This is the final episode of the Ford 4100 tractor restoration. We finish wiring it, sanding, change the hydraulic hoses, and give it a fresh coat of paint.
Special thanks to Mr. Mel at Summers Rubber Company for supplying us with the hydraulic hoses. Check out their website WWW.SUMMERSRUBBER.COM Very nice and helpful company. We greatly appreciated all the help he gave us and all he taught us.

looks great!!! i'm redoing a couple old ford tractors mine are older than that the old red and tan fords from the 50s.. i had the same issue finding paint too and finally bought it by the gallon. i thought rustoleum dried quicker and was easy to work with as well but when i actually had to time to let that majic paint setup for a few days it had a real nice smooth finish almost like it was powder coat

Great job on the old ford tractor boys. You are getting better. One suggestion I would recommend getting an air water separator for your compressor it will keep moisture out of your air tools and some of them come with pressure regulators so you can adust pressure there instead of at the tools. Again keep it up and thanks for another great video.

Great job! Some paint advice, turn the gun spray pressure down to between 10 - 20 psi, it's HVLP (high volume/low pressure. You will waste less paint and lower the chance of runs. You need to feather the paint gun trigger as you pass off the part, half trigger keeps air flowing but stops paint feed, overlap each pass by 50% for a seamless coat. Also, shot creases and edges lightly with the spray pattern set close to pinpoint, then do your fan pattern main coats. I've painted hundreds of things with HVLP, this is just my experience talking. Great video, keep leaning and teaching your son.

Thank you. We appreciate the tips. We are still learning so could use all the pro help we can get.

I know this vid is from summer but on your paint gun, the air pressure regulator is on backwards which is why it is reading high pressure. Look at the body of the regulator and you will see an arrow denoting the direction of air flow. Pretty sure yours is backwards. Enjoying your vids, Thanks!

You could be right. It was our first time and learning as we go so we appreciate any advice from experienced people like yourself.

One thing you could have done...researched pictures of an original tractor. You have the stripe kits on the wrong sides. You should have painted the inside of the front rims. Primer is porous, any moisture that may get inside the rim will make it start rusting again. Paint could have prevented a future problem. As far as primer goes, using a rust reformer would have been best. But, it wasn't meant to be perfect and you made some great memories with your boy. Good job!

Make sure that the switch in the gear box worck`s so wen you crank on the tractor it will not crank wen in gear.

It was disconnected during all that but it is definitely a good safety switch to have.

Colar code ?

No color code. It’s just called ford blue at tractor supply. You gotta make sure you don’t get the new blue color. It’s a different shade.
