So cool that you guys do these giveaways! I just entered. I also like that you do these builds on the cheap. I like to watch builds that the average Joe can do. Not people with unlimited budgets. So thank you.
Awesome video man.Its cool to see people do great things for others keep up the good work. I'll be ordering some stuff on pay day. God Bless You.. Going to subscribe to the channel.. Keep being amazing.
JL Audio subs are pretty expensive and if that alpine amp is functioning then that is also worth a good amount of coin as well. Just FYI you may sell that system and fund more parts for this project.
The fact you got a manual one for this price is the big shocker. Great pick up. I've had 52 88-00 civics or intergras and do projects as well as part outs and I've never got a manual shell for under $750 and rarely under $1000. Running double that. Looking forward to the build I'm doing one currently on a 2000 ex coupe as well.
Can’t wait to see more! I think a little Amazon steamer would probably help as far as cleaning up the interior and the dirty little bits and pieces you may come across 👍🏻
I had a 2k Civic Ex Coupe for 7years, lowered, ran great. At 223k miles, got hit in the back while I was at a Stop sign, squashed trunk and quarter panels. Wasn't worth fixing. Gotta 8th gen 2007 Civic Coupe now, manual 5 speed. These cars are fun and easy to maintain.
That’s awesome, I just picked up a 1998 EK 4 door last week for $400, had a snapped lower control arm and smashed fender, I just ordered all new suspension, bushings and fender/bumper, going to be doing all the gaskets on the engine just for peace of mind, all in I’m at about $1400
I really like this channel because you are down to earth with the basics of economy and restoration of some older cars that don't end up in the junk yard that have life in them still. Also the fact that you help out your community with these giveaways and or helping younger ones with with limited budgets to keep their rides going a bit longer, especially with the cost of everything, I know what its like, I was young once and know a tight budget with a car.....great job, and look forward the the final reveal!
Good quality video and accurate. For anyone that doesn't have a facility with a press or air hammer the wheel bearings and ball joints can all be changed using a little care, a little force, a big hammer, and some huge sockets by hand.
This is super rad. I like the idea behind this giveaway more than all of those supercar giveaways you see advertised all over the internet. I hope someone gets it and appreciates it!
I just came across your channel in my suggestions. I like what I see 👍 this is gonna be an interesting build. The car has good bones, there’s a lot that can be done. Good luck 🙏🏽 I look forward to following along
I have a 00 ex that was hit in the front and has the same type of damage to the radiator support at that one, can't wait to see the repair so I can follow along and fix mine.
Amazing what just a little TLC will get you. I think it boils down to someone not having a place or the knowledge to do some of these things. I used to pick up scrap cars in North NJ. Picked up some many cars like this. Usually from kids that either didn't know what to do, got in over their head or couldn't afford to fix them.
This was my first car. 1999 Honda civic ex coupe w the sunroof. Mine was white. Got it when I was 18 down in Florida. Thing had 182k miles on it when I got it my senior year of HS. Thing was clean inside and out looked brand new. Burned oil really badly though, and the head gasket was blown I kept oil and water jugs in the trunk but the thing kept going.
Mine was a midnight black lx sedan had 193000 on it took it to over 200000 would have still been on the road but someone t boned me and I didn’t want to fix any more but that car was awesome I had a 2010 ex coupe and now 2013 si coupe
man I love seeing these kinds of videos you guys inspired me to do the same with my hand me down civic but I had to get rid of it because I moved half way across the country with my family.
Pull the full interior out add about eight packs of black RIT dye In your pressure washer tank spray the full interior off about 3x it will make everything black ,and really clean ❤ spray it off with some vinegar and Wala fresh black interior 🎉
For the leak, sometimes the drain under the windshield gets plugged. Otherwise some rubber around the rear windows gets crunchy and bad. Thats what i've experienced atleast. Best of luck! Subbed
if you don't mind to share what brand name scissor lift you have there. Is it stand alone alone or bolted down? tks; also tks for sharing the your video
Love the idea. Making me feel more and more silly for having bought a CRX shell years ago, for more than this. Now with rising material costs, building my high school dream car is getting harder and harder 🥲
It's the sunroof drain trust me mine was leaking like that. Make sure it's not cut off half way or the tube not poking through the sub frame into interior.. I replace a new drain line I had left over and tape the new line to the old line and feed it through the frame all the way down until the old one comes out and undo the tape and feed that down in the frame.. Problem sloved.. Make sure the drain tray is clean and clear as well.
just wanna say im super excited for this project. i might actually participate. im a big civic guy and ive had 3 eks i love them. i know them inside and out super well, im just gonna ask if the whole car get repainted please please please keep it red. that oem red paint is already in decent shape and milano red is becoming a rare color. please dont spray the car black 😭😭😭
For the leak check the water return hose in top driver side corner of the sunroof blow air threw all 4 make sure they are not clogged but typical ek civic issue and pull the radio out those where rca cables and remote wire can pull them out easily cutting the rca was pointless from one honda brother to the other 💪👌
JL audio are pretty good speakers everybody use to run the if they could afford them. I didn’t get a good look at the head unit or amp but I bet they were pretty good quality. Especially if they were purchased new.
This video makes me miss my green 97. Basically they’re the same mechanically. Traded it for a very low mileage 99. But the 97 had a lot of fun memories. 205k miles of it….lol
Yeah, my Honda civic ball joint had gone out as well. Also the dude ran a stop sign hit me up front right, I got it fixed when the guys insurance sent me a check, but didn’t cover the full work. So I lost the car! Bummer!
My gsr had the same water problem on the passenger side. Turned out it was from a clogged sunroof drain which flowed the path of least resistance down to the back seat and from there to the passenger floor lol
Haha ya those vids are fun. We are actually going to be doing a vid on our channel showing how to get a professional paint job using rustoleum and keeping it under $200
Wonder if the welds around the front window are rusting out. In my old honda thats where the water gets in. I always thought it was from slight roll over dmg stress the weld but seems it must be common.
I got civic 2005 for $150 CAD not even US. Seller sold it for parts thinking it was salvaged by his insurance. But after 2 years it was active afre I checked the status in registry ha ha. I changed 2 doors from pick n pull when they had %50 off and matched the color and have nice civic for less than $250 CAD. It also even had timing belt and water pump done right before the accident. So $250 and I have brilliant car.
$300 for a shell is an absolute steal Yes it requires a lot of elbow grease but for another $5-600 bucks of self labor maybe rattle can paint you can have a decent ek
I just went through fb marketplace and a few other sites trying yo find a civic from this era, 4000 was the best price I could find...thats why most of the cars on our channel have a bunch of rust haha
i have a 96 ex. im on an unemployed budget due to health reasons. waiting on my right front cv axle to get here so i can fix that. seems like every time i get the $ to maybe get an upgrade, i have to get something it needs. will take those coil overs if you dont need them. hitting pretty hard on the passenger rear. thought id ask and thank you
We've been looking to find a civic to do on our channel but they are getting hard to find and not cheap where we are. Hopefully we can feature one soon
