Here's a music video years in the making. Well sort of. As I have said before, ToQger is one of my favorite Sentai but when it comes to villain groups the Shadow Line as a whole will always be #1 for me. Zedd and the other villains are all so interesting, plus the Shadow Monsters are the best monsters of the week in not just Sentai but any toku. They all have amazing designs and unique personalities. Besides that, what really helps boost them to the top is their whole modus operandi. A lot of the times we see them they are well into conquering towns, which makes them feel more threatening. We even see them on the verge of completely taking over a few times, and seeing how they have turned towns into basically little hells is just more interesting than anything ever done with Sentai monsters before or after.
I desperately yearned for a song to which I could show them all off in. The problem was that there weren't any songs specifically for the Shadow Line as a group, just individuals in it. I thought about showing each general's Shadow Monsters in their own songs alongside clips of them, but that wouldn't be fair to them as it should be their time to shine. It's a moot point anyways because I can't use any ToQger songs for this. This all changed one day when while browsing TV Tropes on a list of quotes for a trope I saw a title that sounded interesting, Atmosfear AKA Nightmare which is a series of video board games where you throw a tape into a VCR and try to beat the game before the time runs out. While scrolling through the page I saw that it had a villain song so I looked it up. After I discovered it I couldn't stop listening to it. I quickly came to wonder if I could use it for a music video, and I somehow got the idea to use it for the Shadow Monsters. I quickly got to work writing down the lyrics and noting the parts of the music then deciding which Shadow Monster goes where. Some of them I knew could only go to one part, but with most it was up in the air. Usually for this sort of video I do the monsters from least to greatest, but here I really had to mix them up for the ones I really like to go with my favorite parts of the song. It took a while but it was well worth it.
Eventually I got it all done and was very satisfied with the result except for one thing, the audio although decent was just not quite up to the standards needed for people to hear it best. So I put it on hold for years, and forgot about it until yesterday. I finally found a clear version of the song that had been posted so I downloaded it and set to work redoing part of the video to sync up with the different opening which messed things up at first but eventually I found out the length necessary to put everything back in place. I have to say that this is not only the best monster of the week compilation made for a Sentai, it's quite possibly the best music video I've ever done for any Sentai.
