Altoona was once "The Railroad Capitol of the World." In the early 1900s it was a bustling manufacturing hub. The downtown area hummed with activity. After WW2 however, the city has been in steady decline. Many of the historic buildings have been abandoned for decades. The once proud city became a ghost town.
However, in recent years, a group of bold visionaries have stepped up to restore the city to its former glory. This is Part 1 of the series that looks at the incredible transformation happening. We sit down with the Cook family. They are breathing new life into the downtown area.
