Yeah that was really nasty... roadworks when they were widening Springvale Road at night and the Range Rover was in a low part of the road when I checked on my right... I started moving after I looked left then its headlights were just outside the drivers door. Thankfully I had started moving and it hit me just behind the drivers door pushed it almost to the centre of the back seat, then the car spun twice and ended up on the opposite nature strip. You can see it briefly near the start of XC Restoration Pt 18... a bit of footage of you as a kid too! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZJU7lWosepk.html
Ford's Bronze Wine and Electric Blue would make nice mower colours in future projects. Not sure on the Wild Voilet. The rest of the fleet are looking really nice 👍
i recently restored a 1971-2 victa super 24 inch slasher type mower and used chevy orange which is almost 100% match , and still has the orange wheel caps
Sounds like everyone had a Torana! My mum had a beige 4 door LX 2850 auto before I was born, which was later painted “Ultra Blue” with Aunger Hotwires (colour matched). Dad had a one previous owner immaculate HG Premier (6 cylinder auto) in Persian Sand. I reckon Persian Sand would be a great colour on one of those decks. Makes me feel that it’s even more of a shame that you cannot buy a proper brand new Aussie made two stroke Victa. Their Milperra facility/factory was only minutes from my house, which is pretty novel to think about. So is the head office of GA Dunmore, about 20 mins from my place. Small world! My dad runs his own commercial lawn mowing business and we’ve bought parts from them for over 20 years.
I had an LJ torana that I sold a few years ago - was red for the whole time I owned it but it was originally metaliic lime green. I did plan to eventually repaint it that colour, but ended up selling it to get a bigger car
The Torana green is pretty lurid and wild, I think once clear it's going to look rad. I'd say if I had a project car where the paint was totally trashed and I was going to do the whole thing complete, I'd consider that color. It would be a good race car color too.
Personally I really like the orange hubcaps. It gives the green one a bit of pizazz. I would even look to paint that top cover the same orange just to make it match up with the hubcaps. Agree it is a bit of an ugly design but you could embrace it and make a feature of it. High fill it, gloss orange etc. Who knows, it might look cool (or not).
Hi Peter, I'm loving the lawn mower vids. Your work, as always, is exceptional. That green colour is absolutetly gorgeous. Do I take it that is your version of 'BMC' green, or is it a colour I can order as I would love to paint my Wolseley 1500 engine in it. Keep the wonderful videos coming, even if they are Ford cars (I'm a Holden fan). Cheers, Chris.
Hi Pete,,,,I'v been watching your vids for several years and thoroughly enjoy them all,,,especially your V8 work,,,can //will you be ever intending to restore another V8 or even a V10 vehicle. Chris..here in the UK
If you wanna really have fun with the Torana Green, repaint the XC Falcon in it. The Ford guys will lose their mind, the Holden guys will lose their mind.
It's such a brilliant colour isn't it - if there was a Ford painted in it and nothing was said I think a lot of people would like it. It does look a bit like the VF Commodore colour though, cheers
Having watched most of Peter's videos, there's one thing I've been truly astonished by: the sheer volume of ice cream that he and his family have consumed!
