Wowww what a beautiful job. I appreciate your tremendous hard work. It has turned out gorgeous. So Happy for you to see your chanel growing. Keep up the great work.
In my videos, in addition to technology, if I don't have the tools, I try to make the tools I need with what I have, and these ideas can be useful for you who are interested. Thank you for the wonderful comment
Mach weiter so
Thank you for your constant support and cooperation and I am glad that you like our style of furniture restoration and ideas. We try to restore our furniture step by step from simple to advanced methods and here the chair. Thanks for the comment
Thoroughly enjoyed this restoration. Like the way you created a lathe with a drill for sanding the spindles. One doesn't have to spend a fortune on special tools to get the job done. I especially liked the cleanliness of your work area. Excellent video. This was truly a brilliant work of craftsmanship! 💥💥💥
Wow!!! A very beautiful and lovely and energizing comment! Thank you for being so kind to me and most importantly for watching my videos carefully. In this renovation, I tried to use my personal ideas and creativity and make a lathe that can easily load the wood and sand the cylindrical bases easily. On the other hand, I know that technology is great, but people's budgets should also be considered. Finally, I have a lot of devotion to you, my dear friend
The restoration of this antique chair has been very laborious and time-consuming. But since I love renovation and carpentry, I challenged myself again and used interesting works and interesting ideas in this restoration video. Thank you for your comment
The restoration area is very beautiful and I tried to restore this antique chair using my skills, techniques, creativity and ideas and share it with you, dear enthusiasts. Thank you for your nice comment, dear friend
You are special in restoration, your work is excellent, your video is of high quality and beautiful, you are hardworking and patient, you restored the chair to the most beautiful possible state, I enjoyed it.❤👍🙏
Thank you for your kindness. In restoring furniture, I try to share my skills, techniques, ideas and creativity with my friends so that they can enjoy and even be useful in their daily life and such tasks.
Every person has a special interest in his life and there is no male or female. As a carpenter and restorer, I admire you for being interested in this carpentry and restoration profession. Thank you for your comment
Liked hearing the extractor fan in your workshop, to “actively” extract the dust/fumes ~ not “just” stating putting on goggles & respirator, the workshop needs to be adequately ventilated or the work that generates dust/fumes done outside. Also converting your DIY disk sander into an impromptu lathe to “more efficiently” sand the chair spindles and woodturn a replacement bit glued to the end of one of the spindles
Thank you for your complete and practical explanation. It is exactly the same, every carpentry and renovation workshop or... that works with chemicals or produces sawdust must have strong ventilation, the stronger the better, and on the other hand, the use of a suitable filter mask and glasses are also required to maintain health. Regarding the construction of the lathe, I must say that this idea has helped us a lot for sanding the bases as well as its sharp corners and is very practical. Finally, thank you for your comment
I am proud to have the support and companionship of enthusiasts like you in my channel and videos of furniture restoration. I'm glad you like the details of this chair restoration video. Thanks for the comment
@aghamahan003 I implemented exactly this idea myself in sanding to restore furniture with cylindrical bases, and this shows the art and skill of a person. I didn't use the lathe, but somehow I made it. I hope other friends will refer me if they use this idea. Thank you very much for your comment, my dear friend
@@ceb964 Fortunately, our goal is to provide techniques and skills along with ideas and creativity for those interested in renovation, and surely someone who has creativity will not listen to sarcastic criticisms or look at the difficulty of the work. I will also go my own way with my fans. Thank you for your comment dear friend
It Definitely was a 'Dare to Restore' Episode. This Style of Chair is not easy to Restore and was so Messy. Making Your Own Lathe was Very 'MacGyver'. Beautiful Results!
We are glad that you enjoyed watching this chair restoration video. We try to challenge ourselves in the reconstruction of furniture and carpentry because it makes us progress and stay up-to-date even with regard to technology. The idea of the lathe machine has also been very practical for the style of the chair and has been very helpful. Thank you for your wonderful comment, dear friend
I try to use my own ideas and creativity in the restoration of furniture and carpentry work and share it with you who are interested. The beauty of RU-vid is that we enjoy watching skills together. Thank you for your comment dear friend
I'm glad you like my chair restoration techniques. We try to restore furniture in our own style in our channel so that those who are interested can also use them. Thank you for your beautiful comment
2yearsago I restored the exact chair that sat outside for years made out of ash didn’t stain it varnished it and polished it turned our beautiful nice to see another one.
That was a lot of work, but the restored chair is beautiful. I was considering buying some old chairs and restoring them (I have zero experience using any tools), but after watching this video, I think not! Excellent work.
First of all, I am glad that the restoration of this chair has caught your attention. Regarding the renovation, it should be kept in mind that you need tools as well as patience and time. The last two items are very important.
@@CreativeIdeasMaker Yes, I quickly realised I was both unskilled and ridiculously under-equipped for the job. We ended up buying new chairs for now. I have a lot to learn!
It was an interesting idea and I am sure that it can be useful for anyone interested. Thank you for your comment and I'm glad you watched this chair restoration video
Because the enthusiasts should see the original design when the assembly is complete, and you as a renovator and carpenter should be able to recognize the original wood design after assembly and decide which color is suitable for this work. Thank you for the suggestion and comment dear friend
Fantastic work looks impressive, you work to a high standard and an entertaining video as always, looking forward to the next work. A big "hello" from Brazil.
I have put the materials used in the subtitle for you. If you have any questions, I will tell you. I'm glad you enjoyed watching this chair restoration video. Thanks for the comment
You are so very talented!! This chair looked too damaged to repair, but yet you did it, and it's beautiful! I have never seen anyone else spend so much time cleaning the piece before starting to work on it. The paint removal must have taken you days, and you got every tiny piece of it! Wow! The finished product will last for many many years. GREAT job!! I'm a fan! Looking forward to your next video. Oh, also, your videography was awesome, too!!!
I am very glad that you paid so much attention to the details of the chair restoration video and it is valuable to me. Thank you very much for your kindness and support for my furniture restoration.
By the way, you can also find these chairs in the White House. I don't know which president is sitting on it, maybe Trump is sitting, maybe George Washington.
Kann man sich zuerst gar nicht vorstellen, was für ein großartiges Ergebnis man bei der Reinigungsaktion erzielen kann.......gut, wenn man Ideen hat, um sich die Arbeit zu erleichtern.
I am reminded of the proverb that says "Don't judge a book by its cover". The work of restoring furniture or other parts is the same, you have to be patient, you worked hard, even sometimes the furniture or chair challenges you, but a lover can create a different and valuable effect by applying skills and using techniques and individual creativity. Thank you for your wonderful comment, dear friend

Thank you for your energizing comment. The washing step in this chair restoration was very time-consuming and laborious because the white color was mixed with putty and even the color was removed.
To clean furniture that has several layers of paint and putty, you must use different methods and materials to remove and clean them until the lining stage, and then to continue, after sanding, you must apply a suitable lining, then paint and the final coating.
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad you liked my chair restoration skills and video. Regarding the high noise, I must say that in some sequences, we needed strong ventilation, and that noise was related to the fan to drive out the harmful substances and particles suspended in the air.
Thank you for your kindness towards this chair restoration. It is very valuable to be able to use our ideas, creativity and skills to advance our carpentry and renovation works. And on the other hand, I enjoy dear friends and enthusiasts like you who are technicians and share their technical opinions with me. Thank you for the wonderful comment
@@ГВИ It is very important to have expertise in any profession, but sometimes you can handle your own work by seeing proper training in furniture restoration. RU-vid is definitely a suitable platform for these trainings. I hope I can help you
As I said, this chair is old, and you must use good and suitable filter masks while working, and on the other hand, your workshop environment must have proper ventilation because fine chemical particles of paints and saw dust are very harmful to our health.
I can imagine how appealing that was, "here is this lovely chair. Sorry, it's a *little* dirty." LOL. I love how you were able to repair the structure of the chair without destroying its character and history (in other words, it still looks like an antique chair). Sometimes seeing something go almost back to new is great, and sometimes it needs that Hist to show. I think you made a great choice for this piece! Very nicely done, and it gained you a new sub.
@@DrPsyc71 Thank you so much for being so kind to restore my chair. Keeping the originality of the furniture is very important and I try to keep it during the restoration project. I am happy for your support and welcome to my channel
Thank you for your beautiful comment dear friend. Thank you for your cooperation and support and you can enjoy my furniture restoration videos step by step and my techniques and skills.
So many videos available on RU-vid and the internet on how to do things the correct way and you still put together a video doing it with so many mistakes.
@@CreativeIdeasMaker OK, in my opinion, the broken spindle that you fixed should have had a dowel inserted between the two joined pieces for strength. The wood appears porous and really took in a lot of stain, my opinion based on restoration practices is to coat the wood with shellac before staining. Also, in my opinion the color match could have used blending between the main parts and or toner matching the spindles. Too much of a contrast between them and lastly, the spindle holes appear to have needed some rework to make a better fit. They appeared loose and they could break if the glue failed somewhere in the future. Too much emphasis on glue instead of the joint strength. If done right you wouldn’t need those wooden spears to reinforce the joint. Watch any good furniture restoration video and these techniques are used by most everyone to ensure a strong and reliable connections.
@@vmoutsop First of all, I must say that for the back of the chair, the two sticks on the sides are fixed with screws in addition to glue, and the rest are trapped between these two sticks. Regarding the legs, if you pay more attention, you will see that it is fixed with wooden pins and glue and it is very strong, and as for connecting the legs in the seat, it does not need any connection because the angle has gone into the seat and is fixed with it, and the lower part The base is always fixed due to curling. If you were a carpenter, you would know this, but anyway, it was a good question and it can be useful for those interested.
@@CreativeIdeasMaker Maybe it wasn't clear in the video vs what you did but I was taught that the joint should not use or need wood pins, nails or screws for the pin itself can end up loosening the joint and make it harder for future repairs.
@@vmoutsop Many of the very strong connections known in the world, especially in Japanese carpentry, in addition to the shape of the connection, various types of wooden pins are used because it acts like a lock and keeps the connection under pressure and does not allow it to slip under different pressures. But you have mentioned a good point, thank you
Anyone else notice the extreme difference between European and USA/Canadian restoration shops? The US/Canadian shops look like someone actually works there with tool boxes and machinery and piles of containers full of parts and fasteners, and dirty old stuff. The European shops appear clinically sterile and bleak. Nothing on the floor or walls. American (includes both US and Canadian) shops have dirty well worn tools and table tops. European work surfaces look like you could eat off of them with pristine, never used shiny tool kits.
@georgepretnick4460 With all respect, as an Italian, I reject your words. Because you face a lot of dirt in the renovation work, especially in the initial washing of furniture or very old pieces. Anyway, I understand your concern and thank you for your criticism
@candelasresanocrespo7032 Anyway, every nation and country has its own way, it is better to respect each other and enjoy learning from each other together and share our experiences and skills with each other and all the people of the world.
I don't think you can generalise in this regard. I watch several Canadians and Americans as well as a few Europeans such as Restomakertaurer (excuse spelling) and AT Restoration from Estonia and Chrigun from Germany who have very used old workshops and are true professionals. Their workshops are crammed with projects at various stages. I love more showing, less chatter, but i also love Canadian lady Trena at Johns Furniture Repairs as she explains every step to achieve the brief from her clients.

Thank you for your comment. The cracks that were not repaired are very superficial and shallow, and we also adjusted and tightened the joints in such a way that the weight is distributed on the stool and it can bear a lot of load.
