of nostalgia for this era, but I really enjoy this type of level despite the jank. I also love how unique and personal the parts feel (in a lot of modern megacollabs, I can barely tell when the creator changes between parts).
3:38 I actually slightly agree. Early 2.0 levels are way more memorable than your average generic megacollab. I'm not saying they are good, all I'm saying is that I would prefer to play Audio Extraction over a forgettable glow megacollab.
couldnt star rate to mythic ratings be a vote? like the demon difficulty vote? i know it would be a problem with creator points but creator points suck ass anyway
13:55 I kinda forgot about the whole botting scene while writing this comment. I guess if you're a showcaser or botter then mods are gonna be essential, yeah. My take still stands tho, I still don't think it's as bad to play the game without mods nowadays than it used to be, even if that's mostly due to RobTop adding stuff from mods lmao. Great video, keep up the good work!
I would like you to review the map packs as I was very much pleasantly surprised upon replaying them in 2.2 :) I would be interested to hear your opinions…
4:30 i almost got scared. i was half asleep and thought for a moment that you were talking about vehemence (the upcoming top 1; no, the other other one), and that song slaps
Honestly, if it wasn't for legendary and mythic ratings, I wouldn't find these amazing levels... And whenever anyone makes a stir about a level not being legendary I immediatly know about that level, too. As someone who has trouble finding good levels I like the systems we have now.
In my opinion, the epic, legendary, and mythic ratings are necessary. As someone who isn't the best at geometry dash I find that if I'm going to try beating another medium demon, I want to have fun while doing it. The system is nowhere near perfect, but epic or above levels tend to be much more fun to play.
@@sejt23the same goes for layout awards: most of the "best" layouts are or just have some parts that look and even tend to be unenjoyable. in the end, all people want to see is visuals sadly
i disagree with the point at 1:20 because i think the higher rates highlight some really good levels that otherwise would just blend in with whatever random level robtop decided to feature. some of my featured levels ive poured my heart into have gotten a less than a fraction of the amount of downloads i think they deserve compared to my levels that have somehow actually got a higher form of rate. i dont like the way they are incentivized tho which is the whole creator points thing.
Why do I allways miss post?!, I have many takes (of unknowm temprature). Here's a few: The Gauntlet are slightly better than Map Packs, but still bad, and I partialy blame Viprin for having boomer taste in levels. -InsanitY by Serponge is a Nine Circles level. It's mostly Wave with repetetive effects.- Slow Gameplay (like Acropolis) is good and I wish it was more common. Tripple Flask is a good one. The feature list is currently pretty good, it has levels of many diffrent styles. Memory and dual gameplay is fun to make but rarely fun to play when made by others.
@@Jakalope_Circles it's not. Now I regret my statement. I actualy checked InsanitY again and I missremembered. I though the wave was the majoroty of the level, but it's not.. But if it was I'd call it a NC.
@@WHErwin I think the lyrics are questionable, but the vocals overall support the song well and are nice to listen to. If it's not your taste I can respect that tho 🙏
While i agree that every level should get rated, i feel like some people say that just so their own shitty low effort levels would get rated and they could get easy cp and attention.
This is not a hot take, It's more like an explanation for why people hate levels for no reason. I personally hate iSpyWithMyLittleEye, but I don't know exactly why, it's an impressive level with a lot of effort behind it but I just don't like it. I know a lot of people who just hate levels for no reason and when you analyze it they are great levels but it's like your brain forces you to hate it even though there is no reason to hate it. Clarification: As such I don't hate iSpyWithMyLittleEye, I just have that mental block that I can't like the level as if it were a law against liking it.
@@Eagleleadsmc There are probably times when the worst thing that can happen to a level is that it becomes popular and becomes a "normie" level. That's probably what happened with iSpyWithMyLittleEye.
Non demon levels get forgotten because there mostly generic… but there is some levels that the creator actually put work 🤯🤯🤯🤯 into a non demon level…. But most of the time it’s just WOW COLORS. MY EYES SO MUCH FLASHING. CAMERA SPIN TO HIDE THE BORING AND EMPTY LEVEL. CAMERA EFFECTS THAT MAKE THE LEVEL SO UNSIGHTREADABLE THAT ANY NOOB WHO DARES TO STEP FOOT IN MY LEVEL WILL EXPLODE. or some hella forgettable glow level that looks like every single glow level in the universe. Or modern…. But for the ones who make glow levels but actually put a lot of effort 👍 art levels 👍 modern levels that isn’t just the color block in different colors with spinning background 👍 realistic levels 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍(there is no realistic non demon levels I know of sadly) but the good only happens one in a millennia so that’s why non demons are sadly mostly forgotten..
kyouki is so good im so mad right now kyouki is high s tier the SYNC THE SYYNC the deco its so tastefullllllllllllll its some belgian chocolate im just munching on the chocolate hopping arround in a field like im the easter bunny thats kyouki and you say thats meh, the rest of the video is very based especially the enough mods sending a level autorating thats awesome
i partly disagree with the physics statement. People are only not used to them, but no one should be forced to use the new engine unless they want to on old levels. old levels have old physics, new levels have new physics which includes an upside down ship thatdoesnt have 2 weights strapped to the front of it (It should have been fixed 10 years ago but we cant change that). upside down is too heavy, dual is way too heavy, it was just a matter of getting used to it and i started getting better in like 3 days (been playing gd for 10 years, used new physics since they came out and enjoyed them far more) The other one is that kyouki is good, agree to disagree
Wherwin made me reevaluate my opinion But I want the more popular or iconic harder levels to be updated as I still am climbing the skill ladder and dont want to learn another physics
My first voice ever in a yt video is not a bad, but horrendous take Shouldve thought that one out 💀 I also realized I was the first person in the vid to have caused a quake
A better take that still might be unpopular would have been more iconic and popular harder levels should be updated to new physics I wrote that take because I was salty that I would have to learn new physics after getting better at the game.
My takes Magma Bound is hard demon GD Jose levels are trash, they all seem the same except for the gear trilogy Glow and design style is bland, overused and overrated, imagine walking into the first page of the featured tab and half of the levels are just the same, boring glow designs you see. 3Depth is a bad level, although phenomenal, it looks likes it's just begging for mythic, and I do not like levels that look like they were made just to get a high rating rather than made out of passion and creativity Erou is the best JonathanGD level The song used for "And Ever" while good is also overrated (and even overused in layouts) Tidal Wave and Limbo are actually good top demonlist levels
yeah, the way i recorded this one meant reading comments from my other monitor which meant i moved away from the mic. ill try to set it up differently next time lol
@@WHErwin One of those collar mics should do the trick. Plus, auto captions came in handy this time so it wasn't too hard to understand what you were saying (though that isn't always available)
7:46 minigames were better in 2.0 when serponge was the only one making them and he was mixing them in with normal levels. thats my take 8:09 the real reason nobody (or at least me) cares about non-demons is because there arent many good non-demons. i wouldnt say theyre inherently better or worse but like, on my top 100 list of best levels only 5 of them are rated non-demon. the venn diagram of people who make good levels and the people who mostly or exclusively make non-demons has very little overlap 10:59 silent clubstep abyss of darkness slaughterhouse sakupen circles and limbo are all 10/10s actually, and thats just within the top 28 shown on screen 13:47 i dont really have a take on this but, from the original suggestion, it was done because "its becoming harder and harder for people to get records" which is an absolutely insane reason
Yeah, let's rate another effortlessly made invisible level just because one got rated 7 years ago because it was made by a creator that's known for being the most privileged when it comes to rates.
Here are some of mine: 1. I just do not like Knobbelboy's levels, at all. They're just terrible to play and I feel like combined with their use really flashy visuals they feel like youtube videos and not levels. The Furious barely tolerable because its only a hard demon (although some parts of that are awful too), but Dark Rainbow Rebirth and Astral Divinity are nightmares. The latter in particular is HORRENDOUS to play; I once did a practice run and I couldn't get out of it fast enough. Especially that one wave part that blocks your version, straight up incel shit lol 2. I don't like Bloodlust. The gameplay itself feels like it was made in like two hours. I've actually played it for a couple thousand attempts out of curiosity and maybe it sucks just because I'm on 60hz mobile, but I've also played Kyouki a little and that plays MUCH cleaner despite being a much harder level (and much more fun) 3: Erebus is really cool! I think the rustic and messy application of the colors combined with the off-kilter gameplay and the song give off the aura of being drenched with acid (without y'know the melting and dying parts) PS why don't you like Eyes In The Water? Seemed like the kind of level you'd like. Personally I think the feel of it is really unique and interesting, although I can't exactly play it so I wouldn't know how to feel about the gameplay or how much the level actually lends itself to its difficulty (like if the gameplay is bad it could be another case of a level that's good for showcases but not playing) also 5:52 chefs kiss. There was no reason for him to change the way the robot jumps in particular and how a bunch of level are broken, most of which will never get fixed because they're not popular enough 🤦♀
