Wish I knew more about motors and restoring them, but to me that look pretty darn convincing! I think you hit all the hot button issues I see come up in some comment sections: you replaced all the gaskets and bearings and you demonstrated a functioning motor at the end. Even more important to me is that you intend to use the restored engine for a purpose - that is unfortunately not always clearly the case in other restoration videos.
Another excellent video, where you demonstrate good workmanship, and no shortage of effort to get such a complex task accomplished. I would like to suggest an alternative approach, which is to convert this tiller over to an electrical drive. I realize that this is not an obvious choice perhaps, but I am confidant that you would get many views for such a conversion. For example the RU-vid channel now you know just ran a series of episodes over about 10 weeks to show converting a lawn mower to electric drive. I know that you possess the necessary intelligence and skills to perform this task. I think at the end of such a project that the tiller would be even more useful, and have a much longer lifespan.
Im watching it all go back together and notice everything is being put back dry, even new bearings haven't been packed with grease, then you hit them with a hammer?? wonder what he feeds his horse with??, Dog Food maybe..
If you are replacing the bearings at least remove the valves cut new seats and fit new rings and shells or you still got the same worn motor you had before you started with new paint
i work on honda engines from many tools..(tillers, concrete cutters, lawn mowers also 2 stroke engines.) they all are very easy to restore and rebuild . you did good except the part were you worked the gas tank. you didnt check the integrity or check for leaks and rust. also you didnt show any work on the carburetor. great work as usual.
Yea, I call BS on the carburetor. LOL I have never found a junk heap to have a perfect carburetor! I suspect he does like the rest of us and buys one off Amazon for 10-15 bucks.
I checked in my engine strip down manuel and i cannot find where it says to heat the fragile ailiminium crankcase and beat on a brick till the bearing falls out what page was that bit on ?
25:35 - It seems like all of these repair channels do the same thing, throw the cam gear in a random position. The timing marks aren't lined up properly, this engine will never run correctly. It may run, but it won't run right due to the valves opening at the wrong time.
OK, so we can dismantle, wash, clean, paint, buy some new bits and then put it all back together and it’s called a “Restoration “ ? No rebore, valve grind or carburetor overhaul, just toss it all together even spray can the block with the valve springs getting a coat, silver paint and oil together, not so good, just sayin!!!
