Great song! I love Restless Heart and 80s country. For some reason I remember the first time I heard this song. I was 8 in the back seat of the car, spring break 1989. Something about it stood out. Didn't know who sung it. Then when I was older I was like "what was that song I heard back then?" It was still in my head, but I thought it went "big dreams in America" for some reason. For a while I thought it was a hair band like Warrant, lol. Then some Googling one day eventually brought me my answer, Restless Heart "Big Dreams in a Small Town."
took over a CD player at a hooters in memphis one sunday morning after they opened. cranked this song up! the bartender came out from behind the bar and said dance with me right now! She was a good 10 to 12 years younger than me. Walked out of their feeling 10 feet tall!
Restless Heart had such a great sound. Polished, but true to traditional country music, and lots of good upbeat songs, along with some great ballads. Larry Stewart is an excellent lead singer.
I disagree. They had six consecutive #1 hits between 1986-1988. Also, they had two songs that were crossover #1 hits on adult contemporary and pop. Restless Heart is the greatest vocal band in country music history, and it ain't even close.
My father tape-recorded this music from local radio stations back in Florida long time ago then he carried those tapes with him down to El Salvador. I was just a teenager. He changed my vision of music for the rest of my life. Thanks dad and thanks Restless ❤️
Being from a small Texas town, this song held a special place in my heart when I was a young man. In many ways, it's even more special today, given the nostalgia I feel for better times.
I live in a small town in Arizona, but not 900 people, my daughter just graduated from high school with her 20 classmates. This song came into my head at her graduation.
Saw these GREAT guys in our PALO DURO CANYON .....sooooo awesome sounded good looked good with the Canyon as a a back drop beauriful. Micheal Martin Murphy had them with him for the West Fest.
I think Greg could have held his own against Bonnie Raitt and Lee Roy Parnell-(with mad props and mad respect to both Bonnie Raitt and Lee Roy Parnell)
My 2010, Hartselle 🏫, senior yearbook, “The 🐯 👁️: Vol. 10,” has a similar theme, “Small Town…BIG Dreams!.” Great, inspiring mention! Anyway I was 19 years old when I graduated high school. 👨🏻🎓
[CHORUS] Big dreams in a small town, Eighteen and glory bound. Nothing here to tie us down, Big dreams in a small town. Rollin' down a dusty road in my daddy's Ford. I wish that I could feel that way again. I remember those summer nights on the brink of love. You and I made more then plans back then. [CHORUS] We were gonna try to set the world on fire. We were gonna make it all come true. We used to say that we couldn't wait to leave this town. That was something we were born to do. [CHORUS] Oh, ain't it funny how it always seem, That time has a way of changin' all your dreams. Big dreams in a small town, Guess it's time to settle down. Don't ya like the way it sounds, Big dreams in a small town. Big dreams in a small town. Big dreams in a small town. Big dreams in a small...town.
