i never would have thought that something as simple as runefang drybrushed over rhinox hide would produce such an effective "rust" effect! definitely going to try that one on my own necromunda bases going forward.

Really nice scheme. I find it hard for blue to be a popular color in such a grim dark setting, but these guys seem to fit. Chill music too.

For Detol scrubbing, works best to scrub with Detol rather than water, water can turn the paint to a gunky mess. Also after many many Detol cleaning sessions I am band from using it now, moved to wilko paint stripper which is great, and then for really tough paint pure accertone (if it's metal).

Well Wasp sage advice! I used Dettol followed by acetone on another recent project with fantastic results. I think im honing in on a mixed method that minimizes scrubbing that I like, but it didn’t occur to me that water created that sticky effect. Makes sense!

I've taken to using cellulose thinners. Highly effective and it doesn't make your hands stink of Dettol!

If you buy a paint stripper that come in a plastic bottel I find it is ok on plastic minatures (test first) and use gloves!

I miss my old school Delaques. The new ones are nice, but I loved the look of the old timers.

New ones are too tall for my tastes. I could see one character looking like that, but ALL of them? I know the fluff is now that they are perhaps their own race of indigenous people or something, but they still recruit from settlements. It just seems odd. I wish they blended in more with the old and I would happily expand my gang

Thanks for the vid. Quick tip - don't introduce water to the Dettol. That is what made it gum up. You've got to brush it off dry. Hope that helps for the future!

@@EricsHobbyWorkshop The goal of Cawdor: swarming your opponent. Cawdor fighters cost less in terms of points and equipment. I run my gang with primary reclaimed auto guns and a close combat weapon of some sort (the cheaper the better). Try to stay on the offensive when possible and mob on your enemies. Send two of your fighters against one of theirs if possible. I'm excited to see how these Redemptionist Crazies work out for you!

@@EricsHobbyWorkshop I find templates to be both fun and useful for the Trash Bois, especially templates with Blaze. The blunderbuss/polearm erstaz guardian spear is pretty decent and worth taking (the autogun/polearm version, not so much). Bomb Rats are not special tech that's going to win you games, but they're (one of) my favorite part of Cawdor and are totally in the spirit of Necromunda.

I find acetone is way better than dettol, less is needed, for less time and overall it seems like it has less fumes, though being in a well ventilated space etc. is a given. Ad not to be used on plastic, ever... I love the old school look of the paintjob ;)
@NeillRobinson
@NeillRobinson 4 года назад
Step 1 - soak in dettol... Well it’s October 2020 so I haven’t seen a bottle of dettol in about 8 months here in the UK.. damn.

Lots of better ways than dettol. Simple green, las totally awesome. Paint thinnerc etc

If you use brake fluid for cars it also works with plastic or resin models

To save yourself from the sticky, brush the paint off with the Detol and not water. I do it that way and have never had a problem.

Oven cleaner. Clean miniatures in hours not days. Works awesome on sinks and tubs too. It's not just for ovens..fumes beware...

If you ever strip metal minis use acetone. Better result than Dettol and the whole process takes 15 minutes. In most cases paint comes off on its own.

Friend, you are doing the Dettol method incorrectly. Water is the enemy. It creates the gummy mess. 1 Immerse in Dettol for 24, 36, 48 hours - all good. 2 Get two tooth-brushes. Use the first to scrub the paint off the mini in Dettol. Use the Dettol as the liquid to dilute the paint before throwing it away. Dip the mini in the Dettol as you scrub. 3 Now place the mini on a dry kitchen towel and remove as much of the grey muck as you possibly can with the tissue. Get the mini as clean as you can. 4 Now put a blob of liquid hand soap on the mini and use the second brush to scrub the mini clean. 5 Now you introduce water to the method. To clean off the soap, not the Dettol. 6 Dry the mini completely before deciding whether it is clean enough to be primed, or whether it needs a second Dettol treatment. Works on all types of paints and minis without damaging glue like acetone will. Hope that helps. And the minis look great on your terrain. Cool.

Acetone instead? Or simple green?

Painting question... I see a lot of people prime with black, but I have bad vision and it makes it hard for me to see details when I am painting... is there a reason a lot of folks use black instead of grey, or is it just personal preference?
@EricsHobbyWorkshop
@EricsHobbyWorkshop 4 года назад
D Hancock I’ll tell you why i do it... if i leave something unpainted in the cracks it looks like shadow! I use white for a very bright colour scheme
@steveparkes
@steveparkes 4 года назад
Old comment I know but back in the old days i used to dust in white over the black sometimes to make the detail easier to see and plan for while painting. It also had a couple of extra effects. If you kept it at one angle it made it easy to plan for a consistent light source as well and on shiny plastic models with large areas of smooth detail (I'm looking at you the old Warhammer Wood Elf sets) it made the model slightly more Matt making it much easier to paint something that looked like a cloth Cape with the satin GW paints which was all most of us could get.

Never mix acrylic paint and dettol with water it turns to glue. Scrub in dettol only then once just about all paint is off then I soak in warm water and soap then rose off with clean water. That’s it. Never water before the paint is gone m!
