@@DJdeliverance @tormentor 666 actually the only thing that's working with me is stretching,, whenever I feel it I keep myself in a stretching pose several minutes till I feel exhausted then I go back to sleep
thank you for this!! I can never get to sleep at night, it's like my mind is wanting desperately to fall asleep but my legs just don't. This is definitely helping!
@@kashishsingh8567 I did the stretching and after doing it for about a week it no longer helps me. May be different for others, I would keep doing it if it helps you.
5 in the morning in New Zealand. I've been in bed for about 5 hours now on and off sleep because of my legs. I knew I had restless legs but I never knew I could do these simple techniques to comfort them. Thank you!!!
I had the same problem. Disliked taking pills, but had no choice and went to the doctor who prescribed pills used to treat Parkinson disease. That helped a lot of and improved my sleep.
Its not a funny issue but hilarious description! I ddnt gave it when I was pregnant with my 1st or my twins. I have it from extreme physical work all my life. Like I said, lay in your belly in bed, hang only your feet off the bed. For me, I fall asleep immediately. If pregnant I imagine it might be difficult 🤰🤱
i’ve had this since I was little and it’s quite literally excruciating it’s uncomfortable and painful it flares up if I walk a bunch or if I stretch my ankles out too far. usually I get relief if I relax my legs and lay down with them bent at a 90 degree angle but it’s genuinely so bad im sobbing rn
I've experienced this for months and after discovering this remedies, I can now sleep without my legs feeling restless. Simple stretches and exercises can really help. Just be patient!

@@saashi2482 I have had restless legs for about 33 years. It is a nightmare. Sometimes I will sit in the bathtub with as hot as water as I can stand and I slowly dip my head back and forth in the water. I will do that off and on for about 30 minutes. It helps me a lot of the time. I just came across this video and am going to try the exercises, hopefully it will help.
Went to bed randomly one night after a long road trip, and felt just like this. After a lot of research, I tried your stretches, and they worked! You are a lifesaver. God bless.
Good video, I have had restless legs focused mainly in my knees but also sometimes my elbows. It comes and goes in waves, I can go 2 months without a flair up but when it starts it can be 3 nights or 14 nights. I am 51 now and have had this since a child, I can remember long car journeys with the family, after 1/2 a hour I was kicking the back of my fathers seat. Stretching before bedtime is a must when I am suffering, I read that hot baths before bed help but makes me worse. I have some skin cooling sports gel for inflammations I use when it gets bad. Usually at 2.30 in the am. This is a truly cruel affliction as I am sure all of you will agree.
True! I couldn't sleep at all last night. Had to search for exercises. It's the only video that explains simple stretches. I'm trying it out right now.
You're awesome!! These are great!!! I'm only 23 and recently started to have really bad restless legs and arms right when I'm relaxing when I'm trying to sleep and the most of my anxiety is in the evening to the night. It's been rough but I'm trying hard to make this as comfortable as possible. Thank you for this video. I love your attitude! And your dog is super cute 💕
Hello all.. I have found that my RLS begins after I have been laying down for a while. I have to force myself, because of the terrible discomfort & jumping feeling that is going on in my leg(s), to get out of bed and do these exercises. NOW, I will start doing them BEFORE I even lay down. I have also found relief with a heating pad, usually I like to use that after I do the stretches. They are terrible and the more we know, the more relief we have a chance of finding. Best wishes for all of you suffering with RLS.

📢 📢 New Fan 📢 📢 I was having the worst case of RLS I've ever had in my life and as soon as I clicked on your video and started flowing your instructions, my whole body starting feeling better! Thank you so much for your help.
Dear Doctor Jo, I should have written this comment a while ago but often we forget to say thank you. So after years of struggling with restless legs...it got so bad that I had to go jogging at 2 am I finally found your video (other videos weren't really helping). At first I did all the excercises but then realized that I can reduce them to the stretch with the rope. (I took an ordinary rope you can buy everywhere, important to wear slippers otherwise your feet hurt). After pulling each leg for 30 seconds twice I am since 6 months restless legs free. I never thought that a solution could be this easy. If I forget doing the excercise I often feel again discomfort and so I get out of bed and quickly do my excercises. So again thank you. (I also realized that riding the bike to work helps improve RLS).
I've had RLS since childhood. Now i also have restless arms. Ive found that a vibrating massager works wonders. I do around shoulder blades and also my butt where the Sciatic nerve is. Also, I'd like to point out that a hot shower before bed works too.
Yup just started getting restless arms this week at the age of 29. Always had restless legs. But now it developed into restless arms too and a little bit of restless legs during the day
I have had sciatic nerve pain for many many years but this past January I had a severe attack and my chiropractor has been treating me for almost 25 years for this with success and I have overcome this but the restless leg syndrome has gotten worse I am doing my yoga stretches, but today I learned some new stretches on this video and I’m going to try them.I am so thankful that I found this video, I am a 71-year-old woman pretty active I walk the treadmill quite a bit I have very strong legs but now since the sciatic nerve problem I’ve got to build my stamina and my strength back up in my left leg and it’s a slow process but I am determined to do it thank you so much again and God bless you
This video is 3 yrs old so you probably wont see this comment, but thank you so much; I don’t think I can be grateful enough. Two nights ago I was at my wits end, crying cause I couldn’t sleep no matter how hard I tried, but after finding your video last night I was skeptical of all the positive comments, but still tried the stretches it actually worked!! I still felt a bit tingling in the leg, but it was very small compared to what I was experiencing for the last week and was able to sleep!! ❤
Hey Jo, I have just joined your patreon page, you have been instrumental in getting rid of my restless legs, I truly cannot thank you enough🙏🏼waking up at 2am every morning to do star jumps (saw it on a youtube and it did actually work) was detrimental for my health never mind my sleep!! And.....my restless legs was because I exercised so intensely, star jumps at 2am was not the cure! I cannot applaud you enough Jo👏and those neck exercises immediately stopped my Vertigo!! From one dog rescuer and animal lover to another, thank you from Australia, luv Jo🥰
trying to explain RLS to someone who has never had it is hard work, my doctor told me to go for a run, thanks doc I’ll go for a jog at 3 am 🙄, this vid helped that you
I had Restless leg syndrome tonight , couldn't sleep , my only hope , search DR Jo's video's and so happy to find one on this topic , THANK YOU for everything you do to help , YOU ARE THE BEST
I have been suffering with RLS FOR ABOUT 4.5 YEARS and it's really very tiresome and makes me feel really drained and I've been to numerous doctors that never really helps.. these exercises really are wonderful and they help me in a tremendous way so thank you very much 🙏
@@nahid2281 same my mum use to complain every night banging her feet on the mattress get up run a cold water on them. I felt sorry for her back then seeing her struggling to stay stil in bed unable to fall a sleep. And now its my turn. Doctors says its genetic. God help me i am struggling now😫
It’s 3am and had enough so here I am on RU-vid. I just did the first stretch your recommended and it’s already calmed it down already thank you so much
My goodness!!! I woke up at 4am (typically as every morning) and thought about searching for a RLS help video not thinking I was going to find one. Surprise surprise, watching ur video and practicing it helped so much!!! THANK YOU!! 🙏😅❤️
I’ve had RLS for the past week and it’s driving me crazy. It feels like there’s spiders crawling under my skin. I want to sleep so bad but the uncomfortable feeling keeps me awake. I hope these exercises alleviate this horrible sensation.
thank you so much, at times i would just cry and beg for god to make it stop, this was a life changing video for me, I thought I was the only human being that experienced this travesty, I'm now going to exercise my legs for 30 minutes every day to make sure I don't get this shit again, Im now a subscriber, thanks for this blessing! :)
Great video! I did the stretches and exercises before bed last night and although I still woke up twice during the night with RLS symptoms, I was able to do a couple of the exercises in bed and got back to sleep relatively quickly. Thank you so much!
Thank you so so much for these excercises!! They helped me so much this week, I now do them every day ! I can't thank you enough. From Isabella, Sweden
For me, the RLS symptoms feel like a rope tightening inside my legs. And I once knew a woman who had such bad restless legs that they would literally jump uncontrollably by themselves.
Thats how mine is. It feels like this intense tingle, like being thrust into a fire without flames. I've woken up kicking the bay window by my bed, the wall. Its horrible
Mine feels like my leg bones have been cut in half and my muscles are squeezing them really hard, but if I’m standing and have it it feels like my leg bones are being compressed heavily. :/
You helped me out during the pandemic with a problem that I had and after getting fixed with your exercises I started recommending your channel. Now I have another issue and I am already feeling the difference. Thank you 🙏
I'm 33, I was nursing 12 hour shifts, l quit my job in July 2022 and started having RLS in November, leg movement reduction issues I guess... After going through the comments I realised that I had it all along but mildly so I didn't pay attention till it got worse... The medical socks I wore to work make a difference- but who wants to sleep in those really tight socks... Appreciate your video 🙏❤️
Thanks Dr,Jo, have been doing these exercises for the last four days ,and as I have sciatica pain in my left leg has nearly gone, thanks and God bless you.
Ngl this actually helps me.. i did the exercise and i feel my legs a pain but i know myself that it will relieve the RLS.. and somehow it works im so happy im gonna do this everytime
It really helped my muscles to relax ... My legs start to kick in the evening so I will try to stretch as soon as muscles start to hurt ... thanks so much 🙏
Is this linked to anxiety? I tend to get this feeling every once in awhile and I feel like it’s linked to my anxiety. It’s so uncomfortable and I cannot sleep at all when it happens. Thank you for the stretches. They help.
It definitely has a rebound effect.. The more stressed I am is usually when my RLS is at its worst. I think the lack of sleep due to RLS is causing the stress and anxiety which then exacerbates the RLS flares even worse.
I'll have to try these exercises. Last 3 nights in a row, I've experienced RLS in my left leg. I have actually had this condition on and off for awhile now, but it used to be less frequent. It's also always only in my left leg. I've also had pain in my left knee on and off, so who knows what's going on there. Hopefully these exercises can lessen my symptoms a bit.
I think this is what i have, i try to ignore the tingly feeling deep in my muscles but they literally make my legs/feet twitch or spazz out a bit from the tingly feeling, makes me wanna stomp my feet on the ground or hit/massage the muscles acting up to get to that tingly spot but its like its too deep to reach, its wierd
I used to have RLS so badly, that I used to stay up all night crying and I’d only be able to sleep when the sun came up. During this time I was smoking cigarettes. Since I stopped smoking I haven’t experienced RLS nearly as badly as I once did.
@@nightmareseer3755 I've always thought there were mosquitos in my room that kept bugging me at night only to realize now it's the effect of rls. Foot wraps really help me ease that and as soon as I wrap my legs I immediately doze off.
This is amazing, I think I got this syndrome yesterday, but I feel mine the whole day. I mostly ignore it but sometimes it feels very bad and I'm forced to move my leg even while sitting. But when I did this the feeling went away. Very amazing technique, thank you for this ❤❤❤
OMG! I’ve been suffering for the past week with RLS (started new medication and I’m also anemic). Found your video, didn’t think it would work and it totally worked. After doing all the stretches and staying in child’s pose for a few minutes, my legs calmed down and I fell asleep! Thank you so much. I’ll be doing this nightly.
Well if the body is telling you to use your legs, you should probably listen to your body. Go for a run, or do strength training for legs. Stretch out afterwards, and your legs will relax.
eggo i realized that it probably was telling me to use my legs so every night for the past week i have been doing squats and leg kicks and i literally sleep fine.
I wore compression stockings last night for the first time. I had no issues for the first time in so long.. Hoping it was the stockings that stopped it and not the fact I was just having a good night for once.. I'll be wearing them tonight also.
@@TraceyMariexx I began severely limiting my sugar consumption ten days ago, and all my inflammation has disappeared! No more restless leg, even without wearing compression stockings! It's quite shocking. You may want to try it.
@@TraceyMariexx I've always been a huge sugar addict. Seriously, it's like night and day. Evening out my mood, no sense of distress after eating. I could handle it when I was young and active, but now I know I need to get with the program. My whole body feels better, and it's been less than two weeks. I've been chomping on blueberries and avocadoes which are allowed on KETO. Basing meals around cheese and meat. So consider it. Let me know if you try it and how it works for you!
@@dudewhathappenedtomycountr9099 So.. I wore the stockings again last night and I slept good, but omg today my legs are hurting, aching, yhrobbing and feel swollen, though they're not.. Never had this before. Thinking the stocking have caused it.. Not wearing them tonight.. Might have to go the sugar route.. Have to get rid off all my hidden choc bars first though..
Thank God I found this. This has been happening to me recently. I work night shift, and the only time I get sleep is when I'm literally exhausted and can not stay up for another day straight.
What helps me is drinking a tonic water before going to bed, and rubbing dry soap on my legs . Thank you for the video, the stretching helps a lot too.
I use to take sleeping pills to avoid but that didn't helped and i injured myself infact, in my case having lots of water helped me. I have been there and i understand it's tough for you, hopefully you get better too
Thank you for this, I'll be doing it tonight! Hopefully it works for me because I didn't get even a wink of sleep last night 😭 I also bought magnesium oil online because I heard it helps. I'll tell y'all if these 2 remedies worked for me! Update: I tried these leg stretches last night and they worked!! Also I put soap under the sheets of my bed. I haven't tried the magnesium oil yet as it hasn't arrived.
Its 1:32 am here in Phil. Cant sleep and my legs are aching for couple of weeks. Tried every massage techniques but it wont stop the aching sensation. Trying this relief now in my bed with my headsets on. 👍👍👍 Thank you so much Doc.
It’s so painful but not painful at the same time. I use ice and magnesium gummies. I can’t sleep at night lol. It also helps if I flex and point my feet.
I had my first RLS attack when I was 12. There was no name for it other than 'growing pains'. I finally received a diagnosis when I was 43 years old and am now 65. I wish someone had told me about exercises that might help sooner!!!! My RLS is severe and I average 3 hours between 8pm and 11pm unable to sit down due to the attacks. Today I am going to start a routine of these exercises to see if they help. Wish me luck ya'll!! By the way, I appreciate the disclaimer at the beginning. I despise the video's I see that claim to have the cure all for RLS. This nasty affliction affects everyone differently !
I just found your channel and I am anticipating that these exercises will help me get back mobility that I have lost due to piriformis syndrome. I have been mostly bed ridden due to the pain and pain killers. On a positive note we lived in West Columbia/Cayce for almost 10 years and my son is attending The USC and is a proud GameCock!
I've made 2 visits to the ER IN 9 Days for rashes and itching. The first Dr said it was simply poison ivy. Last night's Dr said she wasn't 100% sure because when i saw her over half my body was covered in huge red splotches and had chest tightness. She diagnosed me with severe hives and gave me several rounds of IV benadryl along with a script for benadryl. The itching is unbearable but the thing is the med works wonders! Bur I just read benadryl can make RLS a lot worse! My legs are literally violently kicking and I cannot fall asleep. This is taking quite a toll on my. I just did all of your stretches and so far after 10 minutes I haven't had a single tremor!!! Fingers crossed this continues to work. That you so very much for these -could actually be a lifesaver for me!!
My restless legs are the worst around 2:30 am. Anyone else who experiences the same thing? Trying to do some research on what can be done against this.
Mine start around 4 A.M. and I need to get out of bed and stand/walk around a bit for some relief. Started happening to me a few months ago after a lower back injury.
I don't know if I have RLS or not. It's my feet that bother me. Imagine you have dipped your feet in carbonated liquid. The feel of bubbles popping on your skin. I do also kick out when I sleep. I know part of the problem is because I'm up on my feet all day and I'm fat. I'm working on that. It scares me that my outer thighs go numb.
Do some research on whole-food plant based eating. It's amazing how it has helped me in so many areas of my life. I've only been doing it 4 months, and i feel terrific. Lost 32 pounds without even trying. I never get hungry either.
@@garysites1528 I eat WFPB, too. Are you still feeling like it has helped your RLS? Not for me. Sad face. Many say to eat "low carb" but as you know, WFPB eating means high (healthy) carb.
