I've read about fake resto videos, but this is the first one I've seen that's so obviously fake. Scrape a bunch of rust and dirt caked onto nonrusty metal and finish the handle. Woooo!!!
@@evilgenius396 yeah at first the knife appears to have tons of "rust" but after a single pass with a brush magically clean mettal with no ptting is revealed
@@evilgenius396 You don’t see the original grips because plastic, resin, and wood are too difficult to “fake age”. There was no putting on the metal which would indicate age. You could achieve a similar result by ordering a new knife from Amazon, burying it in a pot of soil from Home Depot, and watering it for a year with salt water. What were seeing here is an attempt to jump on a trend of making restoration videos by artificially aging cheap items from flea markets.
@@Wervimwfeivom There’s nothing to be jealous of. There are people here who have expertise and experience that you do not. We can recognize that what we’re being presented has been misrepresented to us. The blade was artificially aged because buying/finding authentic rusted artifacts to restore can be expensive and time consuming. It’s easier and cheaper to buy cheap daggers and expose them to acidic soil and salt water to mimic the natural aging/rusting process of old metallic objects.
Completely agree with you Steve, seems they remove the handle, and let it lay in mud, or muddy water a few days, it was in a to good condition after removing from the acid.
When you just cake red clay dirt onto a knife and dry it out so it crumbles right off with no actual real work when you brush it. Rust is the oxidation of metal, which means it comes from a transformation of the original metal. Rust doesnt just brush off and leaves the original base metal untouched.
Hmmm - this a relatively modern knife, and by the way it looked it is probably with a stainless steel blade with laser imprinted designs and a case animal head as a decoration. Not much to restore here.
Hmmm… I cant say that I believe in this video… when that is said, when you started handsanding the blade I kept saying to myself: “I hope it´s not Sharp”
It seems like you had a knife with broken handle, in my opinion you had two options: 1- create a video of making a beautiful handle for this perfectly pristine blade (would be the best) 2- should have kept it buried for a month at least so it could be more convincing restoration
Why is the material so convenient for video rusting? Isn't it going to rust after preparing the material suitable for the video? After watching this video, I was convinced.
I was thinking that knife deserved something better than an old piece of junk wood for the wood scales too. Bloodwood or rosewood would've really popped on it. Even some really nicely grained walnut or mahogany would have been beautiful. That's one of the coolest looking knives I've seen on RU-vid for sure. Whoever let it get in the shape it was in at the beginning should be flogged.
