You Ree I grew in Manila the Philippine capital in the 80’s. Here’s a brief summary of the college car culture (UP, Ateneo, La Salle and UST) back then. The cars that were popular then were Toyota Corona and Corolla that came in either a sedan or wagon, of course the Starlet, Mitsubishi Galant, Lancer and Mirage, Volkswagen Beetle, Fastback and Brasilia. During the early eighties the cars that came from the factories came out bone stock to make it more affordable. Since the cars had no options available there were two desired ways of “dressing up” your car. You can either import certain parts that will make your car look like a “euro” or a “US”version car. If I’m not mistaken “Jdm” versions started to pick up only when Honda started making cars in the country. Cars that came from Europe at that time had options like rear fog lamps and headlamp wipers and washers. Parts that we desired from the U.S. was the “5 mile” bumper bumpers and split headlamps. Popular expensive wheel upgrades during those times were size 13 vintage Campagnolo Elektron, Cromodora Cd38, Minilite “banana”, Gotti, Compomotive, TRD Tosco and Enkie Apache mesh. The last two were most desirable mounted on Pirelli P7 F 175/50/13. Local wheel makers Rota, Rallye, Comodore and Silverwind were making the affordable knock offs. This is just a brief history. Hope this is helpful.

I own one kp60 from 81 probably stock engine i dont know if it is 2k or 3k cause the engine can rev over 7k i dont think 2k can handle this base on my research probably is 3k engine but im not sure... 3.9 final drive that gear is almost like a close ratio i can hit 6k in fifth gear with only 140+kmh something probably need a 4k to go faster is great car the handling is good the respond is there but still need some more torque will be swapping to 4k with minor mods hope my boy will be alot better 😅😅

We just kept it simple with the 4K because of balance and period correctness. On my IG page, there are pictures of the 503E/turbo that was suppose to be swapped in the Starlet.

4k is nice and 4 age is too . beams is heavy for the front

Id rather be different and keep the spoiler off. There are quite a few n2 kitted starlets around and i just wanted to distinguish myself with the color purple jus to be as different as possible

It was originally going to have a 503E/Turbo swap. Unfortunately, it did not pan out. But we are very happy with the 4K
